Shin Megami Tensei IV Has Over 100 Challenge Quests

By Spencer . March 12, 2013 . 11:50pm

imageWorried that Shin Megami Tensei IV will be too easy? The game will have over 100 challenge quests for players to complete. These extra quests are tied to side stories and sometimes you’ll get mission requests from demons.

Famitsu also revealed the Digital Devil Service, which uses StreetPass to interact with other players. You start by creating a profile card and selecting a demon you want to develop. After doing so many StreetPasses the demon will grow and you might even get a rare item as a reward. Its also possible to do a special kind of fusion with other players.

Shin Megami Tensei IV is scheduled for release on May 23 in Japan.

“Worried that Shin Megami Tensei IV will be too easy?”

That thought never even entered my mind, actually. ;)

I wonder what happens when Mara grows :D

since i only get streetpass one day a year(get around 20 in that day), this is pretty useless to me, seeing as hardly anyone will get this game where I live, as SMT is the most niche series there is

  • I feel like they’re dropping the ball on StreetPass here. There’s more to be done than simple demon growth via StreetPass. We’ve seen Dragon Quest, Animal Crossing and a whole bunch of other games take advantage of StreetPass in very obvious ways, and these have all affected sales to some extent, so I’m a little surprised that Atlus aren’t being more thoughtful in this regard.

Yeah, I wish they could allow us to do demon team battles via StreetPass a la StreetFighter 3DS.

      • I think it could go even beyond that. Demon trading, learning moves from other players, affecting negotiations. There are a lot of possibilities.

But people who don’t get tags miss out on big stuff then. It’s best they keep features non-essential, otherwise, the Western butthurt shall take over the world.

I hope we get quests like the Anthony side-quests from Strange Journey. Funny quests like those are a nice change of pace imo.

I’ve had 2 streetpass hits during this year and I carry my 3ds with me EVERYWHERE also I live in the biggest city of this country.

PLEASE don’t let this be super important for the gameplay.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

I ran through main street of my town (distance runner and small town), No Street Passes lol

      • MrTyrant

Same here, i doubt i would be able to find another person with a 3ds in my small town.

      • The person above my apartment has a 3DS lol

Same dude, It’s really hard to find someone with street pass on in europe, outside UK.

The biggest problem is I live in Poland, and I bought a US 3ds so I can get games faster, and with street pass for games that aren’t comming out in EU I’m in a big black …..

  • IshimaruKaito

did thy announce this over here yet??

  • LonelyGamer

How about another “Morning Star” quest ? I want to see how strong is Lucifer before putting him in my Party

  • MrTyrant

Getting 100 quest is easy for most games but those being sidestories are a very different matter for me, I love that.

Ironically, I wasn’t worried about the game’s difficulty prior to this report, but now I am.

The fact that they feel the need to assure us that the game is going to be challenging by including these Challenge Quests (that they’re specifically called “Challenge Quests” is something that raises a red flag in itself) means that there is a possibility that the base game itself is NOT challenging, so these Challenge Quests exist to compensate for that.

  • Yeah, they did something similar in Strange Journey, witht the EX Missions. This definitely adds some variety to the game, I like it :)

  • Brandon001

So are these seperate from sidequests, or are these THE sidequests?

  • gamerdude

Why can’t they use the wifi-spots instead like denpa men? At least that way the rest of us wouldn’t be missing on a big part of the product we pay for =(
