Online Gamer have shared the first details of Nexon’s upcoming Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex online PC game, announced late last year.

Tentatively titled Ghost in the Shell Online, the game will be an FPS with a focus on hacking, where you have the ability to customize your cyberized body. You’ll also be able to make use of Tachikoma tanks in fights, and get to play as members of Public Security Section 9 as well.

Nexon have plans to release the game worldwide. In Japan, the game will be released sometime in the first half of 2014.

  • Interesting. I hope we get to see it in action soon.

I hate that Nexon is handling it but it still sounds great. I’m wary but I’m also interested.

  • deathman00789

    SO it’d be like Syndicate?

    • Zal_Yagun

Thats what I was thinking, but it sounds like it might be like Blacklight retribution or other online FPS

  • Shane Guidaboni

    Could be good.

  • Gotta admit, if this were in the hands of a more respectable developer I might actually be excited for it.

Nexon are handling it? Can’t wait to play in 2018 for a few months before the servers close or something.

    • Naux

I see what you did there.

  • Go2hell66

it just had to be an FPS didn’t it.

  • Think I’d rather play Deus Ex: Human Revolution over and over and over again.

my favorite GITS game was the one for PS1… good plain fun but wish they added a multi-player vs mode.

  • Namuro

Right, on one side, we have a generic masked soldier dude, a techno-goggle guy, and uh…sorta Psycho Mantis guy. Then there’s the lovely and deadly Motoko on the other… I know which team I wanna be on.

  • Not sure why everyone is so worried. If you’ve played their latest games, especially Vindictus(Mabinogi Heroes), then you’d have nothing to worry about. It’s not like their Maplestory days.

    • Ferrick

its not that the games are bad, its nexon themselves, their security system is very lacking and caused the string of hacked accounts back at 2011, and they don’t compensate for the loss, instead they turn a blind eye and close down every claims as false (my account was one of those long list of hacked accounts back at 2011, and i never got any compensation for it, instead i was permabanned for making a ticket)

      • Well, I know it’s not because of the games. I was still wondering if people were still dwelling in the “money greed” days of Nexon where it turns you off.

But I’ve had no issues with any hacking. And I wouldn’t go as far as blaming “security”. Considering Blizzard accounts, XBL accounts, etc, are hacked daily. This sounds more like a support side issue. And making a ticket and getting banned sounds unreasonable unless you approached them in an inappropriate manner. I had a friend who got hacked in DFO, he received NX for compensation, and this was in 2012.

        • Ferrick

well its not the games, the games are fine (maxed out lann with +15 dream sword & +15 dark crest set and maxed out Paladin mode =P, total hours of 1000… and all lost because of the hacker), and nexon is still money greedy, not that others aren’t either.

the reason on why the security is very lacking is because of the fact that they force you to login through the website (back then you could just bypass this by logging into the game itself, but stopped at early 2011), and they don’t encrypt the data sent (meaning that anyone with the knowledge of reading network flow could see everything, the ID, the password, the personal data, nothing is safe)

well all i wrote was that i got hacked in the middle of a vindi game and told nexon about the unknown ip that suddenly connected to my account, after that i got permabanned, and no i never bought gold either

  • badmoogle

    Nice art.

  • Miyali

Hmmm well could be good, still wished it was a TPS instead of FPS, I say this out of concern that the vertical element might be missing since it’s in first person.

  • TheDarkEmpress

Nice concept but there’s a reason why “Nexon” cannot be spelled without an “N” and an “o”. I’ll pass.

  • zero254

This game is dead on arrival because of nexon. But at least it’s something.

  • Valtiel Ikari

why fps? if I can create a character id much rather look at it than just it’s hands. Why not just give third person perspective option like many other games? still might give it a chance.

  • Nexon = Combat Arms. Nuff said. This game is screwed from the outset.

  • MortalWare

Disappointed that it is yet another FPS. Would much prefer to see a full on MMORPG in the Ghost In The Shell universe.

  • hh

What are you guys talking about? FPS is the best genre ever.
I would really like it to be pay to play with no pay to win weapons and stuff and that it would be available on steam. If not then i’m sticking to CSGO. :D
