Witch & Hero Vs. The 8-Bit Medusa

By Spencer . April 10, 2013 . 1:48am

Circle Entertainment has a retro action game where you help a hero and witch stop Medusa called Witch & Hero. Sounds like a good team, but the Medusa turned the Witch to stone, which leaves the hero by himself. The hero can collect blood from monsters to temporarily restore the Witch and use her magical powers.

Witch & Knight has 20 stages with two difficulty levels plus an infinite mode. The game is slated for release in Japan on April 17 as an eShop download for the Nintendo 3DS. North America will be able to get it on April 18.

Did we mention Witch & Knight is from Circle Entertainment? They’re a small developer that has been focusing on the DSiWare and 3DSWare games.

I’m not getting it. Nintendo Life gave this game a 2/10.

Why? The fact that they gave it a 2/10 alone shows their opinion shouldn’t be trusted. They pointed out no technical flaws in their review, they only seemed to dislike the gameplay and the amount of grinding; and someone in the comments suggested it was a 4-5 hour game, that isn’t an excessive amount of grinding by any stretch of the imagination.

      • Mr_SP

Excessive? I’d hesitate to call 4-5 hours much in the way of grinding at all. If it’s only a 4-5 hour game, then there’s practically no grinding at all.

        • Alberto Maytorena

          That’s barely even a game.

      • Shariest

Nintendo guys should try Disgaea’s before talking about grinding :D

Relying solely on a review to decide your purchases is foolish. There are many great games out there I’ve played that have gotten “low review scores”. Just keep in mind, not all games appeal to everyone. I’ve seen many people review RPG’s in general with a low rating just because it isn’t something the reviewer themself enjoys.

      • Kyle Silva

I wasn’t too interested in this game, and I only saw one review. If one person says they really hate it, I’m not going to take any gambles on whether or not I should spend money on this.

Read IGN first then decide what to buy. Inb4 only Call of Duty and mainstream games.

Looks like Half Minute Hero, apparently plays like Ys I & II. Might be cool, but I see the price point being an issue for some.

“HELP” – Witch: no reaction – Knight: listens
“MEDUSA = BAD” – Witch: no reaction – Knight: listens
“MONEY” – Witch: “OK!” – Knight: “Ah, women…”

A story about love, vengeance and realistic action women. Seems worth getting.
