Earth Defense Force 2025’s Giant Bug Exterminators In Action

By Spencer . April 19, 2013 . 11:18am

Earth Defense Force 2025 has four types of soldiers to play as. You can be a standard soldier like the unit from Earth Defense Force 2017 or the Wing Diver which is like the Pale Wing from the Vita version.

Brand new units include the Air Raider which can request vehicle drops and the heavily armored Fencer. He’s the guy running around with a giant shield. We’re not sure how to protects him from lasers…

Earth Defense Force 2025 comes out on July 4 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. D3Publisher confirmed they will release the game in Europe and North America, but have not announced a release date.

As cool as it looks I still have a problem with the game. What’s up with the framerate?!

    • attackslug

have you played an EDF game before?

      • Juan Andrés Valencia

I have, 2017 and Insect Armageddon but even those ran at a stable framerate most of the time,

uh, 2017 definately does not run at a stable framerate. Mind, it doesn’t have to. the chaos just gets better because of it.

Yeah, but it’s a difference to have dips to 20-15 FPS every once in a while compared to an average 15 FPS framerate. In 2017 only one mission had god awful framerates (I think it was the third one).

            Only one mission?

You… must not have played around with a lot of explosives or with a lot of killings of huge swarms then…

Anyways, the framerate drops were usually the equivalent of slow mo awesome moments and were much needed respite from the frantic action most of the times I’ve played it with a friend. Though maybe that’s why… Did you play solo? Because I always played in coop.

          • Juan Andrés Valencia

I played on solo and in Normal so I missed a lot of the weapons. Still… I have to admit that even with the framerate issues the game was fairly playable, something I can’t say about The Last Remnant, Cross Edge, Cryostasis or… *gulp* Virtual Hydlide.

  • That shield will help immensely. At least, I won’t have to roll around to dodge ant spit (or whatever that orange stuff is supposed to be…).
Hope to see D3 Pub N.A. get on this. They may not pay attention to their Japanese counterpart much, but they seem to know they have at least a cult fanbase around the EDF games.

Simply because I Must… Not that I can. But that I Must do it…

    EDF! EDF! EDF!
