A new challenger has arrived in Onimusha Soul, Capcom’s browser based Onimusha game with cards representing characters from the entire series. Ryu shows up in a dream story as a fiend for players to fight. Your reward for defeating Ryu is a pair of zori (Japanese sandals) and he joins your group as a warlord.

Lilith and Morrigan from Darkstalkers made cameos in Onimusha Soul too.

Onimusha Soul was Capcom’s foray into the world of browser games, but so far Onimusha Soul is only for Japan.

WOW GREAT ANOTHER CROSSOV… browser card games, again.

    • Raoni Marques

Yeah, man;..it’s getting boring. I always read news about crossovers and think “damn, this is gonna kick ass.”. Then I see it’s another cardgame crossover….

Talking about Onimusha, they should release an HD collection of the ps2 games. There’s probably some problems with the remake due to the actors they used for the first 3 games, though.

      • MediaMindControl

I did put that down on the Capcom survey awhile back. I really l would enjoy that even though I own all the Onimusha games. I want a brand new Onimusha for this gen and it never happened. Pretty sad really as I think it transcends the genre of beat em up, survival horror in a unique way. Other than Genji there weren’t many games like it and I can’t say anything at the same level since Ps2.

        • Raoni Marques

Yeah, I own all the games too, but it would be nice to play them on a higher resolution. It was a real great game and as you, I really wanted to see a new Onimusha game this gen too. It was one of a kind.

          • MediaMindControl

Yes I agree. I sent them my desire for an HD collection of Onimusha. Somehow games like Onimusha, it’s baby clone: Genji and of course Shenmue are non-existent in the current gen. Personally I’d take a new Onimusha over a DMC series release any day.

      bummer……

      Its for japanese anyways.

  • pressstart

I don’t recognize any of those Onimusha characters in the pictures.

  • Brion Valkerion

Card games are making way to much money on phones/browsers. No wonder devs leave companies to make their own. Hell 90% of them are the SAME EXACT GAME just with different artwork.

Then again its aimed at the collector crowd which is a massive market in Japan so, make dat $$$ I guess.

  • Spirit Macardi

You mean they finally made a new Onimusha… And it’s a browser game?

    *takes closer look*

And those aren’t even Onimusha characters! I’m not talking about the crossover characters either, I mean everyone else. Where’s Samanosuke Akechi? Where’s Jacques Blanc? Soki? Jubei Yagyu? Nobunaga Oda?

I guess that means this game fails on two levels.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Lilith looking good

    • XiaomuArisu

      Like alwaysXD

  • Göran Isacson

I really do like Lilith and Morrigans kimono/mesh-looks, I just wish it was in a game I could and wanted to play. Like an actual Onimusha game :(

  • Zonic505

I want to see Morrigan &/or Lilith wear those outfits in other games. Heck, if Morrigan appears in another crossover fighting game, I want that to be her alt. costume.

  • SetzerGabbiani

….sigh….I would love to have HD versions of the Onimusha games. Great games, and I loved the stories behind them.

    • Suzaku

One possible problem with releasing HD versions of those games is that Onimusha 1 & 2 used prerendered scenery, which probably won’t upscale very well without being re-prerendered for higher resolution displays.

  • Theofratus ‘Geese’ Lester

There is no Onimusha game without Akechi Samanosuke and the others.

Either give us a new Onimusha game… or give us an Onimusha HD Collection for the PlayStation 3. That’s all I (and we) ask.

    Thank you!
