Fate/Extra CCC Has Auto Battle Mode For Players Who Prefer To Watch Fights

By Spencer . March 12, 2013 . 11:24pm

Famitsu detailed some of the features that should make Fate/Extra CCC more friendly for newcomers. The game has an auto battle option that automatically selects commands for your party members.

When you’re inside the school area, there’s a dungeon shortcut option that lets players jump to areas. The game also tells players their goals if you forgot where you’re going.

Fate/Extra CCC also has a character customization mode where you can change clothes, equip graphics, and alter coloring.

That’s kinda….boring. Even if its optional, it kinda takes away from the gameplay.

    • Nightmesh

Well if you look at it more like a way to speed up a battle while grinding then its not so bad. You could go make a snack or use it when someone is talking to you. It’s just an option much like auto battle in final fantasy 13.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

For the lazy self within me, didn’t you still need to click on the button in FF13? I call that semi-Auto :(
        One button too much /s

        • Nightmesh

Well it is the default in 13 so you kinda get spoon feed to think you have to use it. I wont lie. I used it through out 13 but never touch it in 13-2 for some reason. XD Lazys unite!

When the gameplay consisted of rock paper scissors, then no. Come back when they add in more enemy and gameplay variety.

      • My thoughts exactly. Besides, I doubt auto battle means that the computer will accurately guess all of the enemies moves (except for when more complete battle patterns are given to you).

        • Exactly. It will only choose the right counter to the revealed move and go random on ??? moves. I wouldn’t be surprise tht the computer will intentionally give the wrong counter more often.

  • Zenthos

Auto battles just kill rpg games, then again, some optional choices wont hurt anyone, right?

    • PoweredByHentai

Depends. In Suikoden 2, using auto-battle was pretty much the fastest way to plow through any grinding endeavor.

      • MrTyrant

        Never auto-battled in Suikoden 2.

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

Depends, if you’re FFXIII then auto-battle is the devil’s idea. If you’re another JRPG its just an option that can’t hurt.

    • Ni

On Tales Auto battle is a awesome way to grind (you know how boring is to lvl up the costumes in nakirdan X?)

      • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Just avoid Tales of Destiny DC, or else Barbatos for dat ass.

        • Ni

lol True. Inf HP Barby after twenty minutes just for our pleasure.

  • Pythia Brixham

Um… here’s an idea that ALL jrpgs need. I do not mind “auto-battles” even thought they bug the crap outta ma. But ALL jrpgs need a “skip battle animations” option.

    • roxas sora

eh?skip battle animation?then it will look lame.(well we have difference opinion)

    • Göran Isacson

True fax. It may be cool to look at the first, oh, five times or so, but when you’re grinding you just want as little time wasted on cutscenes as possible. One of the things I actually like about Neptunia, and Disgaea did good with that as well.

    • lolipown

      Fire Emblem has it

  • Guest

Even the devs know that the people buying Fate/Extra CCC don’t want to play it so they made it able to play itself. Is it still a game anymore or is it just an interactive anime.

    • Time and Eternity / Asura Wrath is an interactive anime. This is still a VN slash RPG.

  • fyi1191

That screen shows, a battle between Unknowns?
I hope that’s an opening where we watch the mighty Gilgamesh slaying that mongrel Lancer.

  • This just seems like it will take all the fun out of the game though.

    • Depends on individual actually.

  • Christopher Nunes

Equip graphics and alter coloring? Wait… does that mean we can change the color of our Protagonist’s hair and eye colors as well as clothing? OK that sounds awesome if it’s true!

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Never used {auto-battles} unless the game had a crazy random battle Ratio

  • I welcome the auto battle with open hands. This should make grinding easier.

I can play dress up with my servant :D Let dress Gil in the most embarassing outfit XD

    • Mavalex

      Or…y’know….nothing at all :x
      *cough cough*

  • Göran Isacson

So it’s essentially a way to make the game even more like a Visual Novel?… I… guess that makes sense considering what it started out as?

  • Ni

This will make the grinding in this game alot less boring

  • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Wait, since the RPS system is in place, if you place auto battle on, won’t that mean AI is going in Blind at first? It will have function the same way you would, trying to figure out the pattern’s of enemies. Sure it was rock paper scissors, but the challenge and fun of the first game was memorizing the patterns of the enemies and beating them to a point where the game rewards you by revealing more and more of the pattern to make battles easier. Going in with auto battle on makes AI go in blind with possibly less chance of getting patterns right.

    • It works like this: It will pick the suitable counter to the revealed move and pick a random one for the unknown move.

      • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Yeah it works but it’s not a good thing unless AI can figure out patterns.

  • Clifford Michael

If any game should have an auto-battle option, it’s this one. Once I unlocked the entire sequence for an enemy while playing the first one, the gameplay got a bit stale.

First glimpse of CCC battle interface.
It’s hard to see, but in the screenshot Archer’s wearing glasses (the color of which you can even change, it seems).

If I can set auto-battle to
    Merciful Sky->Curse: _____ Heaven->Merciful Sky->Curse: _____ Heaven->Merciful Sky->Curse: _____ Heaven
    then we’re good

  • Vash bane

what do’s it mean by party members?
