Next Neptunia Game Is For PlayStation Vita [Update: Release Date Added]

By Spencer . March 12, 2013 . 6:36pm

Dengeki PlayStation followed up with more news about Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia PP. The magazine announced the game will be released for PlayStation Vita. Details about what kind of game this is have not leaked online yet.

NIS America has been pretty committed to localizing the Neptunia titles, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see them release this one, too.

Meanwhile, Hyperdimesion Neptunia Victory is scheduled to come out next week. Sato has been playing the English version for a couple of weeks so we’ll have more on that soon.

Update: Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia PP is slated for release on June 20. The game will cost 6,279 yen in stores or 5,300 yen on PlayStation Network. Compile Heart will also sell an 8,379 yen limited edition.

  • Excellent news!

  • tubers

Wonder if it’s a full game.. Can’t believe they’ve already mentioned having an Eng. version.. FOR THE VITA nonetheless.

Guess they’re following suit due to Senran, Mon2, etc. success?

    • No

Victory will have an english version next week. No word on the Idol game yet.

    • NISA haven’t announced this for the U.S. yet. We’ve updated the post to make it clearer.

  • ヴァルラシュ

    dammit compile heart, why

  • I surrender, Sony. You win. I’ll pay your ridiculous Vita memory card prices for my Neptunia fix, dammit.

    • Testsubject909

Why? If you make use of the backup feature and keep to something like a half a dozen medium sized games or a dozen small ones, you really don’t need much else other then a 4GB memory card, unless you insist on always having your whole library of digital portable games on you at all time. In which case even a larger memory card will see some problems with some Vita games going into the 2-4GB range.

      • In my area, I have two choices for internet: A bandwidth cap that makes downloading large games more than once impossible without exorbitant fees, or a connection speed so slow that downloading a single game takes over an hour.

        • Kevadu

You can keep games on your PS3, though. And I think PC as well if you use Sony’s special software (though I’ve never used it since I don’t run windows…). You don’t have to redownload everytime.

          • I have not heard of this. Certainly worth looking into when I get the system.

        • Testsubject909

I’m mainly talking about relying on having retail games to switch around carried with you in your case and just having a few digital items while letting the rest be either on your PC’s HDD or in your PS3’s HDD to swap around when you get back home.

Also. Downvoted for stating that you have bandwidth problem?

Who is this retarded downvoter going around just trollin?

Ah… well whatever, if he or she gets a kick out of just doing the equivalent of randomly giving the finger to passerby because it gives them a kick, good for em.

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

So just buy the one that costs less than $20 and then buy your games physical. Getting a Vita doesn’t mean you absolutely need a 32GB stick.

      • I was going to buy this particular game physical anyway (I ALWAYS buy limited editions). But there are a lot of download-only titles I’d inevitably end up getting as well, since I never owned a PSP.

        • FitzpatrickPhillips

There aren’t that many download-only titles and plus, you can just backup what you’re not using. No bandwidth used and very quick.

          • I’m sort of trying to imply that my getting a Vita would lead me to dig into the PSP back-catalogue, which I can only access through download.

Otherwise I’d just buy physical and completely avoid the issue.

      • almostautumn

        Still rocking that 4Gb!
Also, I haven’t come across a vita title that surpasses 4gb, and so, while it’s a pain in the ass, you can always just back-up your saves, delete, and download another.
*not making excuses for the outrageous prices; just letting you know, is all :)*

    • Mazdian

Just keep an eye on their prices; there are some sales intermittently. Recently got a 32 GB for 50USD.

  • RoxasTheUnknown1

So glad I knocked getting a Vita out the way. Can’t wait! Though that probably means this is a side game of sorts set in series canon after all.

  • xXDGFXx

Ah… well… debt it is then!

    • Testsubject909

Hi Five! Ah… no wait, that’s not exactly worth celebrating is it.

      • xXDGFXx

        Well… we can try!

To poor financial decisions! *Lifts cup of instant ramen*

  • Interesting, I’ll have to keep an eye on this.

  • Dietrich

Looks like I now have two reasons to get a Vita: this and Soul Sacrifice

  • z_merquise

I kind of figured Noire’s fans would be like this. . .

Like what? Happy with the news?

  • FetusZero

Aw man Atelier and now this -_-

To say I had to change my GPU instead of buying a Vita.. not that it’s a bad thing, I still have plenty of time before this one comes around, IF it comes around (of course it will!).

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Oh man this is a brilliant idea. Hopefully with production costs lower, they can improve in other areas.

  • DanijoEX

Ah… even better! I’m going to love it.

  • Kenyuu

  • HerosLight

I won’t be getting a Vita anytime soon, so I guess i’ll have to skip this one until I find a really cheap Vita.

But I’m glad the series is still continuing.

    • jujubee88

If you have a Sony store close to you, pop by. :O

  • Salute Compile Heart for your Vita support!

  • Rentekabond

As long as Melissa Fahn continues being Neptune, I’ll keep my eyes open.

  • Renzouri

I’m very hopeful this comes out in the West. NISA is very diligent in localizing their games indeed.

  • A reason to get a vita, OMG!!!!

  • Testsubject909

I wonder who the mysterious nameless stalking downvoter is and why he went around downvoting most people here.

On a side note. That’s rather pleasant news… And my backlog will probably grow more because of it.

    • FetusZero

I was just about to comment about that.. it’s as if there’s a single downvoter going on a spamming spree.

      • jujubee88

        T’was me. I CAN”T TAKE THE GUILT! Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful. ;__;

      • Testsubject909

he/she is even downvoting completely neutral comments. I think it’s just someone having fun. Eh, forget it then.

    • revenent hell

Disqus should really implement something…Like if you vote, you have to leave a comment.
Personally I think its a useless feature myself, since discussion boards are to discuss opinions and thoughts, I really don’t get why they should be voted upon.

      • Testsubject909

        Nah, simpler.

Return the ability to see who your up-voters are and, coincidentally, who your downvoters are.

Being able to identify who the mindless hater is makes it simpler in the long term for certain things and for who to watch out for in terms of whether or not to take them seriously.

        • PoweredByHentai

        • revenent hell

Totally, if very late, I agree. I much preferred the other system.

      • Bad idea, the whole point of upvote is to remove the endless chain of posts saying “This” without adding any additional content.

  • Jack Frazee

I really prefer playing on a TV, but hey, I’ll take it. More Neptunia is always welcome, in any form and on any console.

  • Clifford Michael

SO EXCITED. I have not had the chance to play a Neptunia game due to lack of a PS3. My Vita is ready.

  • Josephl64

Cool, another new vita game I didn’t expect that I have to get :)

  • Wondering_Zero

Oh cool. It’ll go with that Neptune Shirt I ordered from NISA…Though with a name like that I can’t help but feel it’ll be a spinoff.

Something tells me it’s going to be a rhythm game…Possibly in the same vane as that one PSP Idolmaster game. I’d buy it.

    • ninjapresident

I don’t know why it would be, but I would buy the heck out of it if it was.

  • DesmaX

oh, that’s nice. I don’t think it would be a good idea to release this on the PS3. There’s 3 games in the series now for it

  • Juuu

As a college student who lives in a teensy dorm room with a TV that doesn’t even support a SNES, let alone a PS3, this is the BEST franchise news I’ve heard in a while! ;p Now I can enjoy some Nep Nep in between classes and on my lunch break!

I hope we get some game details soon. Being an idolmaster fan, fingers crossed for imas-esque producing elements! ;p

    • DesmaX

Wait, you can buy a Vita, but not a good TV? what

      • Kevadu

I didn’t have a TV at all when I was in college…space is an issue too, you know.

      • Juuu

It’s just because it’s my dorm. It’s small, and the TV stand we have is also small, so we just have a tiny TV and my PS3 is at home, where I only go once every other week or so during the school year. So I still have consoles, just not up at school with me, so I play a LOT more handheld games now.

        • DesmaX

          Oh ok

I remember, one day I tried to put my PS3 in a 14 inches TV… I had nightmares that night.

    • How about playing on a monitor? That would be a nice solution to ps3 playing.

  • Godman

I love how this series is growing!
But alas I have not a Vita :'( Though I am happy Vita players will get to experience this awesome series

  • Andrew Arndt

  • サレム

Going to put that touchscreen to good use.

  • TheExile285

NISA, localize thus and I will buy it DAY ONE!

  • Yes! Day 1 for me =^_^=

  • Aristides

We need all these great vita games localized!!!!! In the name of western J-rpg fanbase and developers!!!! lol

  • HassanJamal

    Hehehehe PP

  • gamefreak86

Love it. My vita will be waiting for it.

  • does that mean i have to buy a vita now?

    • jujubee88

Go to the Sony store nearest you. ;)

  • cedx123

Hooray for Nep Nep!! Guess its time to save up for a vita and the limited edition for when Nis America announces it.

  • noctis_nox

Cool! But I still don’t have a Vita yet.
Being poor is really uncool. :(

    • Testsubject909

Now. I have zero idea why someone downvoted you.

      • ワン スャレ

        D-don’t worry noctis-kun! I upvoted you!

        • noctis_nox

          I actually don’t mind the downvote. :)
But super thanks for the upvote!!

  • Charles

Time to dust off my Vita.

  • Arrei

Hmm, I’m… honestly not sure how to feel about this trend. At this rate it’s feeling like the most notable thing pulling the Vita out of the pit it’s currently in is a steady flow of otaku-centric games, which isn’t going to do much for the system when it comes to getting other releases…

    • almostautumn

I don’t see it as so extreme just yet. I mean, I see Monpiece, Senran, Photokano, and *arguably* this; wouldn’t say that they’re the most “notable” of games for the system though when the RPG market is absolutely bursting for the platform (for Asian gamers, at least).
Also, Monpiece and Senran are outrageously great games. Maybe they’re alienating the female audience, but I wouldn’t trump them as just Otaku-aimed; they’re really enjoyable, and just offer solid gameplay and designs.
EDIT: Forgot about the Hunting genre, which is just exploding for the system. That’s probably the real draw right now also, even more so than the RPG market.

    • Luna Kazemaru

I don’t see how its bad atleast someone is supporting the damn system then let it die

      • Arrei

Support’s fine and good, but what concerns me is long-term support. Remember how the western market for the PSP just sorta shriveled up and died after a while? I don’t want a repeat of that, but if the only thing the Vita becomes known for is being “the” system for otaku games featuring moe girls, a repeat performance could be just what we’re in for.

I’m saying all this while liking several of these games myself, mind you, but it just feels like too many of them too close together, leaving little room for other titles of note.

        • psycho_bandaid

I dont think vita games from japan are going to make a very healthy western market, otaku bait or no. For the vita to succeed with the mainstream here it would need some high profile games from western studios.

  • randominternetperson

Vita is looking strong for the Japanese

    • Testsubject909

*looks at some of the items suggested for sale*

      Man… That’s one good looking red PSVita…

And I’m still surprised the price they list is 160$ for a 32GB memory card.

I live in Canada, all the shops I go to has that 32GB memory card set for 99$.

  • Zenthos

Why couldn’t they have just released it for both the ps3 and vita? I woudnt want to buy a 250$ portable console just to play it. If they think this would increase ps vita sales to a recognizable amount, they have another thing coming.

    • psycho_bandaid

compile heart has seen some success on the Vita so maybe they are feeling a bit lucky. Also porting games isnt free, so maybe they figured they would save a bit of money.

  • Always good news. Seems like a good home for the series anyways.

  • Zeonsilt

Rhythm game?RPG?Either is good for me~.

  • malek86

I’m not exactly surprised, but at the same time, I can’t imagine how much it will sell. The series is already quite niche as is, but maybe being on the PSV will help. Depending on how much they market this game, it could actually sell more than the PS3 ones (those were around 50k lifetime, so it needs to get over that much… it’s not impossible).

  • Sentsuizan_93

Better start saving for a Vita then…..

  • Anonymous

The reason why i don’t want a portable is that if i buy a 3DS i will also buy a Vita, And vice versa, And i don’t want 2 portables

  • Oh well, a neptunia game I won’t buy. Just not a Sony fan anymore, so taking games as they come on my ps3, then giving Nintendo a try this generation.

  • Victor Wesker

Too bad it’s not on PS3. I don’t have vita and i will not buy it.

  • These character designs are precious.

    How’s the game-play?

    • Brandonmkii

First game was pretty bad. Second game was a lot better. Not sure how Victory is, but if it’s at least better than Mk2 then the gameplay shouldn’t be that bad. Oh, but don’t have any reservations about the story, it’s all fluff haha.

      • I figured. About the story, that is.

Feels a lot like a Disgaea game, mood wise, from the discussions, heh.

  • Adol Christin

    YES! More Vita games :)

    • Leon_Tekashi

Yup, I’m going with a rhythm game idea for this one.

    • TheExile285

Aw, it’s gonna be like the Miku games? I wanted an RPG :/

Oh well, if it gets localized, I’ll still buy it

      • VisualData

Miku game is way better. At least that game has rhythm and a beat to play. Instead you just make the girls make faces and twirls during sequences and are judged points. Really lame.

  • gustave154

    Yes i’ll bite!!

  • Raltrios

Dammit. I wanna play the first three, but I lack a PS3. I’ll also want to play this, but I lack a Vita.

Well, at least a Vita purchase is easier to sneak past your family… :D

  • Mister_Nep

Yay! Very excited to find out more about this game. I wonder most of all what genre this game will be. I already happily own a Vita so I just need for this game to get released.

  • Ni

Why the down vote fest on anyone who is going to buy the game and/or a vita? o_õ

  • VisualData

If this is like Disgaea Infinite I’ll be sad
