A Gardening Robot Learning About Love And An Angel That’s Afraid Of Water

By Sato . March 3, 2013 . 10:43am

In addition to the two difficulty modes, Sega also gave us a look at the character sub-scenario system in Shining Ark. By increasing character impression points, their sub scenarios can be triggered. The sub-scenarios will continue to progress along the main story.

Here’s a peek at some of Shining Ark’s sub scenarios:

– Panis hates water?

The villagers gave the crew some swimming gear to go for a nice dip, but for some reason, Panis refuses to go in the water and seems rather afraid of it…

– Shanon sprouts faint thoughts.

Shanon wanted to talk to Freed as his sister but she seems to have some sort of internal conflict going on.

– Viola’s other side?

Whenever she sees a classroom, she can’t seem to stand still. Could it be some sort of inner strict teacher side to her?

– The feelings that programs don’t have.

Adam begins to show an interest in ‘love’. It’s hard enough explaining it to another person, but a gardening robot?

– The elf princess that ventures the world on a boat.

What could the elf girl who has grown faint from the travels around different worlds be thinking about?

These plot lines may be vague at first but as your relationship grows with these characters and many others, the sub-scenario story will unfold in Shining Ark.

If only I can read / speak Japanese….

  • MrTyrant

Elwin? again? what is she doing here?

    • Abyan Haidar

take a look at Viola.. she’s practically this world’s Sakuya

      • s07195

I think it’s pretty much a plot thread/running gag by now.

    • TatsuyaKyo

I think it has become a tradition for at least one character in previous T2 Shining games to appear in new ones, alternate dimensions/dream worlds be damned.

      • MrTyrant

One, yeah. Now we have three: Viola (who looks like Sakuya) the android and Elwyn. That’s what i was saying. Now I don’t know but probably is the real one.

        • TatsuyaKyo

I think I read somewhere that Sakuya is connected to the world, or something like that, which is why there is multiple versions of herself that share her personality and habits (well, kinda). The article mentioned her being a teacher, which reminded me of a conversation in Blade about Sakuya being the one who taught Rage how to use a sword, so I guess it’s like that.

I dunno what the deal is with Rana and Kerberos though. :P

  • A Gardening Robot? Not the first or 500th time I’ve seen one. Though, the last one I’ve seen who fits the description is the Player Character (Default Name “Life”) from “Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon”.

    • TatsuyaKyo

Aaaah, I remember that one. It was fun, but I was disappointed you couldn’t romance with anyone despite being a Harvest Moon game, so I shelved it a few days after learning that. I don’t regret buying it though.

  • TatsuyaKyo

Dammit, Tony Taka. Why are your femalecharacter designs very appealing?

  • Göran Isacson

Adam, know that you are not alone. In fact, take your time to say it to the MC… with song.

If my mind jumping to the robot singing that song to the MC as soon as I saw that headline makes me a bad person, then by God, SO BE IT.

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well Panis does have wings there. We can’t get those wings wet don’t we lol.^_^

    • M’iau M’iaut

Oh I’m sure it’s just because such makes here that much more moe.

Look at Shannon’s — “Shanon wanted to talk to Freed as his sister but she seems to have some sort of internal conflict going on.”

That conflict wouldn’t be she wants to have mad sex with her ‘brother’ would it?

      • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

…………… DON’T you ruin my pure imagination here.T_T

        • M’iau M’iaut

Those girls all look so pissed off at the MC.

          • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

It is the fate of many harem M.C actually. First the girls will hate him but after a few action by the M.C, they are all lovey lovey with him lol.^^

          • TatsuyaKyo

It’s better that way. I like it when the protagonist actually has to make an effort to obtain the girl’s affection, compared to other anime/game where the girls like the protagonist simply because he’s there (or he is simply good-looking enough to make girls fall for him the first time they see him).

        • TatsuyaKyo

…They’re not even related. Freed simply happens to know her family for a long time, and him calling her ‘Nee-chan’ doesn’t necessarily mean they are ‘real’ family.

          • M’iau M’iaut

Would blood really eliminate the possibility in a game such as this?

          • TatsuyaKyo

Of course not. This is a game from Japan.

  • Andar

Adam must have learned something, he looks a lot less ‘blue’ than he did in Shining Force Exa. Less, um, ugly too.
