Respawn Entertainment’s Game Might Be Called "Titan"

By Spencer . April 16, 2013 . 1:45am

titanRespawn Entertainment, the studio formed by former Infinity Ward executives, is developing a new sci-fi shooter which Electronic Arts will publish. Details about the unnamed game are scarce aside from a few blurry screenshots.

The name of Respawn Entertainment’s game may have been revealed thanks to a trademark filing in the USPTO. Respawn Entertainment registered Titan for use with video game software. The studio is said to be attending E3 this year and perhaps they will unveil Titan at that time.

    …”Titan”? Really?

I have to wonder if the fact that the game has the same codename as Blizzard’s upcoming MMO a coincidence or if that was intentional.

I was wondering that myself. As I understood it though, Blizzard’s Titan was in development before Respawn’s deal was in place and was merely a codename. So I’m thinking coincidence. But surely somebody at Activision should’ve noticed that lol.

This screams that it’s trying to directly compete with Destiny from Bungie.

    • Solomon_Kano

I doubt that. Bungie doing another sci-fi shooter was expected, everybody knew whatever they did next would be in that ballpark. For Respawn though, after so many years of working on COD, West and Zampella probably just wanted to do something new in terms of setting/genre. They happened to pick sci-fi.

It would take more than a similar genre for this to be a conscious attenpt to directly compete with Bungie when a lot of Destiny is about this new experience Bungie’s trying to bring, even over its sci-fi trappings.

I saw “Titan” in the title and came here expecting a Shingeki No Kyojin game ._.
