Soul Sacrifice Turns A Royal Chef Into An Ogre And Drunken Dwarves Into A Monster

By Spencer . April 18, 2013 . 1:00am

A new update for Soul Sacrifice is available in Japan today, which adds two more monsters to the game. The Ogre was the head royal chef, but since this is Soul Sacrifice you know this can’t end well. His desire to please the king consumed him and the chef turned into the Ogre. Now a monster, the Ogre roams around looking for a forbidden ingredient and rends travelers with his carving knife.

There once was a band of three merry dwarves that loved to drink. They drank so much they were consumed by their love for alcohol which… fused their bodies and turned them into one monster called the Dwarf. The three bodies work together as one and wield a huge hammer.

Just like the other Soul Sacrifice update, these two monsters are available on PlayStation Network for free.

Downloading the NA demo right now :)

Speaking of hunting-like games, MonHun Online was just announced a while ago. :)

    • Syn

Whats your psn, am downloading the demo now as well

  • ToshiChan

wait so 3 dwarves combined into a giant dwarf?

wouldn’t that make the fusion beast normal height

    • natchu96

Assuming a dwarf is half human height, the combined height from that picture should be 3X dwarf height, or 1.5X human height. Slightly more than normal.

I hate small targets. So much harder to aim at from a distance.

    • Ferrick

i don’t think it works that way, did you see DBZ’s fusion ? =P

The fact that one of the dwarves is sporting a crutch makes me wonder if they’re not like… handicapped war veterans or something. That would make their drinking a bit more tragic than hilarious.

Played the demo. The game is awesome

Hmm… these stories aren’t as “heart string pulling” as some others, but there’s probably more to their story.

In any case, demo’s been downloaded, but only got to mess around with it for a few minutes. Definitely will put more time into it later this evening.

    The demo is incredible :D

It’s really pissing me off that Asia PS store doesn’t have the Soul Sacrifice Demo. Now I have to wait till May 1 (Apr 30 in the US) to collect my SS pre order.

    • ekibyougami

My sentiments exactly. I have the full game (japanese version), but I still want to play it on the R3 English version with my adhoc bros. I read the US/EU is updated to the Japanese retail version, so the nerfs and tweaks are applied unlike before in the JP demo.
And I need to confirm if the R3 english version will be cross region compatible with other regions. US-EU and even US-AU mutliplayer compatibility is confirmed.

Just got done with the demo last night glad i pre-ordered this game its pretty good.

The demo has made me replace Monster Hunter with Soul Sacrifice in my “Top 4 games” (I find it impossible to have one favourite). This puts it alongside games such as Dissidia Duodecim, Dark Souls and Zelda: Skyward Sword. This game is fucking epic.

  • artemisthemp

Was pretty sure I would like this game before Demo and after the Demo.
I am ready for Retail and hope I can get my friend into it

  • MagisterXII

Playing the demo and it is sweet, can’t wait for the full version. This Chef’s story seems interesting, not so much the Dwarf one. But I’m sure there’s more to their stories within our new book friend.

  • benhofb

Honestly, I went into the demo just expecting a MonHun like game with body mutilation, but instead I got this really emotional, dark, story driven tale. It is quite amazing, IMO. Definitely picking it up on the 30th.

Will these updates be available right away upon it’s European release?
