Meet Two Of Tokyo’s Survivors In Shin Megami Tensei IV

With all the commotion surrounding Mikado of the East, little is known about the state of Tokyo in Shin Megami Tensei IV. Atlus introduced three characters we’ll meet in Tokyo’s ruins.

Tokyo is sprawling with dangerous demons. The condition of the people currently residing in what was once a bustling city is unknown. Are these people friends or foes?

Tokyo is shrouded in darkness and dominated by demons. In such a place, there’s one girl who senses something foreign about the heroes of Shin Megami Tensei IV. It is unknown as to what triggered her interest in the Samurai group, but the fact that she seemed to have sensed something sets her apart from the rest of Tokyo’s people.

Tsugihagi and Fujiwara

In Tokyo, you’ll meet characters such as this man who appears to have a patched up face (Tsugihagi means ‘patchwork’ in Japanese) and a distinctive man wearing sunglasses. It seems as though these two characters have some sort of connection between each other. Their origins are unknown.

“… I might be thinking too much. It’s nothing, forget about it.”

“Not all the people living in Tokyo are content about the current condition.”

Shin Megami Tensei IV is slated to be released for 3DS in Japan on May 23 and this summer in North America.

I love how close the release dates are.

  • For a in darkness shrouded super dangerous demon infested Tokyo she lives in, that girl looks suspiciously happy…

    • Raze

Because she’s the one who shines everything…
      Hikaru that is….

    • ToshiChan

on the other hand patchface is probably scary looknig but a really nice guy

  • Ninten

    Cool, Masakado’s sword.

  • Matenshi

“Are these people friends or foes?”

    Both. It’s Shin Megami Tensei.

  • Tom_Phoenix

Considering Tsugihagi carries Masakado’s sword in his hand, it is possible that they are reincarnations of Masakado and his (ocassional) ally Fujiwara.

If that is the case, there is a possibility that they will be involved in a long optional questline, the reward for which is the best Neutral weapon and armour set in the game. =P

    • Ninten

      Yeah, that’s quite possible!

    • Mr_SP

Maybe so… But at the same time, having a stitched-on face is quite strange for Masakado. Though it would be strange for anything Shin Megami Tensei does to be straightforward – he might as well be a Frankenstein’s monster using Masakado pieces.

  • imaguni

Hey, Keiji Fujiwara is a character in the game!

    • kmantle

And Masahiro Sakurai appears in Soul Hackers

  • Barrylocke89

Hikaru looks like she’s about to go on a fun shopping trip with her girlfriends after class…in the middle of a demonic apocalypse. We should probably keep an eye out on her.

  • PersonaSpace

All I see is people who are going to eventually go crazy and want me dead.

  • Perhaps Hikaru is actually a demon, or maybe a ghost.

  • ragingmerifes

Hikaru is uber-cute. I wish this game had Law, Neutral, Chaos and Kawaii Routes.

    • MrTyrant

      Kawaii route for kawaii girls.

“F**** law, chaos, neutral. Lucifer and his rebellion. Im going to create a world full of girls” count me in.

  • puchinri

    The new Mannekin. . .
So we have The Black Samurai and Tsugihagi. Is this their throwback title?

Hikaru looks cool/cute and interesting, too. I wonder what role she’ll take in the story.

  • Melly Jelly

  • I’m curious why is Hikaru wearing a school uniform of all things in a middle of a abandoned Tokyo….

    • puchinri

It’s a good question. But, we don’t really know what’s going on in Tokyo, or her uniform could be symbolic.

Of course, as Style Savvy has taught me, she could just be a fan of the academic/preppy style.
