mzl.aelgxkif.320x480-75Square Enix re-released the DS version of Final Fantasy IV on iOS. You can get it now for iPhone (3GS and up), iPod Touch (4th generation and up), and iPad for $15.99. This version has the Augment system which lets characters pass their abilities down to other party members. Finally, you can make Cecil a bard.

Final Fantasy IV for iOS has been rebalanced and has upgraded graphics. Here’s a comparison between the 2007 DS release and the 2012 iOS version.

“This just in, SE still loves making money just as much.”

Awww, poor Kain, he’s not so bad, he just needs some love.

  • Finally. The DS version’s vastly superior translation is available on more than one platform.

I must be apart of the problem with this game consently coming out in many versions, because I buy it every single time it comes out on something.

I can’t help it, I just love this game too much and then I go and play it almost every year or so thanks to the different itterations.

    A spoony bard.

      What about knifey scribes?

Rather have the PSP version personally.

Should I get this game? My best friend have always been nagging me to get into this series, especially playing this specific this game for the NDS
I have never played any FF before, so would it feel weird or anything if I was to play this game? Does everything start and sum up in a single game?

    • None of the ‘numbered’ games are related to each other, they have their own stories. You can pick up and play any of them without having to play the ones before it :-)

    Hey, you leave my sexy baby dragoon alone. It’s not his fault ;A;

I know this isn’t the place to request systems.

But I do hope this doesn’t only stay on the iOS platform. The Android needs a lot more love. And I really don’t much enjoy the idea of buying things off of iTunes. Or using any Apple device, for that matter.

If this ends up on Android, at the very least it may end up on the Ouya someday.

    • Considering that the first three are on Android and that Ouya is slated to get FF titles, I’m pretty sure it’ll eventually be covered.

The major problem with going to Android though is that there’s hardly any standardization with whether or not your game will work with the many different Android devices out there. With iOS devices, there’s fewer concerns that it will work or not because there’s fewer variants by a large margin.

Oh ya just spoiled me :o.
    Nah kidding

I already have The Complete Collection on PSP, so I’ll skip it. Looks nice, though.

You’ve got the best modern version of Final Fantasy 4 so really no loss for you.

  • Every time I see the DS version of Final Fantasy IV, I rage. Maybe it’s because the PSP version is vastly superior.

  • Derek E Nay

Kain can “backstab” me any day ^///^

Backstabbing jerk? He was under mind control by Golbez…
