By Sato . April 16, 2013 . 3:41pm

The latest issue of Famitsu reveals that Apollo will be reappearing to fight in the court in Ace Attorney 5. The magazine also confirms a July 25th release date.

A new character, known as Yugami Jin is a prosecutor who is actually serving a sentence for murder, but he’s been nominated to stand as prosecutor in court. (Whether or not he actually committed murder is, of course, a mystery.)

Ace Attorney 5 will have pre-order bonuses of costume DLC for three of it. main characters. These costumes will be made available for free upon the game’s release until August 15th. Here’s what the costume bonuses are:

  • Phoenix’s older suit from previous Ace Attorney games
  • A casual outfit for Apollo designed by artist Kazuya Nuri
  • A younger look with a schoolgirl outfit for Konkone

Ace Attorney 5 will be released in Japan on July 25th for Nintendo 3DS.

Update: Kanji reading for the new prosecutor updated.

  • Edgeworth went throught that experience.

Tho he wasnt his own prosecutor he had someone close to him as prosecutor and if i remember right he didn’t help his case much either haha, poor phoenix

    • Mavalex

Edgeworth prolly having flashbacks after seeing this news

    • Aoshi00

I like how Phoenix and Edgeworth have always saved each other, true friends, and Larry always gets into hot water with some dame :)

Hope they would have a really cool prosecutor this time, Edgeworth, Franciska, and Godot were all great, I thought Klavier felt a bit short.. The female Judge in Investigations 2 was great too. So the free DLC costumes would last about a half month huh. Can’t wait to play this!

      • haha, man i never got tired of phoenix’s cast xD cant wait to, hopefully, see them again now.

I gotta wait for localizationnn damnnnn T-T~!

    • Fairlee

      Exactly my thought.
And man, that Manfred. Objecting everything others do.

  • I don’t want to sound annoying or anything, but I feel like that title is a bit spoilery. Maybe this was in a press release, but I feel like a title along the lines of “New Ace Attorney 5 story details” would have been just as effective. That way the people who want to read details can open up the story, and the people like me who want to avoid as much story details as possible so I can experience it in game will know not to open the story.

Pre-order bonus costume DLC for Ace Attorney? Didn’t see that one coming.

    • Wait for the inevitable swimsuit DLC. On a more serious note, though, I totally hope they release extra DLC episodes for the game. That could be very neat if it was actually a substantial story expansion, maybe focusing on an alternate character or something.

      • SirRichard

DLC cases/episodes for the game would be amazing, honestly. And frankly, I would in fact pay some money to see Phoenix solve a case in swimming trunks.

        Make it so, Capcom!

        • I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Edgeworth to be made available in some sort of DLC episode if he isn’t in the main game.

          • Quadsdat

Edgeworth made a short cameo appearance at the very end of Layton vs Ace Attorney standing behind the table as he does in the Ace Attorney games. It would be such a waste to have the character models done but not use it!

      • Byas

Yeah, something like expanding the game through DLC would be awesome. Though I don’t really see the appeal of costumes DLC on an Ace Attorney game.

        • Yeah, costume DLC in a game like this is kind of odd. But hey, whatever works for them. If people want to spend money on costumes, they can go right ahead. They’re just giving Capcom more $$$ to continue the series and I don’t mind that in the least. :P

        • Simon

LoL I actually played each Ace Attorney including investigations 3 times each already. the DLC would definitely add something interesting everytime i replay, maybe some extra scenes because u have a certain costume on. most ace attorney game I love clicking on random things to read all the dialogues. like the run on gag abt ladder and step-ladder. i love reading everything!

      • Yes, and no. Yes, to the idea of expanding the story with DLC “side story” episodes. No, to the possible idea of making the other half of the game be Mandatory DLC. You may not have implied that last one, but we know how Capcom acts when it comes to DLC. I do NOT have to remind anyone how this stupid practice has terrible, but completely avoidable, consequences.

      • TheRealMalek

Wait for the inevitable Maya/Edgeworth DLC you mean ?

  • Zonic505

Wait, DLC costumes? That’s not something I’d expect for AA. Perhaps there’ll be other DLC in the future?

  • $29082171

    ”fight in the court”?

It doesn’t say if he’s still an attorney or a prosecutor now?

  • Lazulis

Hobo Feenie costume DLC in the future?

  • Um that’s…weird, very weird Capcom.

  • Ibi Salmon

Glad to see that prosecutors can still have privileges even when accused of murder. Only in the Ace Attorney series…

  • Nicholas Perry

Thanks for not abandoning Apollo! I loved him and AA4. It’s still my favorite in the series.

  • Tom_Phoenix

The legal system in the AA universe has always been very messed up. But to allow someone who is serving jailtime (and for MURDER of all things) to stand in court as prosecutor… THAT’s something else.

I hope there is a VERY good explanation as to why this guy in particular has to lead the prosecution.
