Neptunia Idol Game’s Story Is About The CPUs Vs. Idol Group MOB48

By Spencer . April 9, 2013 . 12:02pm

imageCompile Heart and Dream C Club developer Tamsoft are making a Hyperdimension Neptunia idol game. What’s the story behind this? Dengeki PlayStation explains Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia PP takes place in Gamindustri, but in a parallel world from Neptunia Victory.

All of the sudden an idol game appears and MOB48 (a joke referencing the actual idol group AKB48) is taking share away from the CPUs. You have to get it back by earning stage points during live performances. Each show the number of fans and haters will change depending on the show. You can choose costumes for the idols and change the camera angle. During live events, the CPUs can transform which also transforms their singing voice.

Hyperdimension Idol Neptunia PP is slated for release on June 20 in Japan.

Now how many goats must I sacrifice for this game to be localized?

    • DesmaX

      All of them

    • Cazar

Not to be mister negative, but I’m afraid if it does it will be digital only. For an idol game I highly doubt they will dub the songs into English – and you know how that goes.

On another note the ability to earn haters sounds amusing.

      • Manny Being Manny

Being digital only is fine, I wouldn’t want to play an idol game in a dub anyway.

        • Yup, that wouldn’t be good anyway. For the dubs, I mean. :3 That’d be a bit… strange, too.

So~ I guess the game is going to have some new characters in store for us. Can’t wait to see them all. *-*

          • RoxasTheUnknown1

I would like it dubbed. Dual audio anyways so who knows.

        • 324234

I’d love to see this localized and will buy it day 1…unless it’s digital only. Then I’ll consider importing it instead. Digital only is a joke.

          • Hikaru Lighthalzen

yeah , like atelier totori , its a total mess that i still mad of , cause its digital only , i cant buy it in asian psn.

        • The English VA for Neptune has quite the pipes that might be enough to carry a tune. Not sure about the others…

          • Johnny Ray

Chritina Vee can sing I know.

        • M’iau M’iaut

Back in the day, Pioneer took dubbing songs seriously. They had LA based recording session musicians (i.e. damn good, but largely unknown talent) do the music for Tenchi and I believe El Hazard. Even going so far as to have these folks perform a concert with Chisa Yokoyama.

Just having the VAs sing songs would not work — but taking a approach like above just might.

        • Hikaru Lighthalzen

fine if they released it in region other than japan

        • NEKO WORKING

dub suck.. i like the original voice :D

        • NEKO WORKING

dub suck.. i like the original voice :D

      • Who the heck would want those songs dubbed into English?

        • Cazar

That isn’t the point. The point is that without an English dub the game won’t sell at retail. And I doubt NISA will half dub it where the dialogue voices and singing voices don’t match.

          • FetusZero

Wouldn’t be the first game to be sold retail without a dub, this could be like.. the third one out there lol. I don’t know the exact count, but I know it wouldn’t be the first.
And if NISA did a “half-dub” for the first chapter of Mugen Souls, I don’t see why they wouldn’t do it for Neptunia.

          • Cazar

I hadn’t played Mugen Souls so I wasn’t aware of that. I had assumed NISA sought a higher consistency with the quality of their localizations. Who knows then it might be possible.

          • FetusZero

Can’t blame you, it seems like Mugen Souls didn’t get that much attention and I can understand why (even though I really enjoyed it).

It’s only the first part of Chapter 1 where they sing though, but thank god they kept the original for it, if there’s one thing I really don’t like in dubbed anime/games is when they dub the songs.. it just hurts my ears when they do lol. I can’t imagine if Sentai had dubbed the songs in Angel Beats! x_x

          • M’iau M’iaut

Can we please stop perpetuating this old myth. The story has been anecdotal back to days of PS1 games. And has been noted, there are plenty enough exceptions to the ‘rule’ on every Sony platform.

    • Flandre Scarlet

All of them, since it’s never going to come over.

  • RoxasTheUnknown1

LOL! xD Another parallel world huh? Sounds fun and silly like it should be. Guess they’re playing that card so that people treat it like a spin-off in case it doesn’t make it’s way overseas. NISA come on!

    • Landale

Given that every game so far has taken place in an alternate world from the previous one, I don’t think they’re doing that to let people treat it like a spin-off.

      • RoxasTheUnknown1

V is a direct sequel to mk2. They are interested in a solid continuation which they don’t tied in with the “experiments”.

        • Landale

It is a direct sequel that largely takes place in an alternate world from mk2. The existence of countless other alternates is brought up in at least one ending as well. Alternate realities do not necessarily indicate a spinoff with this series.

          • RoxasTheUnknown1

Depends how you look at it. The first game and most likely this do/won’t have anything to do with mk2/V’s main narrative which yes uses alternates but is tied together which this is not, meaning spinoff/side game. I mean imagine the reaction C.H would get if they came and straight up said this is the sequel to V. It just wouldn’t work. Playing the alternate reality card is just code for them trying something new without stepping on toes.

  • Zarx

The more news we get from this game, the more I just want it released so I can import it already.

  • They better localize that! I mean, really!

    I love the concept already. So please. Please? ;_;

  • Roxy

Bring this game over NISA. Screw the other two games.

  • alixraen

I have burned my wallet in sacrifice. May this game make it overseas.

    • xXDGFXx

But… that was my lunch money…

      • alixraen

        Whoops, it seemed I had left my wallet in my other pants. Gomen ^^;

  • ShimaPantsu

Coming Soon: Crisis on Infinite Gamindustris

    • RoxasTheUnknown1

LOL I wouldn’t doubt it at this rate. Especially if Noire’s game and Re;Birth are alternate worlds. xD

      • I thought that Re;Birth was a possibly enhanced re(Re;)make of the first game.

        • RoxasTheUnknown1

It could be. I want it to be lol. But it is possible it’s it’s own thing as well too.

          • I’d like it either way.

  • I’ll be getting the Ebten shop edition thanks to a friend

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    All-righty then

  • revenent hell

I always have a good amount of criticism for this series, but ya’ know…I really like the idea of this game. Although I’m not real sure about the probability of it being localized…..I’d buy it

  • Manny Being Manny

I really really hope we get this over here. Please, NISA.

  • Mavalex

    All of the parallel Gamindustris.

    I still say this:

  • Melly Jelly

The mention of haters and transforming idols has my interest.

  • Juuu

I think I’m going to cry–this sounds fantastic and hilarious. Could we get some AKB outfit DLC?! They have REALLY cute costumes, tbh.

  • This game needs to be released around the world! >_<

  • I can only imagine the music they’re going to have the CPUs sing and dance to…

  • ShadowDivz

Im honestly curious as to how this is gonna work. I would like to see gameplay or something. But it definitely has my interest.
    Also, lol at having haters.

  • Dietrich

My wallet bleeds profusely at my purchasing of this game

    • My heart bleeds peanut butter for the Vita.

  • Just Tim
