Deus Ex:Human Defiance Trademark Hints At The Future Of Deus Ex

By Spencer . February 27, 2013 . 1:12am

image Deus Ex: Human Revolution sold well enough to become one of Square Enix’s core series. And like all money making franchises, Square Enix probably has a Deus Ex sequel in the works.

Perhaps, that’s what this Deus Ex: Human Defiance trademark is for. Square Enix Europe registered the term in Europe. Deux Ex: Human Defiance could also be the name for a port or if Square Enix wants to introduce Adam Jensen to a group of gamers that don’t have Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC or Mac. One other long shot idea is Deus Ex: Human Defiance is the name for the upcoming film adaptation. Any guesses?

No. Please no. But I honestly wouldn’t be surprised.

I hope it’s a new game in the series. Human Revolution was a great game and I’d love to see more with the setting and approach to freedom in gameplay.

  • Deus ex is one of my favourite series, if this is a new game then my head will explode.

    What they should do:
    – Make a third person shooter
    – Co-create with Kojima Productions
    – Make a female main character

    • Sal

how about Malik as the main character? that would be awesome

      • Asaoko

How about a character you can customize?! And coats! COATS!!! The way Adam floats down!

  • Wake

I didn’t ask asked for this.

    • Kai2591

      I totally asked for this!

  • Masa

SE proably has a remake for this already in the works for the vita and ps3, xD.

Human Revolution was brilliant, if they can put that same level of effort in and aim for the same quality (without outsourcing the bosses, too), then there’s nothing to worry about. That’s if it’s a sequel at all, of course.

The name alone is very interesting, maybe suggesting the ability to go without augments (to “defy” the evolution forced on some by biotech advancements, as it were)?

    • Kai2591

Agreed. The boss battles were too easy I killed them all with just that mini taser gun. I wasn’t even trying to kill them – thought I could just stun them.

      • AJ

Disagree. If you (like myself) are playing a pure stealth, non-lethal character and put zero points into gun skills, then the bosses are miserable. I actually gave up on the 2nd boss. And I still consider it one of the best games I have ever played!

And the nature of a game centred around choice punishing wrong choices is…..not good?

But seriously – just put an option to skip the boss battles. That’s all I want. “Press X to just move on”.

        • Kai2591

Actually I played pure-stealth non-lethal in the earlier parts of the game, and I don’t remember upgrading gun skills. Well it wasn’t ‘that’ easy, but I mean, as long as i keep shooting the bosses with the stun gun, they couldn’t make a move till they die! haha~

Not saying I don’t like the game though – I love it! been wishing for a follow-up in some way :)

        • SirRichard

He’s not wrong, you could stun-lock the first two bosses with the stun gun, just standing there emptying darts into them (your reload finishes before their stunned animation does), any augments related to the gun doesn’t help with it in any way.

And really, if they were to let you skip the boss fights, I’d rather it be like the original and let you run away, instead of just hitting a button to “win”.

  • Asaoko

And here I thought Deus Ex failed to sell well enough… Well, I read that somewhere. …The Last Remnant sold okay, and the battle system is beyond awesome so… Maybe… Yeahhh, impossible…

Welp, I sure look forward to it! I enjoy the many ways you can use to beat the game. I’m not the gung-ho type, after all.

    • AJ

I had an impossible time finding the game in my city for about 2 months after it came out.

    • Wha? Deus Ex has done very well.

  • If it is a sequel, I would want Michael McCann to do the soundtrack – totally immersed me into the DE:HR game. DE:HR, also inFamous and Batman: Arkham City, made me more open to add more action-orientated titles to my collection. Wouldn’t say no to another DE game.

If it’s for the movie, I will be looking forward to seeing the trailer(s) for it.
