Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation Coming To Taiwan, Thanks To SCE Asia

By Spencer . March 24, 2013 . 4:30pm

Namco Bandai announced Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation, the free to play Gundam game for PlayStation 3, will be localized in another language. The bad news is it’s not English. Namco Bandai Games Taiwan said a Chinese version is in the works and it’s scheduled to come out on March 28.

The Chinese version was made in partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment Asia. This division localizes games like Final Fantasy XIII, Tomb Raider, and the Asia-only PSP RPG Rezelcross into Chinese. Occasionally, SCE Asia handles English localizations too like Aquanaut’s Holiday and Demon’s Souls which helped the game gain popularity in the West before Atlus picked it up.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation will be available in the Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan PlayStation Stores.

I enjoyed the demo, it’s pretty fun

Been playing almost daily since September (downloaded it when it released in June, but didn’t really start then…). It’s not the fastest Gundam game, and at the beginning you tend to be severely underpowered, but it’s really enjoyable after you get used to the controls. Well, at least if you are a Gundam fan. It plays a lot like the Star Wars Battlefront games, really. Even more so since the last update, where you can now take command points by just standing near them. There’s a ton of mobile suits and bonuses, and the special event ones are a nice selection of random suits. The latest one was the RX-78XX Gundam Pixie, last seen (outside of SRW/G Gen) in the SFC game Cross Dimension 0079. Sadly, since I’ve been playing on my US account, I didn’t get any parts of the Pixie during it’s campaign period… but at least I can be happy with my Efreet Custom and Blue Destiny 3…

It’s not like it’s take too much to translate it to English… as a downloadable title, they wouldn’t even have to translate the navigator’s voice. And the micro-transactions, if you want to do them, could potentially do very well for the game… Although, I gotta say, I’ve also been enjoying the Gundam Breaker beta, and if it came down to a choice between the two, I’d rather wait and see Breaker, since it’s got a single player mode too… currently running a “Black-Ku,” solid glossy/weathered black Sinanju head and body, Zaku II arms, and Zeta legs with Gundam’s backpack and a Sinanju shield… can’t wait to get some Masurao parts (totally gonna paint it Susanowo though…)

How are you playing the Gundam Breaker beta? Is it a download title in the first place?

Its the same as downloading a demo off the Japanese PSN. Should be one of the first things there.

I’m a huge gundam game fan and I did not really like this one. The micro transactions ruins it for me. It does not run well either. I’d rather pay 60 dollars for a full game.

I just tried it out and it runs perfectly fine for me, pretty fun too. Would kill for an english version, but this might be my tool for practicing my japanese this semester
