Ragnarok Odyssey Ace Will Have Daily Quests And Other Tweaks

imageGungHo Online Entertainment and Game Arts are working on a "G" version of Ragnarok Odyssey for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3. Ragnarok Odyssey Ace lets players develop their weapons by clearing quests and you can choose how you weapons grow. When you’re hunting solo you can get a mercenary helper that’s somewhat customizable. You can choose your helper’s gender.

 

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace has new enemies like the Niohoggr, new skills, and Yggdrasil Tower which creates a dungeon for you to explore. Yggdrasil Tower has a multiplayer mode and a break floor after every five floors. GungHo Online Entertainment will also release daily quests to give players something to do everyday.

 

The game has been fine tuned too like adding traps for hunters, powering up healing magic for clerics and speeding up spells for mages.

 

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace is scheduled to come out on July 11.

      I totally agree here. See if I hadn’t bought the game day one on release I would have bought this…..I haven’t even played it yet. While this version sounds better….I just cant validate buying a game again that could have had tweaks done to it via a patch or as DLC for the tower and stuff.
      Is it a new trend now to tweak a game and resell it ? and why?
      Yeah people like the original games but why cant they just add this stuff as DLC or in patches do they really have to milk people again? This is such a frustrating concept to me.

      It might be like in the case of UMvC3. The update was so big they had to re-release it again. But I’m not even sure if Ace is even a big update to justify a re-release.

    This sounds appealing and all, but why couldn’t they put this effort into the original. This “ace” version would make for a nice dlc

      I guess they were seeing first as how the game would do after release before they start churning out sequels.

    i mean why not just make this an update?
    considering pso2 it certainly is possible…seeing this makes me think
    they left out parts from the original to purposely create an entirely
    new and better game just to get the people who played the original to
    buy it…the Yggdrasil Tower sounds like it could be a great aspect of
    this game though I can’t see myself coughing up another $40 for it..it
    better be free to first RO users or at least no more than ten bucks..if not then
    no dice

      There are things that are always purposefully left out of games.

      Mainly because if they try to jam everything in the first go, they tend to overextend their development cycle. They eventually need a product to provide the publisher to make a profit.

      We’ve had Director’s Cuts (Deadly Premonition, SMT: Nocturne, Devil May Cry 3, Borderlands, Final Fantasy X/X-2, Kingdom Hearts, etc) in the past, this feels no different from that.

    Does anyone know if this also isn’t a patch? I mean obviously they’re selling it (meaning the patch is on the cartridge,) but does that mean there will be NO patch for those with the original game?

      Killing 100 giants isn’t a problem. Just a lot of hit and run solo and if you’re playing in a group… Split up. Divine and Conquer, it goes pretty fast. Or if you’re too insecure about your abilities, gang up. Those giants don’t stand a chance.

      Yes, because a game that’s been released last year, is quite solid with little to no bugs, good fun long lasting action with multiplayer random or organized hunting parties with or without the Vita’s Party App on the background to enable voice chat for an extended lifespan and a still incomplete list of all the cards from the many players who’ve been playing it (trust me the Japanese Wiki isn’t helping on that front either it seems), is obviously a beta game and not just a first game from which to form the foundation of a sequel (edit: Or an upgraded director’s cut version *looks at long laundry list of games that fits that category*).

      Obviously Final Fantasy is a beta to Final Fantasy 2 which is a beta to Final Fantasy 3 which is a beta to Final Fantasy 4 which is a beta to Final Fantasy 5 which is a beta to Final Fantasy 6 which is a rip-off of Halo!

        Gotta love beta testers.. if it weren’t for them the industry would crawl in terms of general development.

    This games favors Sins too much. i like them but its like why bother play with others classes if they get the job done much faster. imo they are broken.

      I started with a Sins and enjoyed it vastly. Very high stamina, doesn’t take a blow very well, good speed and DPS.

      But the other classes are good fun too.

      Hammersmiths can deal incredible amounts of damages, they’re highly specialized and against certain bosses, they actually dish out enormous amounts of damage that the Assassin can’t compare to.

      People who play Clerics well maintain’s the party’s health by intelligent positioning and can dish out incredible damage as well with either the quick club strike or the large AOE holy symbol thingy attack.

      Hunters are underrated but hot damn, either make sure to have it set up for crowd control which is very useful or set it up for Ailments. A big focus on Freezing attacks can stun a boss repeatedly to the point where they provide no danger anymore. (Was lovely hunting down the Shaman with someone who had a maxed out Freeze Hunter setup. Poor Shaman couldn’t even begin to try and punch any of us, or summon anyone for that matter).

      And Mages fall in a similar category as Hunters.

      … Really it’s the Swordsman that suffers the most. They’re just kinda there.

      Edit: My bad.. There is one thing the Swordsman excels over the others. DS mode.

    New Skills… I’m not sure what they mean by New Skills…

    Also, I think this is one of those cases of “They can’t really just patch up the old game”.

    From what I understand:
    - Mercenary A.I. companion
    - New Bosses (possibly new terrain to match)
    - Possible Cross-play compatibility with PS3 version stated here alongside PSV.
    - New Dungeon with it’s own internal system (5 floor breaks/camping)
    - Daily Quest meaning outside input independent from the game directly to the servers (or something of the sort)
    - New Skills (?)
    - New Gameplay Mechanic to the Hunter class.
    - Tweaked Cleric Healing ability (which honestly, healing around 600-700HP a pop is already pretty damn good. I don’t see what they could do other then nerf it since it’s already pretty damn useful.)

    I’m sorry but I don’t see all of this as some possible DLC or huge 1GB patch or something. It really sounds more like a natural progression to a new game, even if it is just an equivalent of a Director’s cut.

    I mean… When was the last time you had a patch or DLC that altered core elements of the game? If you can list some, it’s a damn rarity. Off the top of my head I can’t really provide any that could compare and additional episodes like, say, Borderland’s DLCs don’t really count. Yes Borderlands bumped up the level cap but… that’s not major. Yes one DLC has more vehicles but that’s self contained in it’s episode.

    I’ll get the ps3 version this time since it’s such a upgrade/expansion from the original. If they add cross-buy even better
