Elminage Original Patch Is In The Pipeline

By Spencer . March 7, 2013 . 5:35pm

elmUFO Interactive picked up the Wizardry-like dungeon crawler Elminage Original from Starfish and quietly released the PSP version on the PlayStation Store. Keeping with their current state of announcement murmurs, UFO Interactive said they are working on a patch for Elminage Original. It’s unclear what the patch will address since all we have is a picture of Professor Farnsworth who delivered the news. (That wasn’t a joke.)

Elminage Original is available now for $14.99.

Maybe bug fixes for the text? Aaaand since they’re bothering with Elminage again, wouldn’t surprise me if they’d localise another one :-D! Hope so!

Rumor has it that they’re planning on doing II, III, AND Gothic! Maybe they want to clean up their rep first. And KiTA nailed it; the dialogue is actually competently written. Only gameplay stuff is borked.

    That game translation was….not spectacular…

So I’ve heard. If the patch at least cleans it up, I’ll most likely buy the game, because I can’t resist a first person dungeon crawler.

    • KiTA

Wrong. The actual game’s script was tollerable-to-great.

The SYSTEM MESSAGES, such as menus and battle text, were completely worthless.

Key point: The UFO Team apparently didn’t DO the System Messages, the Japanese devs did. And someone put the original Japanese text of the menus into Google Translate and — yeah. Exact match.

Thanks for clarifying, I missed out the details regarding this localization :)

  • Zharkiel

Hopefully they’ll fix the race names too

  • Wait, a “patch”? But there’s no patching mechanism for PSP games. What are they going to do, get the game re-certified? How would they intend to make, you know, money?

I’ve been keeping an eye on this for a while, but I cant help but wonder what exactly does this game bring to the table that makes it worth buying (At $15 at least)
