Xseed will release a PC optimized version of Ys I&II Chronicles on Steam. The compilation was released on PSP back in February 2011. Ys I&II Chronicles+ includes Ancient Ys Vanished: Omen and Ancient Ys Vanished: The Final Chapter.

Ys I&II Chronicles+ is slated for release in February.

Now all we need is Ark of Napishtim for PC(localized of course).

    • Mantiskilla

Well Ys VI was brought to NA by Konami for PS2 and PSP. Xseed might have a bit harder time getting the rights for it, but I’m sure they could figure something out

  • Barrylocke89

Are you guys ready for hawt bumpercar action?

And yes Xseed, we do love you.

    • doubletaco

Well, if it’s based off of the PSP remakes it will have the groundbreaking “Attack Button™” feature.

      • wyrdwad

No, you’re thinking the DS remake. The PSP remake didn’t feature an attack button — it was faithful to the original.

        • doubletaco

          Ah, you’re right.

          Bumpercars it is!

  • Ninten

Chronicles+? Still, day one purchase on Steam. (Only played the TG-16 version)

  • Wolframium

Damn you XSeeD, now I’ll have even less money this month.

  • http://www.thejaystack.com/ Jon Stachewicz

Wasn’t the PC port of Chronicles the one that had numerous issues? I thought they just used all the assets from the PSP version and stretched them

    • Gyro Zeppeli

Well this has + in the title so I’m assuming they’re fixing it up.

      • http://www.thejaystack.com/ Jon Stachewicz

Aah, good to know. Really looking forward to this if that’s the case.

      • http://hedjahead.wordpress.com/ Hedja

They could’ve just released a patch so original Chronicles owners get a “fixed” version too. Though I guess that might end up being the entire game depending on how much they needed to change..

    • wyrdwad

As Gyro said, our Steam programmer and general miracle-worker Sara has essentially integrated the best features of Ys I & II Chronicles with the stability and features of fan-favorite earlier PC release Ys I & II Complete (which was optimized for PCs back in the early 2000s, but has trouble running on more modern systems).

      • http://www.thejaystack.com/ Jon Stachewicz

Sounds good to me! I didn’t mean to sound like a downer, since I love Ys I and II, but I was just worried since I heard bad things about that particular release.

I remember a while back there was a patch, too, that allowed the use of the audio from the PCE releases of these games. Do you know if that’ll be compatible with the Steam release of Chronicles or are you not allowed to comment on that?

        • wyrdwad

Officially, only the three soundtracks present in the Japanese PC and PSP releases of Chronicles will be available. If people find a way to incorporate alternate soundtracks, more power to ‘em… but it’s not something we can do in any official capacity, unfortunately, and it’s also not something we’ll be able to support if anything goes wrong.

  • Göran Isacson

I and my wallet are okay with this. We are very much okay with this. Was the PSP-version ever localized, or was it Japan-only?

    • http://www.esterior.net/ Endless History

It was released back in 2009. It’s also currently available on PSN.

  • Tom_Phoenix

Great news for existing Ys fans.

That said, I hope they will consider a GOG release at some point as well.

  • dahuuuundge

    based Xseed did it again

  • WyattEpp

F-Fine, you can HAVE my money. I wasn’t going to use it anyway!

  • guin10

Can anyone explain one thing for me? The psp version has a different user interface than that of the pc version?

    • Tatsuya1221

The top link is not ys 1 and 2 chronicles, that’s Ys 1 and 2 complete (which has issues running on win 7), that said i do believe that the psp version of chronicles allowed you to change the UI between the 2 versions, though i’m not sure..

      • http://www.esterior.net/ Endless History

You could change the art style, but the border-based UI of Ys Complete was not in Ys Chronicles at all.

        • guin10

Thx for the answers. I like the second UI much more.

  • CirnoLakes

Oh I am happy. I AM HAPPY.

  • Andrew A

    Thank you, Xseed!

  • Tatsuya1221

Will buy as soon as possible, here’s hoping for a Ys 6 and maybe Ys 7 port, though Ys 7 will probably be difficult.

  • Ephidiel

    BUMP EM DEAD

  • $36598391

so this will include the PC88 versions of the first two then?
“Ys I&II Chronicles+ includes Ancient Ys Vanished: Omen and Ancient Ys Vanished: The Final Chapter”

    • http://www.esterior.net/ Endless History

I don’t know. Maybe? Maybe not. Those titles, though, are the full proper titles for Ys I and II that Falcom’s always used. In fact, they even show up in Ys Complete, on the UI frames and stuff.

      • $36598391

I am a bit curious what the + is for

        • wyrdwad

The + indicates that this is not just a straight Steam port of Ys I & II Chronicles PC. As mentioned above, it’s an updated release that takes Chronicles PC and mixes it with features from Ys I & II Complete, as well as adding Steam features like achievements, leaderboards and Steam Cloud.

    • wyrdwad

Yeah, our press release may have been a bit vague about that. ;) This is essentially the best of Chronicles mixed with the best of Complete.

  • https://twitter.com/A_Beast_of_Prey Equinox K

And I was steady trying to get Ys Chronicles on the PSP or the DS. Since they got extra games with, I’ll eventually pick this one up too.

  • TatsuyaKyo

    RAMMING SPEED!!!

Man, the guys at Xseed are total bros. I hope they localize more of Adol and Dogi’s adventures in the future.

    • wyrdwad

      Greatest. Comic. Ever. ;)

  • DesmaX

I’m buying this on release (Just like I did with OiF and Origin).

Hope I’ll see Trails in the Sky FC on Steam too. Steam needs some Turn-Based RPG’s

  • Ridho Siregar

‘Rite now I can bump Feena on the wall again.

  • guin10

    Xseed:

I bought Ys Felghana and Ys Origin. I will buy Ys I&II.
But please don’t forget to release YS VI on steam.

    Thx.

  • NeoAthanasius

Nice Xseed! I really appreciate the work that you guys guys are doing. I can’t wait to have this in my Steam library.

  • http://twitter.com/CeciKiyomizu Ceci Kiyomizu

XSEED did I mention that I want to marry you and have beautiful children?

  • ign0z

Will this be the same as the PSP release, or is there any extra content?

    • http://sara.wingdreams.net/ Sara Leen

Aside from the Steam features XSEED’s past releases have had, this has an alternate viewing mode that is a bit more like the original PC release “Complete”, not just like the PSP one. Check out this post to see how things can look in the two different viewing modes: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=47144183#post47144183

      • ign0z

Thanks. If those technical changes are the only additions then I’ll probably just stick to the PSP version.

  • Seizui

Totally pre-ordered! …That makes Ys I, II, Oath in Felghana, and Ys Origin. ….Sadly, I don’t think Ys Ark of Napishtim will be possible due to Konami, I /think/ (I may be wrong. I hope I’m wrong).

  • http://twitter.com/Linka13 Linka

Excellent! Though I do wonder if they’ll ever do the PC port of Ys Seven? I know it exists! … IN CHINA!
