Take A Tour Of Shining Ark’s Azel Village

By Sato . January 18, 2013 . 12:06pm

Sega’s upcoming RPG, Shining Ark, has plenty to offer outside the naval battles. Lets take a look at Azel Village, and what it has to offer.

The time passes as you wander in the village. The sun rises and sets during the course of your play. Players will be able to change the time simply by sleeping in their homes. There will be events that activate only during certain times of the day and night.

The above image shows players talking to an NPC during the evening. The sun icon above his head indicates that he has something to say, but only during daytime. When it gets too late at night, Panis will also leave your party to get some rest.

Ezel Village is a port town known for fishing, and it wouldn’t be right to have our heroes stay there without the opportunity to fish, right?

In the business of tackle, some big ones get away. Catch them effectively by visiting several fishing hot spots during different times. Freed’s fishing skills can also be increased, allowing him to catch rare fish.

Panis can also help enhance your fishing luck with the help of her magical songs. Jinga the half-beast warrior is apparently a fisherman himself. When Freed’s fishing skills meet the requirements, Jinga will allow him to keep the fish he catches.

Players can also grow their own crops by visiting Adam’s Garden.

Adam is your friendly neighborhood robot gardener. Collect seeds and give them to Adam, as he will do all the hard work for you.

There are many seeds that can grow into different fruits and vegetables. Growing plenty of crops will allow Freed to bake a variety of breads. Panis’ magical singing comes in handy once again, this time by increasing crop yields with her lovely voice.

Mayor Galzee gives you a stamp card which is used for rewarding players for doing good deeds.

There are many ways to earn stamps. You can take on requests or do simple favors for villagers. Occasionally, the local shop owners will give you a stamp, simply as a way to show customer appreciation. When a total of 10 stamps are collected, they can be exchanged for rewards from Galzee.

Shining Ark will set sails on February 28th, 2013 for the PSP.

This is looking really nice. XSEED, if your reading this, I want to give you my money. Make it happen….. yeah, I know, it’s the PSP so it probably won’t. I can still hope.

    • TiamatNM

Sega owning the Shining series is a much bigger problem than it being a PSP game

  • Charmchar

it makes me sad to know that the PSP never really picked up in the west because its a pretty impressive hardware for its time. (╥_╥) i love you my psp.

    • Hraesvelgr

Well, it’s true that it didn’t “pick up” in the west to some extent, but there were other “issues” that plagued it and I think those hurt it more than anything else.

      • Syn

        You mean piracy right.

        • if he means piracy then he should look at how much of fail the DS was with all its piracy.

  • Andrew Arndt

    a must have

  • Please XSEED , You’re our hope .. localize this (T0T)/

  • Damn, The Shining Series seems so generic now. I must admit, though, the naval battles seems nice.

  • Mohamed Ak

xseed …… do it and take me WALLET!!!!!!

    • Ladius

As sad as it is, it’s really unlikely Sega will hand other publishers the licenses of its games. XSeed was apparently interested in Valkyria Chronicles 3, but that too proved to be unfeasible.

  • gazettoshiki

If this game came to the West, I’ll die happily ~~

  • ali mohammed

is there a chance to see this game be localized Xseed ? haha

  • raulrain

Sadly, we have to remember Valkyria Chronicles 3 T_T , You are my man PSP !!!

  • raymk

Why are people calling out to xseed? What can they do in this situation especially with the workload they have with their own games?

    • Syn

      Translate it????? Just saying

  • Can she fly with one wing?

  • The fact that he is holding her hand in most of these pictures is adorable.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Looks great. I shall be getting it

  • Aww How cute! Holding hands :3

  • TatsuyaKyo

So, instead of earning stamps by buying bread like in Blade, you get them by finishing tasks, eh? Very interesting. Definitely gonna import this.

  • Pockystix

welcome to the tour of Shining Ark

on your left, we have the local shops, all nice and ready to sell you various things

and on your right, we have SEGA’s roving gang of copyright lawyers. . . most people don’t go to that part of town

  • greyheart

no matter how hard i tried to plead sega, no matter how hard i beg them to bring this to west, it’s just…
    it’s just impossible …..

    • Whenever SEGA tries to bring titles like this, people like you don’t buy. You can’t expect SEGA to take loss (something they aren’t in a position to take) just to satisfy a minority.

      • Elvick

        That’s so ignorant.

Prove it. Prove that people who say this are the ones not buying it.

Or, make the better assumption that the people who say it just don’t total up to that many in the long run. O:

But no, let’s throw around some baseless blame instead. Woot.

      • Syn

Well it seems Xseed never got your memo cos they still publish games like “this” here in the west and they are doing fine

  • Warboss Aohd

remember when dis series had releases in da west? Me Either.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

The game looks really pretty.^^ As usuall, going to import the game.
