Compile Heart Looking For A Publisher To Bring Holy Sorcery Story Overseas

By Spencer . March 19, 2013 . 5:30pm

Anyone want to license a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon-like game for Vita where you play as a girl who delves into dungeons for curry ingredients? Why are we asking? Because Compile Heart is looking for a publisher to bring the game to North America and Europe.

A video from Game Connection shows Compile Heart is also looking for a licensor for Monster Monpiece, although the monster rubbing game might have a harder time getting picked up.

What is Holy Sorcery Story? Catch up on the news here.

  • Play as a girl who delves into dungeons for food ingredients.

I’d play it in a heartbeat.

    • xXDGFXx

      I’d be too hungry :D

      • Sounds like that feeling you’d get when watching Toriko :3

        • Detrimont

finally, someone who understands my (hunger) pain

  • Leon_Tekashi

Where’s NISA when we need them?!

    • OverlordZetta

      Apparently failing miserably.

      • Lilith

How are they “failing miserably”? Do you have any idea how many risque games has NISA published? Ar Tonelico Qoga says hello.

        • ShadowDivz

My collectors edition says it loves it’s home.

    • FetusZero

Probably working on too many projects. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems like NISA has been extremely busy lately, working on titles left and right.

      • MyBodyIsReady

I hope we get more info on The Witch and the hundred knights soon

  • lostforeverinspace

These need to come over my vita hungry.

  • OverlordZetta

    … What, seriously?

Did NISA and CH suddenly not become friends anymore? Or does NISA just hate Vita (or maybe they just decided they hate portables – cough cough where is my Makai Kingdom portable you filthy sons of Prinnies I will pay full price for it – I mean, ahem) now?
Well, least I didn’t import this one yet.

    • Reki Honoo

Maybe NISA is still thinking on it, or they did not show it to them yet.

    • Nisa released a lot of psp games lately ,saying that they hate portables, is pretty dumb

      • Manny Being Manny

Wasn’t Corpse Party localized by Xseed?

        • Ah, my bad, ill fix it, dunno why i related them to CP xD but they still released a lot like hero project and prinny can i be a hero, etc.

That this year they haven’t done much for the vita or well, any portables, is another thing, but at least i wanted to defend that part

      • OverlordZetta

They really haven’t. A lot of NIS portables never even made it over.

      • Daverost

Not enough to bring over two first-party enhanced ports (La Pucelle and Makai Kingdom, though I sort of understand La Pucelle).

        • But this doesn’t means they “hate portables” many had made it here at least, and that is what i was trying to defend

    • Kevin Komic O’Shea

that would make more if they didn’t just bring out p4 golden

    • Flandre Scarlet

I imagine NISA is in a bit of a budget bind, since that’s all they seem to talk about when they’re cutting out parts of the dub with every new release.

    • CirnoTheStrongest

All the others are missing the mark. Monpiece won’t get localized because of the ecchi levels. It has nothing to do with being on the vita or anything. It’s purely the ecchi levels.
Which, sadly, the ecchi is probably the least important part of the game, but Compile heart made it permeate the game way too much.

      • xXDGFXx

The standards of the world are messed up. CG gore, ok. CG sexual themes, sacrilege.

        • No

Don’t you know? Breasts killed 16 billion people in 2012 alone.

          • xXDGFXx

Where’s that Btoom! button popping gif when you need it.

  • Manny Being Manny

Since they didn’t put Mugen Souls Z here, I think thats a good sign that NISA may have already agreed to do that one.

  • Genjo

well it’s good to see they looking for publishers for there games i am sure someone will pick them up!

    • Leon_Tekashi

Maybe they don’t want to have NISA be consumed with localization projects.

  • ohh, someone bring monstermon piece

    • 324234

Just import it. Hell will freeze over before it gets localized. (Or NISA will censor it Mugen-style).

      • I wanted to, but if it comes i can save a good deal of money x-x, as you probably know importing is always a lot more expensive, have already too many games to import like photo kano, and more are appearing like that p3-like~ rpg or sen no kiseki or the what seems to be danganronpa for vita.

        • Yeah, assuming you are in Europe it only gets worse what with the heavy import taxes / custom’s duty fees ._.

It’s either getting a digital copy off PSN or killing wallet-kun again…choices choices!

    • Here’s hoping they bring these gems over. I’ll buy it on my US PSN account if I have to but…!

      please have mercy on us, Europe… ;~;

  • SirRichard

As lovely as it looks, I imagine this sort of game would be a hard sell to even the usual niche publishers, even as a digital release. But who knows, the Vita’s finding its feet, they might find someone yet. It’s good to see them being proactive about this, at least!

Monster Monpiece hasn’t a hope in hell, though, let’s not pretend.

  • DesmaX

Well, if it isn’t NISA, it’s going to be Aksys. Or some other obscure one

  • harmonyworld

    Aksys might?

  • Hmm.. Compile Heart.. =/

  • Jontaku

    Rising Star?

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Ooh I was going to import but I guess I’ll wait. Didn’t think it would get localized

  • Vernika

I call XSEED on this one.

    • Elvick

I could see them taking Holy Sorcery Story, but I can also see them only release that one digitally.

      So no thank you.

  • Draparde

    Sure, i’d love to do it. i have alot of time on my hands and am most certainly the biggest publisher in the universe! ; ;

but on a serious note , i hope someone does bring it over :o i’d give it a shot.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

  • amagidyne

    Midas Interactive sounds about right.

  • almostautumn

Knew it! So glad I didn’t put my money down; I’ve had a feeling that HSS would get localized, or at least pushed for; that game looks like the “cleanest” game CH has ever built, not to mention featuring a familiar gameplay that would also be a first for the Vita (even rogue-haters kind of want a rogue at this point, I should think). I wish we knew a bit more about the overall contents of the in-game though; there’s that swimming suit additional, but I still just don’t see HSS as being too sexualized, no matter it being CH.
As for Monpiece— lmao. I’m more than acquainted with the cultural differences between Japanese/Western products, but Monpiece has had me blushing and cracking up constantly. It’s a great game, don’t take me wrong, but man— there is just no way. It’s one sexy/sex innuendo after another; there is just no way, unless the entire game was rehauled, censored, and cut— in which case that just isn’t worth it anyway (IMO).

    • CirnoTheStrongest

The story itself isn’t really anything like what you said :(
Yeah, a lot of the gameplay aspects are pretty bad, but Mon Mon actually has a decent story.

      • almostautumn

Dude— the few still shots all have the girl’s naked and getting rather audibly “into” their element. It’s a pretty sex-charged game.

  • Daverost

I want both, but I want MonMon more. Make it happen, publishers.

    • xXDGFXx

Let the masses gaze upon us as we molest our OLED, for victory!

Actually, that reminds me, I want Demon’s Gaze stateside as well o_o

  • No

Man, at this point I’ll just mail my wallet along with an arm and a leg to Compile Heart.

  • OMG do want!!!

  • Kai M

Anybody who can bring the Japanese voice audio over should publish it.

  • Though this may still lead to disappointment, I’m glad to hear that they’re trying to get these games out over here. I would buy both in a heartbeat if they did release. Day 1 too.

Hopefully some publisher actually gives them a chance. That would be wonderful!

  • Hopefully both get localized!!!

  • Tooru

This game looks REALLY cute, so I really hope NISA or Aksys brings it over! I’m guessing it’ll be NISA, since they haven’t published too much Vita stuff. The mod at the NISA forums (Houk) said that the Disgaea 3 Vita sales were good, so I’m sure they’ll be interested in more Vita games.

  • Bring on the rubbing lol! I hope both find a publisher soon =^_^=

  • Hikaru Lighthalzen

monster monpiece localization , holy sorcery story localization = will get it all

  • ekibyougami
    I’m summoning money on my Vita screen…. but nothing’s happening! ;A;
    Go NISA, XSEED, Natsume, or whoever….. someone… localize these gaems ;_;

  • PoweredByHentai
    • ^ THIS

    • Kai2591

      haha nice one geso!

  • MrRobbyM

*gasps and squeals at the same time*

  • xXDGFXx

NISAAAAA~!!! Come on! We need our loli and curry fix!

  • In times of worry, I put my trust into Ghostlight.

  • Elvick

NISA or Aksys please. They’d most likely release at retail. I don’t want a digital only release. I really want them both, but I can see MonMon not work out. ):

Stupid CP, why did they have to make it so extreme… or rather, stupid world. Who cares about some sexual themes in a highly stylized video game? Sheesh. If it were the same kind of mechanics, but we were slicing the girls to pieces it’d probably be released without any question. Violence is cool. Sex is bad.

  • Pls retai pls retail pls retail pls retail pls retail pls retail pls retail

  • Merrick

You can never have too many Action-RPG games, and Monster Monpiece has looked interesting. You can never have too many localized games, IMO.

NiSA should consider localizing this. After losing the Atelier series to TK, they are down one moe rpg series. Holy Sorcery Story kind of reminds me of Atelier Rorona in a way, so It may peak the interest of Atelier fans.

As for Monpiece…OMG THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

  • AdachiTohru

    COmpile Hearts <3

  • puchinri

Oh la la, here’s to hoping that someone snatches up HSS~.
Even though I could care less for MonMon, I think it probably has some chance of making its way over, somehow.

  • RoxasTheUnknown1

NISA should at least snag HSS. If they picked up Mon Mon as well that’d be awesome and make me feel better about the three Vita Nep games. Way i see it Aksys will pick up Mon Mon. They cop anything C.H NISA doesn’t. It’s always been like that.

  • Solomon_Kano

Monpiece I couldn’t care less about, but I would be right there for HSS.

Also: the music in that video was fantastic.

  • Lester Paredes

But I’m great at rubbing monsters! Someone! Bring them both over! NOW!

  • chibiwall

yes yes yes, please yes… this game remind me recettear :3

  • Wow tht music. Its good :D

  • Ladius

NISA? Aksys? Anyone? This game is good, it would be a damn shame to leave it in Japan. I want more roguelike goodness in our markets, and between this and Kamipara it looks like 2013 will deliver.

  • Kai2591

They said Neptunia would never be localized. It did. All three of them.
If a game like Monster Monpiece gets localized, then anything is possible.

  • SprintsMcGee

And I just payed off the preorder for this yesterday too. I have the worst luck. Oh well, if it does get localized, I’ll be sure to pick it up a second time too!

  • Sounds like a job for NISA or Aksys. I’d buy both.

  • Someone, please pick up both of these titles! Especially Monster Monpiece, that one looks like it will need a bit more convincing to potential publishers.

  • Guest

Ugh, I’d rather this insult to the Madou Monogatari series stayed in Japan. Oh, and get SEGA to sue Compile Heart for shamelessly ripping off the main Madou Monogatari/Puyo Puyo characters.
