Nintendo Made A Dungeon RPG That’s Only For Club Nintendo Members

By Spencer . April 8, 2013 . 4:08am

nintendo-02Nintendoji is an interesting game because it’s so limited. You can only get this downloadable 3DS/DSiWare game if you’re a platinum or gold level Club Nintendo member. Nintendo of Japan will send members who have this status a code which they can redeem to claim for this game.

Players move through dungeon floors and use a card game-like battle system. The dungeon has sacred treasures to collect and when you return to your home base you can place an offering to improve your stats or gain new abilities.

Sounds somewhat appealing, aside from the battle system being based on a childrens’ card game.

On the bright side, we ain’t losing any souls over this.

  • benhofb

Oooh. I hope NoA does something like this (or brings this over). I just reached platinum myself, so…

  • Sylverstone14

    Ah, Nintendoji.

Funny enough, I think this is in the same universe as Sakura Samurai since Kappa is apparently in this game as well.

    Here’s a video where Kappa is in Nintendoji – ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=dIf95NDYVPY#t=117s ), and here’s Kappa again in Sakura Samurai ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=OGP09Rsxfjg ).

      Actually, I recognized the merchant.

Seems interesting, but I’ll never get a chance to try it…

  • Brimfyre

Man this is the type of thing that would have made me flip my ship if I read this in Nintendo Power as a kid.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Would be nice to get state side, Rewards we get are…..meh

    • herolove

You should be glad to at lest get anything. Hear in Europe they have quite good stuff I believe, but because I’m from Scandinavia and Bergsala mange all Nintendo releases I get nothing if I buy hard copy games and don’t import from the UK. Add the fact that they sometimes don’t release games that is out in the rest of Europe I’m getting more and more angry with them.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

        sorry to hear that :/

We should file complaints to Nintendo and tell them that we won’t stand for it. ):

Bottom right pic: Hey, is that one of the store owners from Sakura Samurai?

Wonder if Nintendo will make it this year’s reward for the US Club Nintendo.

    • Sylverstone14

I posted a comment about that actually, though it was about Kappa.

Now that I see the merchant, this game is definitely in the Sakura Samurai universe.

  • Draparde

I really hope this gets brought over here. seems like a good reason to use the nintendo club thing.

i suppose me being Gold (260 coins from plat) may help in me wanting it as well lol

  • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

I would really love this kind of reward from Nintendo. As this kind of thing is going to motivate Nintendo platform owners to keep spamming their muney to get this kind of game on the end of year.^_^

  • https://twitter.com/Ni_Go_Zero_Ichi Project 2501

What a strange and interesting idea. It’s certainly an incentive to make sure I reach Gold this year. Who developed this, specifically?

  • Learii

wait when nintendo start this god members club thing? i never heard about that

    • brian

Seems to have started in 2003, according to wikipedia.

  • Space_Ghost

Jealous! I’ve reached Platinum every year I have been a member of the club, not that it’s a huge deal to me. I’d want this game though!

  • http://www.facebook.com/magius.necros Magius Necros

Times like these make me wish NoA’s Nintendo Reward system was even half as good as Japan’s.

    • Stevostin

Can’t be worse than the europe’s reward system, at least you can have games…
Unless you want a Princess Peach notebook.

      • Jibun Rest@rt

        …I really want a Princess Peach notebook….

  • LonelyGuardian

Japanese Nintendo Club account. this is nice for them. This game seems interesting, the Fire Emblem: Awakening OST, and many more perks that fans would like never appear in NOA’s club. The best that’s been on NOA was what? the Zelda poster set and gold nunchuk maybe. Oh well…

  • Guest

Probably it happens in sakura samurai universe.

  • LittleMofreaky

    I spy reused assets

  • puchinri

That’s intriguing, and sounds fun. I hope the other Club Nintendo regions also get this~.

  • http://twitter.com/Nates4Christ Nate

You can be guarantied that this game will come to everyone else eventually. That is if they like money, which they do. If this really is a club exclusive then you know it is a bad game. They would not invest a lot of time and money in a game with such a limited market.

    • AJ

It sounds pretty steeped in Japanese culture (“The dungeon has sacred treasures to collect and when you return to your home base you can place an offering to improve your stats or gain new abilities.”), so……it probably won’t leave Japan.

NB: It’s not a bad thing to celebrate your own culture, and it’s not a bad thing to share that culture. But cultural exchanges and capitalistic pursuits seldom, if ever, merge. Blah, blah, blah, brotherhood of man…..

  • almostautumn

Hell yeah! This is the type of stuff that would make slide back toward the 3DS. Keep up stuff like this, and smash that region lock, and I’m all in, Ninty!

Nintendouji was one of the prizes for Gold and Platinum rank members of last year.
We actually got the code immediately after choosing the prize, but it was only made redeemable on the 3rd of this month.
It’s actually really fun, I would be surprised if the don’t localize it for US and EU Club Nintendo.
