Kingdom Hearts X[chi] Is Kind Of Like Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories

By Spencer . March 13, 2013 . 12:29am

Square Enix revealed details about Kingdom Hearts X[chi], a PC browser game set in the Kingdom Hearts universe. Players will adventure through Disney worlds and fight Heartless using cards. While Kingdom Hearts X[chi] is a card battling game it appears the battle system is different from Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.

Auron – Slash
Wakka – Blizzard
Yuffie – Thunder

Wakka – Thrust
Yuffie – Thunder
Squall – Slash

Just like the Kingdom Hearts mobile game, Kingdom Hearts X[chi] lets players create a custom character by choosing a hair style, gender, and various accessories. The game will have Disney and Square Enix costume items. The gameplay has simple point and click controls. You can move around by using the mouse on fields that have treasure and different gimmicks. If you run into an enemy a card battle begins. The main enemy in the game are "Lux" and you can use battle cards to fight them. Kingdom Hearts X[chi] also has raid bosses that appear several times a day. Players will need to cooperate to defeat these powerful enemies. If you’re not used to building a collectable card game battle deck you can use the recommended feature and have the game make a deck for you. Cards can be synthesized and you can also power up your character’s keyblade.

Kingdom Hearts X[chi] will be a free to play game with extra items available to purchase. Square Enix is looking for closed beta testers and you can apply here if you have a Yahoo! Japan id. Closed beta testers will get five Ethers, five potions, 10,000 munny, and  2,000 card draw points.

    Color me exceedingly disinterested.

  • Nightmesh

It’s all gone. All interest. See them walking way. Bye little guys.

Was hoping for some thing like coop in birth by sleep but expanded upon in mmo world exploring form type thing.

  • gamerdude

So what franchise HAVEN’T they dipped in sewage poo of browser ios crap yet?

I’m calling it Vagrant Story will get an social micro transactions game.
    Because A) it’s a beloved Squaresoft franchice
    B) Everybody is DYING for a sequel
    C) everybody would hate for it to happen

When all these factors are going on it seems a disgraceful f2p game is just a matter of time when it happens. Any other guesses?

    • Randy Marsh

Hey, hey, I got a secret, Square-Enix said no more social games will be made! Oh wait, that wasn’t a secret that was actual news from last week, pay attention!

      • gamerdude

        That’s shocking news!
and I don’t believe it for a second. We’ll see when and if they walk the walk.

        • Randy Marsh

Mobile division producer Takehiro Ando confirmed this himself. He said they want to focus on their “epic and famous” console games again. Yeah, All the Bravest did that bad I guess

And at last, the social gaming fever of Square-Enix finally comes to an end with this…..hopefully.

          • gamerdude

At least we can hope that that fiasco did SOMETHING right (by being horrible) if they truly change.

          • Elvick

I would hope it did worse than bad. I’d hope it sold nothing, but I know it sold something. Which is too much.

            All the Bravest is ridiculousness.

I hope they stick to that, because I could see it shift quickly.

      • Mike

Don’t be an ass; would you honestly believe them at this point anyway? I wouldnt be surprised if E3 rolls around and they announce one of their older games getting an IOS port and/or spin-off mini game in addition to their normal news.

        • Randy Marsh

iOS ports of older games are not social games. Now you’re getting genres confused.

  • I wish they didn’t make it look like a cheap flash game. Most browser games nowadays actually look pretty on the visual side.

    • Nightmesh

HECK YEAH! Have you seen chronoblade? That game looks amazing for a browser game. I knew it was gonna have the card battle system but I was hoping the graphics would be closer to one of the other games. Heck I’d take 358/2 graphics over this. Something about this style just turns me off. =/

    • Seizui

Christ. This comment. Just this. I would not mind the social games as much if they did not look like cheap flash games. I seriously would not mind it as much. If done right, it would have potential.

      • Suzaku

The problem? Most of them ARE cheap flash games.

    • Nicholas Gatewood

Hurr durr, graphics aren’t everything, hurr durr. Sorry, that was my old Nintendo fanboy side coming out, ignore him. Yeah, the game looks like butt and I’m not interested either.

  • Guest

Never really liked CoM’s battle system. The idea that your attacks could get randomly canceled due to the opponent having a better card discouraged combos, which bugged me.

    • I thought it was a neat system, only because it made things more interesting. But from the looks, this game isn’t using CoM’s battle system.

  • Masengan

As long as this has nothing to do with the overall plot, I’m good.

    • LustEnvy

Even if it did have something to do with the plot, the plot is a convoluted mess as it is, so this woouldn’t harm it in any way. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE KH, but the plot is… yeah.

      • Elvick

        The plot is amazing.

        Convoluted =/= bad.

We have enough games that spoon feed the story to you (almost to the point where half of the dialog is redundant, Ni no Kuni did that, and I love that game). I don’t always want a complex story, but I do with my KH.

  • roxas sora

it look like a remake of com on gba.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Ahhh, No

  • Pockystix

    Kairi finally gets a game!

and it’s a browser game! lol

  • Ferrick

why is it that wakka’s card just sounds absolutely wrong ?
Wakka – Thrust… somehow i just imagined shadow kanji out of nowhere thrusting his “little persona” here and there

  • Göran Isacson

Any news on whether that theory of this game being set during the Keyblade wars was utter bogus or not?

    • KHSoraKeyBlade

It will be set during the Keyblade Wars yes.

      • Göran Isacson

Huh. Wonder if they will actually do something with that set-up, or just have it as an excuse to have a bunch of people running around with Keyblades. Also, is there source for that statement anywhere?

        • KHSoraKeyBlade

I remember it was announced ages ago, the general story summary they gave was,
“It is the world of a distant fairy-tale.
The world is full of light.
Various worlds are born in that light and so the light envelopes them.
From the source of Kingdom Heart’s light, there is a x-blade that is protected.
To that limit, the worlds believed in the eternal light.
However, a strong light creates a dark shadow.
From that darkness, anxiety and fear awakened their desire.
With the darkness hidden within the depths of their hearts awakened, chaos began to spread across the worlds.
In order to stop the spread of darkness, those who seek the light created a copy of the x-blade, a Keyblade, and an adventure concerning the fate of the worlds began.”

Considering this game allows for co-op and creating your own character I’m pretty sure you are right in saying that it more than likely is an excuse to use the Keyblade Wars set-up.

  • Unlimax

The funny thing about this story is when people asking a Question ” Can my PC run this game ” and in the end it appears to be a browser flash game xD !

  • Kotarou Tennouji

… wow, way to make me lose interest so quickly in a game Square.

  • TheExile285

    SE has fallen pretty low

  • Pokahontas McGuigan
