Bandai Namco gave us a look at the challenge behind boss fights in their upcoming PSP title, Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment.

Before being able to fight the boss, you need to clearing the maze leading up to the battle.

After clearing the maze, you have to stop by Arc Sophia in town to strategize for the fight.

From here, you’ll be able to take a look at the boss’ weakness and pick any partners accordingly. Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment has a number of characters from the anime series that can join your group.

Once you have your team together, you’re ready to fight the boss.

Boss fights will be difficult, but your party will do everything they can to make it easier for you. Teammates can act as a tank at times or help at healing the party. You can target different parts of the boss’ body, but you also have to study its attack patterns in order to successfully land your attacks.

Once the boss’ health drops to a certain point, it will start using special actions. Evil Eye’s special ability activates when it opens its eyes, which is said to instantly put any player in danger.

Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment is slated to be released on March 14th, 2013.

  • Martian Wong

localize it and I will beat it….

  • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

I hope that all the love from Crunchyroll will let some publisher know that this will sell here!

    • Juan Andrés Valencia

To be fair… as popular as it is on Crunchyroll (And other FAIRLY illegal sites), many other popular animes had games that never saw the light in the States or Europe (The [email protected], Evangelion, Gunslinger Girl, Fate/Stay Night, Steins.Gate, etc.). This one haves a bigger chance to be released but I wouldn’t be extremely hopeful about it.

      • Actually, Fate has had a few games localized (not the original VN though), so I don’t think that one counts.

        • Juan Andrés Valencia

We got a fighting game and Fate/Extra but that won’t compensate the fact that we are missing the VN which is one of the best VN’s out there (If not the best IMO).

          • That’s true, but, the games I was referring to were spin offs, much like this SAO game. If we could ever actually get the original VN, I’d be all over it in a heartbeat.

          • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

The Fate VN has been 100% fan translated for many years, read the whole VN years ago.
download here, free and legal. even includes translations for sex scenes if you’re interested and works in Voice overs from PS2 version into PC version.

    • WingsOfEternity

Considering the state of the PSP in the west, it’ll be PSN-only release even if it was localized.

      • Better than nothing!

        • Juan Andrés Valencia

Exactly, otherwise we wouldn’t have something like Corpse Party or The Red Star.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    >Those tiny pics
Though I’m super hyped. Grabbing it as soon as I can.

  • I wonder will the game continue the anime tradition to constantly reuse these tracks for the boss battle…

So I guess when Evil Eyes open its eye it will either eye beam or stun us?

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

This game does look better and better.^_^ And i hope they will add even more crazy boss for the game here.
I need more .hack style of game.^_^

    • Curan_Altea

There’s no such thing as too much .hack//.
While I hope this gets localized I’m ready to import it eventually. Being a PSP rpg for an anime localization seems unlikely.

      • dotzeno

        loving the .hack love here.
my one disappointment about this is that they aren’t making a console version. I don’t know how well E.X. Troopers did on the 3ds, but it was incredibly fun playing it on the ps3 and I’m glad they did that. I hope they decide to port this later.

Don’t care about localization. Just want this game to stay true to it’s source material as well as being insanely fun.

  • Hmm, this game does have permadeaths in Fire Emblem style, right? Multiple endings depending on who survived?

    • No one has any idea. Well maybe the moonreaders have…. But my bet is tht you will just restart frm your last save if you died XD

      • Looked around… since Sinon is here, and this is supposed to be level 76-100, then that means this is re-started SAO and not the fry-your-brain permadeath SAO. Phew?

        • To be exact: They KOed Kayaba, but they are still stuck. So they have no choice but to dungeon crawl to level 100. Also, they said this game is a what if scenario.

          • Hmm, this could be interesting. Lets wait for more news of how the game works

  • gamerdude

does this game have permadeath? That would make me buy it. I want a challenge.

  • David García Abril

“Waifu Art Online” looks better and better, indeed. lol

I just hope they will fix some of the anime storyline issues.

    • If you are worried abt side story hopping, I think it wouldn’t happen here. The cast is ady at Floor 7X ady.

      • David García Abril

I mean that they fix some storylines that were rushed in the anime, like Yui’s sub-plot, or the Black Cats debacle.

Also, giving more depth to the characters and changing some of the Deus Ex Machina shenanigans would be nice, but I doubt they will mess around with those.

        • Seink

They are not going to fix it, they are going to break it even more. Just a few pointers: Suguha`s char will be present (my guess is they will say some #$%^& about how the fairy world is connected and now she was forced to join the fun against her will or something, oh yeah, and she will have lost her memory but will still fall in love with onii-chan despite the fact that there should be as many as 5k players and her level would be too low to go to the same mazes and ….ok lets stop here), there is a character with a bow (yeah, this one will surely never be explained, but facts are, in the original novel/world, there were NO LONG RANGE WEAPONS), and, correct me if Im wrong, but, all attacks in the game are called sword arts……back in the original, while all players could use skills called sword arts (even if your weapon is a hammer :p) that doesn’t make ALL KINDS OF ATACKS SWORD ARTS, in fact, in the battle against the all powerfull admin last boss, the only way to win against him was to use no SWORD ARTS at all, since Kayaba knew all sword arts and would exploid the timing of the attacks to counter, so when Kirito used his best Sword Art Skill, it was dodged and countered defeating him (yeah, yeah, then kirito goes against the system and defeats kataba before disapearing….damn beater :p )

  • TheExile285

I don’t know I still come to the PSP section. All it does is tease games I want that will never be localized.

Has the anime even been announced for a Western release yet?

  • TyeTheCzar

There had better be a minigame based on Chapter 16.5….

  • Shogunreaper

A turned based fighting game, how exciting!

    • Its an RPG…..

      • Seink

there are RPGs with action in the fight, look at “tales of” serie….than again, this one doens’t seen like one of them….

        • If you look at the trailers, you can see it somewhat Tales like with Swordskill in place of artes.

  • Will it only be available on PlayStation?
