Is Electronic Arts Reviving Mecha Combat Game Battledrome?

By Spencer . January 25, 2013 . 2:14am

Electronic Arts might be rebooting an old Sierra PC game. The publisher registered a trademark for Battledrome in the United States. Battledrome from was part of the Metaltech mecha simulation series. Battledrome put players in the cockpit of a Goliath-like robot.

Here’s a look at the game 90s PC game, but Electronic Arts Battledrome might be different!

  • Groovy.

  • America needs to re-embrace the Mecha genre! This and Pacific Rim are giving me hope for this future! Hot-blooded will be the norm, and very soon, Metal Wolf Chaos will be localized! **** YEAH, GOD BLESS AMERICA!

If we embrace it maybe we can have a super robot taisen game but with our own mechs like Megas XLR and the Iron Giant.

      • Don’t forget Pacific Rim, Symbionic Titan, Transformers (Yes, I said it), Power Rangers (Dragonzord, FTW!), etc.

Thinking about it makes me want it to happen for real. This could be a way for Namco to bring it’s SRT to the west.

  • I’d love a First Person Mecha game. The last one of those I played was Gundam for the wii.

  • Göran Isacson

Liked the soundtrack there, but gameplay… I think I’d prefer a
Mechwarrior-style game a lot more, those were a BIT more fastpaced than
this (at least in my memories), and also looked… well, a little more
like actual BATTLEFIELDS and a little less like big empty fields of
    nothing with terrible drawdistance.

    Ah well. It’s been almost
two decades since it got released, so I’m pretty sure the new game will
have a lot more going for it graphically.
