imageDark Souls, FromSoftware’s spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls, is part of the Greatest Hits budget line. That means you can get a copy in a red case for around $20 bucks. Amazon is selling the PS3 version of Dark Souls for $18.56 and an Xbox 360 copy is $14.99. The Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content is sold separately.

Namco Bandai and FromSoftware are working on Dark Souls II which will have a slightly larger world.

good to see this game growing more everyday, I just hope that DaS II wont suffer for this, cause almost all the time a game gets too popular, it gets worst. (BTW I’m not a hipster :P)

    • Games don’t really get worse just from getting popular, they get worse when developers think their fanbase is too small and want to appeal to more people. That is what it sounds like Dark Souls 2 is going to do, appeal to more people, and that is bad, from a fan point of view.

      • Trying to appeal to more people isn’t a negative aspect in itself either. It’s pandering that could ruin a game. From what I hear, Dark Souls 2 is making things a bit easier; if From Software can accomplish that without employing clunky designs, they have every right to do that.

        • I will treat them like i did with Square after it joined with Enix. I will buy their games, enjoy them. First game that sucks, I will write it off, say it was still fun, and move on with life. Another game comes out, I will be slightly cautious, but still still buy the collector’s edition. If that game sucks as well, I will wait to buy the next game after a price reduction, and if that one sucks as well, then I give up.

So I am not really worried about it. I am just mentioning what I have noticed from playing console games for the last 26 years. From Software will have to do a lot to lose me as a customer, just like it took Square Enix a long time too. I just hope they aren’t blinded by trying for dollars over keeping their fans happy. Time will tell.

I could have sworn I saw a Greatest Hits copy of Dark Souls at a GameStop two weeks ago.

YES. I got Demon Souls Greatest Hits ver, so I can get Dark Souls in the red box to match. Red boxes are cool.
