It Took Six Years, But Wizardry Empire III Is Finally Available On PSN

Starfish makes the Elminage series, which is essentially a Wizardry clone. Did you know Starfish actually had the Wizardry license too? They developed Wizardry Empire III: Ancestry of the Supreme King for PSP back in 2007. The game will being re-released as a PlayStation Network download on February 20, 2013. Six years is a long time to put a game on PSN, but licensing issues may have complicated matters for Starfish.

Wizardry Empire III has a first person perspective and a wireframe mode for players that want an ’80s style dungeon crawler.

Starfish made two modes normal and for hardcore dungeon RPG fans "mania mode." If you select mania mode you cannot save inside dungeons and the game has an additional party compatibility system.

The downloadable version will cost 2,940 yen ($31) on PSN.

  • No English release? Damn… ;_;

    • fds_nextdart

      To be honest, if the English release will be as bad as Elminage, you are better off. The aforementioned title not only had a poor translation, some texts remained in Japanese giving the feeling you were playing a WIP translation project~.

        Even with the bad translation, Elminage was awesome and would buy Wizardry Empire 3 the second it’s available in english.

  • They took 6 years to release THIS? Omg, and we keep complaining about the Versus XIII development…

    • fds_nextdart

      They took six years to release this in digital format. Huge difference~.

      …and licensing issues from what the article hinted at too
