Road Rash Inspired Road Redemption Confirmed For Wii U

In case you missed the news, indie developer DarkSeas Games are working on a spiritual successor to ‘90s bike racer Road Rash. The game, titled Road Redemption, is being funded via Kickstarter and is in development for PC, MAC and Linux. This morning, DarkSeas also confirmed a Wii U version.

Road Redemption will have a variety of modes, including Combat Race, Police Escape, Assassin, Convoy Assault, Escape from Enemy Territory (racing across rooftops!) and Ambush. Multiplayer modes will include both free-for-all as well as team-based missions.

Road Redemption’s fighting system will involve counters and parries, with gunplay playing a minor role in combat as well. (DarkSeas point out that there will be no auto-aim while using a gun.) Additionally, forcing your opponent into traffic will play a major role in the game as well, similar to Road Rash.

You can learn more about Road Redemption on its Kickstarter page. DarkSeas say that, a few months after they release the game, they will also make their source code and Unity engine project files available to the public.
