By Spencer . January 2, 2013 . 2:47am

When music games were making Activision millions, the published tried to expand on Guitar Hero by making other spinoffs like DJ Hero and Band Hero. There was another "Hero" game in development, but Sing Hero, a karaoke game, was canceled when Activision decided to exit the music game business.

Yikes. That is terrible concept art.

Those girls designs got potential… and would be totally delicious if they were to be drawn in kawaii desu anime style though. Less dead gothic make up, bony cheeks, old skinny drug-addict females aesthetic ; and more bright pallete color healthy teen look would do the trick

      • Wake

Yeah, an anime treatment might make it better. I think they might have used the yahoo avatar creator to create these though.

Someone already touched on the female designs.

So I’ll touch on the male designs.

That’s… surprisingly limited despite trying to reach towards a variety of characters, they’re actually somewhat unappealing. It feels like you’ve got to go into certain extremes. The semi-hippy bum rocker, the suave semi-classy slackjawed musician, the long haired gonna be called the emo-kid of the whole bunch guy and the token black morpheus dude.

It’s as if they just can’t have a normal guy in the whole mix. I know people like to experience a certain amount of escapism with these games or have a chosen avatar to represent them within that world but goodness… None of these guys seem appealing in that mindset to fulfill their chosen roles and I’d certainly doubt anyone would want to fantasize or project being any of these characters. They lack that level of quality that just makes you think “This guy… This guy is awesome!”.

      Is it just me?

I’m being vague, I know. But I’m having a hard time figuring out what it is right off the top of my head. And that’s how I write. Right off the top of my head.

    • I love how the Diva and the Showman are as inoffensively near-black as possible without actually being dark-skinned. Gotta test well with that Midwest audience, right?

  • phangtom

Cancelled when they found out how many people could actually sing.

  • In a way, and knowing how crowded the music game scene got with so many releases in a very small time frame, I’m happy this never saw the light of day.

  • KingGunblader

    Good. Riddance.

Now when will this happen to their shooters?
