First Look At The Danganronpa Anime Series

By Spencer . April 8, 2013 . 7:02am

Spike Chunsoft’s word fighting game Danganronpa is following in the footsteps of Neptunia and Devil Survivor 2 with its own anime series. Danganronpa: The Campus of Hope and High School Students of Despair appears to follow the first game in the series, which was released for PSP in 2010 and then ported to smartphones last year.

Animation studio Lerche which helped with Persona 4: The Animation and Fate/Prototype is making the Danganronpa anime. Seiji Kishi who directed the Persona 4 anime and is working on the Persona 3 movie will handle adapting the Danganronpa anime which is scheduled to air this summer in Japan.

The one I assume is the main character anime design seems like was designed by the anime character design of [C], similar. Anyway looks good. Wonder if Crunchyroll will pick it up when the summer or so animu conventions come up.

i’m hoping they’ll stream it too, seeing as they’re the only legal anime streaming site that actually streams to where i live.

Although Danganronpa 2 have an upgrade system than the first game, I still prefer the main cast for the first game then the second game. The main character in the second game looks bland lol

      indeed

Personally, I found the cast in the second game more exciting by the ending of the /prologue/. I love both casts, though, and it’s all in opinion, so I obviously can’t tell you which one is better.

Edit: Ah, wait, main character? Hinata’s bland, yeah, but so was Naegi. Hinata has a little more flavor in him, though, in that he’s not such a complete doormat. Although Neegi’s my favorite character from the first game, amusingly enough . . .

Hinata looks “bland” for a reason, there’s a reason for that and the game makes good use for it. The cast of the second game is in no way inferior than the first one if not superior due to the “secondary male character” being so much awesome and far more relevant than the one from the first game.

Read the synopsis for the anime, and just started wondering – Why must we be teased with awesome-looking VNs but hardly get them? :(

Having seen what the animation studio and what the director have done with the aforementioned series; I have just one thing to say: ARE YOU READY, GUYS?! *in Date Masamune’s voice*

I believe the biggest issue w/h DR is it trial gameplay and its Japanese references.

That’s a shame. Still looking forward to the anime, though.

Really doesn’t seem like something that would be as interesting as an anime. I’ll try it out I guess, but I’m probably just gonna be thinking the game is alot more enjoyable the whole time.

Oh, goody, time for me to cry all over again.

Seiji Kishi > First thing I think of is Carnival Phantasm.
Inappropriate but still found it amusing.
