The God And Fate Revolution Paradox Really Is Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger In Spirit

4Gamer posted a video with thirteen minutes of The God and Fate Revolution Paradox. It’s a roguelike game from Nippon Ichi where you play as Renya, a boy who has the power to change the fate of people… and fairy tale characters like Cinderella. The gameplay is a lot like Nippon Ichi’s PSP game Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman. Equipping Renya with items changes his appearance and abilities.

The God and Fate Revolution Paradox has some cameos from the Netherworld. Asagi is confirmed to be in the game and Nippon Ichi teases that there will be Disgaea guest characters too. Right now, The God and Fate Revolution Paradox has only been announced for Japan, but this looks like the kind of title NIS America will localize.

    Go, my tank-legged, Chinese-vampire, Prinny-riding, fish-head god!

  • Peeka Chu

This looks delightful weird. Even more so than most NIS stuff.

God, Asagi must be thoroughly pissed once she shows up.

What if… What if Asagi’s one of the people Renya helps? He helps her achieve her dream of having her own game…

  • Kind of hoping they make looking out for good gear a bit more worthwhile in this one. ZHP was great but I was disappointed that armour and weapons were so disposable.

More than 1 dungeon track as well please!

ZHP is my favourite NIS game. The cutscenes were amazingly done. I haven’t had laughs that bad since the original Disgaea, and it went even further with “Bondage-Ranger” jokes. I saw the flaws in the gameplay, but it was such a niche hit to people who grew up with RPGs/Superheros that I didn’t care. I had fun, and that’s what gaming is all about. Hopefully we hear an announcement about this soon with Disgaea D2.

Oh please Let It Be So!
There’s a lot to like here; random thoughts:

From what I can see it’s in the lineage of Shiren, Chocobo’s Dungeon and Izuna. Some part of this is like someone at NIS liked El Shaddai or something (completely understandable). The new gothic Rosenqueen music made me laugh, but also breathe a sigh of relief. Is it bad that I’m utterly sick of it? They finally have a new menu sound! All the music is good; is Sato involved at all this time? Congratulations, you won godhood.

    • DesmaX

No, Tenpei Sato didn’t work on this one

Soundtrack was made by Yōsei Teikoku

This game looks awesome, and I generally go off and cower from these complex, 150+ hour games.
Still, I’d really rather it be for the Vita; I just don’t have it in me to do lengthy stat/rpg titles tethered to the couch anymore.

So… what happened to the previous god? Run, Renya, they’ll devour your soul after you’ve done everything they need from you!
