Introducing Zillions of Enemy X’s Daredevil Journalist And Scaredy Cat Scientist

By Sato . April 4, 2013 . 11:17pm

Zillions of Enemy X  takes place in the near-future post-apocalyptic Earth, where invaders known as ZX are pouring through the gates and ravaging the planet. The heroes consist of five playable characters, each with their unique personalities and backgrounds.

Here’s a look at two of the main protagonists:

Steve Shibaya

Steve is a 26 year-old researcher from the Republic of South Africa. He is young and promising elite researcher of the multinational corporation, KORT. Lately, he’s been questioning the way the company’s been prioritizing their profits.

003 004

He’s a character with an awfully coward-like personality and he tends to not have any confidence in his actions or decisions. He’s a scientist down to the bone, but he also has a very religious side.

Cecile Royale

Cecile is a 24 year-old novice journalist from France. She’ll go anywhere as long as there’s a scoop, even if it means putting her own life in danger. While looking for some sort of coverage on KORT, she seemed to have unintentionally discovered some sort of plot surrounding the company.

007 008

She’s a freewheeling character with a bold sense of tenacity.

Zillions of Enemy X is slated to be released on May 23rd for PlayStation 3.

This game. I’ve never hoped as hard for NISA to do anything as I am for them to localize this. It sounds so cool.

    >Huge fro
    >Tight ass red skin-tight suit
    >Ripped up labcoat
Can’t tell if I really love it, or really hate it

looking at the crotch area, does not look comfortable :(… wonder who designed the chars.. the Afro scientist and guy in suit look almost Shaman King-esque by Takei Hiroyuki, but not the other chars.. Looks like a nice game, probably not too patient playing card games though..

That suit is so tight, that man will never have children.

Looks interesting, nice to see more people of color portrayed in this style without them looking….racist.

  • I love the character design for this game, but alas apparently Japanese people still believe the “Afro” is the hairstyle that most Black people have. Well at least they didn’t give him huge lips this time like most do in other works. “Sigh”

I do hope this gets localized though.

    • The Japanese have always had a strange fascination with the ‘fro and will jump at any chance to include one in their games. Black characters are an easy go-to candidate since they can grow one naturally, but that certainly hasn’t kept them from giving ‘fros to Japanese characters in the past. In case you hadn’t noticed, Japanese character designs tend to be a bit out-there in general, and not necessarily faithful to real-life.

If you’re ever in Japan, don’t be surprised to run into the occasional chemically-produced ‘fro — especially in Shibuya where the young and trendy hang out.

      • That feel when you:

        – Spot afros in Shibuya
        – Meet a ganguro in Shibuya
        – Walk into Shibuya109 like a silly foreigner would.

The last part was the most awkward for someone who looks every bit Asian. They must have thought I was a pervert who knowingly went there :<

        • Try accidentally walking into Shibuya’s love hotel district (Hyakkendana) and being approached by a bunch of pimps and prostitutes. Whups.

          • Wooow whoops indeed.. Hahah!

I figured there’d be less people if you get closer to love hotels, so I stayed within the crowds – was it not the case?

Getting squished was not fun though, it’s crazy how many people are there :s

        • Lolz

      • Yeah, I understand what you mean, but it’s just funny how you see it so often lol

        @kudryavka:disqus @Axersia:disqus

Also, you and Kud are lucky to have such experiences, I need to get to Japan soon lol

  • Tom_Phoenix

Man, I hope that guy doesn’t have any trouble getting through doorways.

    • I think the oinly thing that would hold him back is the heavy weight of of his stereotypical character traits.

  • This line that gets to me the most:
“He’s a scientist down to the bone, but he also has a very religious side.”
Not sure how I feel about Steve as a character. It can be interesting, or it might annoy me.

To me, there’s a fine line between being a person who has conflicting emotions that will go through character development to be an interesting character… or one who just turns out to be overly forced and designed for the purpose of being ‘interesting’. I just can’t really enjoy things that make me feel like they’re forcing it.
