Dynasty Warriors Style Kamen Rider Game Coming To PS3 From Namco Bandai

By Spencer . January 16, 2013 . 12:16am

Last night, we reported a teaser site from Namco Bandai, featuring imagery of a motorcycle. The site, according to this week’s Famitsu magazine is for a new Kamen Rider game for the PlayStation 3 called Kamen RIder: Battleride War.

Famitsu’s reveal indicates that the game is similar in appearance to Tecmo Koei’s Dynasty Warriors series of games. Bikes play a big role in Kamen Rider: Battleride War. You’ll be able to ride around on a motorcycle and run through small fry enemies. Your bike can also be used to jump over indestructible obstacles and you can use bike actions to rescue ally characters. The game features playable characters from Kamen Rider Kuuga, Agito, Kabuto, Den-O, W, OOO, Fourze, and Wizard.

Kamen Rider: Battleride War is slated for release on May 23 on PS3 for 7,480 yen ($84). You can also get a 10,480 yen ($118) limited edition with a premium TV sound edition, a Blu-ray disc with 30 songs from the different Kamen Rider generations.

  • I was never into Kamen Rider, but heck, I’ll buy it!

  • Sakurazaki

YES. I’ve wanted something like this for the longest time!

I hope the animations will be good. Didn’t like the stiffness of the Wii game very much.

  • Well, this was inevitable at one point or another. Now that it’s announced, I have some subsequent questions. Like, who’s the developer? Will the game have Furigana/Kana option like Climax Heroes games? What about online play? How big is the budget going to be? But I guess I’ll find out (some of them) in due time.

I’m admittedly cautious, but mainly because of how Ranger Cross turned out to be after being advertised(?) reported as having a similar “Dynasty Warriors” playstyle.

  • Kaihedgie

Well damn, I was JUST talking about something like this to a friend of mine who’s a big fan of Kamen Rider

  • Zarx

While this is probably not gonna get localized, I’m pretty happy we’ll be getting some good rider kicks outside of the Climax Heroes series.
Wonder if Showa era riders will be added though.

  • Aw, I do hope the Showa Era Riders are also included. The Dynasty Warriors setting somewhat fits especially with the enemy Organizations like Shocker with their Grunts attacking the Riders in groups.

  • Expecting @DrakosAmatras:disqus to post in 3…2…1

  • Ronald Bixler

I hope the combat does not end up being as stiff as the first Fist of the North Star – Dynasty Warriors type game.

  • Göran Isacson

… You know in retrospect this WOULD have been obvious, but we were all so blinded by the FIM motocross game that our thoughts were led astray. How wrong we were…

As for the game, eh, sure, I’ll try it. Not much of a Kamen Rider fan, but who knows- this might be the game that makes a fan out of me?

    • D H

The best part is that the pictures are pictures of 3 Riders’ bikes, and no one noticed, even on a lot of the more tokusatsu-themed websites, until Famitsu broke the news.

      • Göran Isacson

Wow. I wonder if people didn’t make the connection because NOBODY expected this to be a thing, or if the whole internet just had a collective brain-fart.

  • Sperium3000

Please make it so Skull is playable, PLEASE make it so Skull is playable, please please pleaaaaaase make it so Skull is playable…

  • D H

Really starting to love sending companies random tweets. Sent one to Ubisoft asking for a Ezio Collection, get an Ezio Collection. Send tweets to Koei and Bamco asking for Kamen Rider Warriors, get something… at least somewhat similar. Got to keep this up…

  • Klaus00

  • I want to import this one. A Dynasty Warriors style Kamen Rider game! That sounds so exciting. Will definitely be looking into this one.

  • MrTyrant

    So…no Tromble? ;_;

  • Spirit Macardi

    You mean… It isn’t a Klonoa spin-off starring Guntz…?

Actually I figured that from the start. Namco would never do something that awesome.

  • Equus

Very interested to see how this turns out. I have fond childhood memories of Kamen Rider.

  • OverlordZetta

I need this and I need it right now.
Fingers crossed that this becomes a yearly endeavor like the other Kamen Rider games.
