God Eater 2 Adds Aragami Blasting Shotgun

By Spencer . April 16, 2013 . 11:12pm

God Eater 2 lets players switch between a melee weapon like the Boost Hammer and a type of gun. Famitsu explained each gun barrel type has a different kind of attack.

The Shotgun has short range, but the gun is good for rush fire. Players who like to move and shoot might prefer this weapon.

God Eater 2 is slated for release on PlayStation Vita and PSP.

  • Yeah!

  • Saintdante

This game sounds so awesome hopefully it is localized.

  • natchu96

So guns can be used for close range barrages now too?

What’s the point of using melee other than OP recharge, really? Bullets in GEB outdamaged melee attacks by a wide margin, were pretty spammable, and had ridiculously safe range when aimed right. I pretty much snipe my target from a dozen meters away with mini-nukes all day.

    • Ferrick

i’m guessing that its to offer a balance, and honestly, this sounds like its favoring the melee attacks more (especially considering the charge spear and the boost hammer) for ge2, since back in geb people spammed the guns more

      • Vash bane

i didn’t use the gun other than rec bullets for my team

        • Ferrick

me neither, i preferred melee over guns

  • fyi1191

Don’t tell me they removed the bullet customization system for a fixed bullet on gun.
The bullet system is what made this game interesting.

    • psycho_bandaid

I agree with you but the bullet system of old was so exploitable. Hopefully they tweak it a little if they keep it in.

      • natchu96

Indeed. And with Sniper Ace from the DLC missions it gets worse. I now fire a bullet that hits the point of impact nearly half a dozen times for several hundred damage each, nine times in a row without running out of ammo and having to switch to melee. Plus it has short invincibility frames when firing, too, which actually makes it fire out of a sniper gun even faster.

The first part is just a weird non-laser version of the IOD bullet, but there’s a video of that last part of the design, called the knockback-stagger mechanism, on youtube somewhere. Works as essentially an addon for any bullet that takes less than 6 slots to program (taking up 7 and 8), and basically involves making a deco shot circle around your body to punch an orb directly into your torso to inflict knockback, since bullets don’t actually hurt you. You get invincibility frames from the knockback, your stamina regenerates during the recovery animation to abuse Trigger Happy, and the recovery animation from the impact is actually shorter than the firing animation of blasters and snipers, so you can spam more O_O’

The bullet system is kind of OP, and they technically already nerfed it >_>

      • Chiupon

i read that as “twerk it a little”

i for one am in favor of twerking on aragami to defeat them

        • Draparde

Dangit! lol after reading your comment i reread theres and accidently read it as “Twerk” too XD

    • yep

  • Hell Yeah.

  • O_O! I want the sword he’s holding. >_<

    • natchu96

That’s the default longblade you’re looking at.

  • Aristides

And now to sacrifice the chicken. Oh mighty Odin please hear my call!

  • The shotgun is my favourite type of firearm. I wonder what kinda of lulz I can create with the bullet customisation.

  • Before reading the comments I somehow assumed the article was talking about different damage multipliers for different guns, which is what we had in GEB anyway – some guns had much higher crush damage but lower pierce, for example.

    Now I’m just really confused…

  • Ni

This will be really welcome to my play style (I barely used guns because I don’t like to stop moving while playing GE). Now if only they add Dual Swords…I can dream right?

    • Vash bane

      no defense nelly time

  • neogeno

So is there any word on a specific release date?

    • Juan Manuel M. Su├írez

None. I know GEB did really well for a new IP, but after Namco said they wouldn’t localize both PSV “Tales of…” entries on account of poor selling numbers; I fear for the future of this game outside of Japan~.

      • Erwin MadJelly

I really am worried abt those who needs the game and have to ship it from japan, it’s gonna cost a bomb again, just like One piece pirate warriors 2 VITA, which costs fucking $80 here. Damn it.. God Eater 2 better gets english subs!!
