More Muramasa Rebirth Screenshots And Illustrations From Vanillaware

By Spencer . February 14, 2013 . 4:48pm

Muramasa Rebirth is a 2D action RPG. Kisuke and Momohime can do a simple combo by pressing one button. Characters also have a jump attack to hit flying tengu and leaping ninjas. Each slash takes a bit of energy and if you overuse a sword it will break. Broken blades do less damage so you’ll probably want to switch to one of your other two blades if a sword snaps in half.

You can defend against enemy attacks by parrying (holding down the attack button) or repelling projectiles by pressing attack right before the projectile hits you.

Select Japanese retailers have an extra bonus with Muramasa Rebirth. You can get a Momohime telephone card from Softmap or a Torahime bromide card from Medialand. Here’s a look at the illustrations Vanillaware drew for the various bonus items. Muramasa Rebirth comes out in Japan on March 28. Aksys will release the Vita game in North America at a later date.

I would consider a double dip if a jump button was added.

    • Curan_Altea

It indeed has a dedicated jump button.

      • idrawrobots

        Wow! That is fantastic news!

    • Aoshi00

yes, jump btn has been added.

Nice arts, I have the OST and arranged soundtrack that have Kongiku and Torahime as the cover arts.. wonder if the top 3 are also old arts..

Pre-ordered the US ver, got the Momohime figure and getting the Kongiku one too, spending too much but love this game..

      • mirumu

If it’s any consolation I’m doing the same.

There’s a been a Yuzuruha figure seen doing the rounds too. Not sure if they’re going into mass production with it, but if they do I’m in.

        • Visa Vang

They might do re-releases if it’s popular like Momohime which I got her from a recent re-release.

          • mirumu

That Yuzuruha one hasn’t been released as of yet. Supposedly it’s just a fan’s garage kit. Occasionally if these are popular a company will do a deal and set up a production run.

Just to ask… has there always been a demand for a jump button?
What kind of problems did people get into without one?
I never knew about people wanting a jump button until localization news hit.

      • Aoshi00

Yeah, I never had a problem playing w/ the nunchuk+remote on the Wii either, I thought it was quite natural and smooth doing the frantic combos.. but I think a jump btn would really help w/ this Vita port, since it’s not as sturdy as the console’s.. I was worried the jump would not be too accurate w/ Vita’s analog stick..

Now w/ a diff. Jump btn and US localization (& new Eng. script) plus trophies, perfect chance to double dip and replay it. Before I was a little disappointed I couldn’t get to play the new DLC scenarios even if importing it..

        • XypherCode

Can we still opt to not use the jump button?

      • idrawrobots

I would rather play it like Super Metroid than Super Street Fighter. I use X to jump in Smash Bros. It is more precise and makes more sense to me.

  • HassanJamal

    Nice illustrations. Giggity.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Imagine how beautiful that will look on the Vita screen

  • z_merquise

Dangit, Sample! You’re blocking the view!

  • z_merquise

With all of the beautiful artworks in every Vanillaware games, I really wish for a Vanillaware artbook.

I’m really going to buy it.

  • XypherCode

Will Aksys use Ignition’s assets and translations for the localization?

  • K Mantle

So far, this is the only one I have found without the ‘sample’ watermark

    • Pekola

I…I’m not even sure what to say about this picture. Wow. Didn’t know Momohime wore no…undergarments.

      • K Mantle

If you look closer to Konjiku’s crotch in her second picture, you can see she’s not wearing undergarments either

        • Pekola

          I…uh. That’s…interesting, I guess. Lol.

    • AkuLord3

well yeah this art (and a few others) were out since the game’s first release on the Wii…no surprise u find one

      • kmantle

I wonder why are they offering it again instead of making another one.

  • xXDGFXx

    Girls in yukatas and/or kimonos = <3

  • Vanillaware, I swear, make some of the best artwork there is with their games. I regret not buying the Odin Sphere Artbook when I had the chance.

  • TheExile285

    My body is ready

  • Darkrise

I’m hoping for larger sized images for those “samples”.

  • This is gonna look outrageously good on the Vita screen.

  • MediaMindControl

I bought this once day one. Hoping to do that again. Really enjoyed the skill tree and I hope the other characters have interesting paths for their weapons.

  • Oltheros

This is getting localized right? Special edition with all those postcards…right?!
