Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R For Vita Doesn’t Have Online Play

By Spencer . April 24, 2013 . 2:30pm

ggxa Just a heads up here that the PlayStation Vita version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R does not have online play. The Vita version supports ad-hoc multiplayer, but not infrastructure mode.

The Japanese release which came out in March does not have online play either and was never advertised to have this feature. The source of confusion comes from a now pulled trailer for the US release listed online play as a feature in Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R. Sorry, if you want to play Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus online you have to do it on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

  • LOL WHAT!?

  • Blesmi

Meanwhile we’re still waiting for the R patch to hit ps3…

    • Zanetsu

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting for GGXXAC+ to be released on PSN in EU.

      • Richard N

Meanwhile we’re still waiting FOR GUILTY GEAR X3 IN GENERAL!!

  • Draculoid

I don’t follow this series at all but this seems a bit ridiculous. Isn’t online play in fighting games a staple these days?

  • ReidHershel

…….If there isn’t online, why don’t you just download the PSP version then?

    • PinkKat

Your joking right? This is a remake of a ps2 game. Any multiplayer considering thats a godsend.

      • Crevox

He’s saying that because there is a PSP version of this game, WITH multiplayer. Granted, it’s not the R version……

        • PinkKat

Well yeah…Im pretty sure you would be waiting for a lobby for ages at this point, plus psp wifi is shoddy, plus like you said, not R version lol

          • ReidHershel

R Version has just balancing and actually the framerate is worse in that version. Point being, there really isn’t going to be that much of a difference.

          • PinkKat

Balancing is critical….but psp is nearly extinct outside of JP ><. Just my two cents.

In end I suppose its version preference, like I will stick with the first game.

    • Peter Kadden

The most important reason is that any remotely interested or serious player wants the newest version of the game, and right now this is literally the only way to play it in the US as far as I am aware..

    • Magus KilIer

The psp version also has widescreen, what else could you ask for?

  • PinkKat

I dont really mind…but they should of been careful with that trailer. Duking it out against a friend for bets is much funner then some online person who might lag entire fight anywho

  • Solomon_Kano

Maybe I’ll get this down the line, but it’s not a priority anymore. PS3 version, here I come.

  • almostautumn

…what is the point of a contemporary fighter without online play?

  • Curan_Altea

Not going to lie, that actually just lost the sale for me. I was going to get this to play online with my friends who have Vitas but not PS3s, but I guess I’ll stick to the PS3 version for now.

    • passthegrenadeplease

Same, I was looking forward upon the games release (didn’t Blazblue for the Vita had online functionality right from the get-go?) and this happen, way to drop the ball and give the people that have Vita’s the short end of the stick Aksys.>.>

      • Curan_Altea

Yeah. BlazBlue CSE for Vita has online. I’ll just play that if I want my handheld fighting game fix.

      • Solomon_Kano

        Not Aksys, Arc System Works.

    • PRGamerCub

i just bought the ps3 version lol i was gonna get this and saw it didnt have online play i was like …. ok i want online play so i guess ill get the ps3 game

  • Crevox

Honestly didn’t even think or expect it to have online, but okay. I can see the confusion if the trailer really did state that.

  • Andrew Norris

I don’t see why this is a problem for people at all. Fighting games over wireless is pretty much unplayable, even on consoles.

  • Peter Kadden

I pointed this out on Arc’s twitter because it pissed me off and seemed like false advertising. Of course they didn’t respond.

  • Neppygear

    wow what why
Global online modes in fighters are basically a tradition by now. BlazBlue on Vita had it, why not Guilty Gear? Silly, silly, Arcsys…

  • pimpalicious

Really should only be $10 then since a pretty big part of the game is gimped.

  • neo_firenze

I view the portable versions more as practice mode anyway. If I’m playing multiplayer, I’m playing on the console version with a stick. I get why people would want the feature, but it is really quite irrelevant to me.

The more annoying part to me is the typical Arc practice of releasing yet another extremely incremental upgrade over AC+.

  • Sardorim

I hope they aren’t surprised if this doesn’t sell all that well at all due to that.

  • $29082171

Man, even SSFIV3D had online multiplayer, and that’s a 3DS game.

  • Zenthos

A portable fighting game that doesn’t have online in this day and age? “Plus R”? More like “Minus R”.

  • Ceci “Ruzuzu” Kiyomizu

Sadly I payed for it yesterday and found out it didn’t have it.
You could not believe how upset I was

    • Armane

Have you tried getting a refund? False advertising is a pretty legitimate reason for wanting a refund.

      • Ceci “Ruzuzu” Kiyomizu

I tried I couldn’t get one back even though I told Sony about it.
They have a tight “No Refund” thing even though i’ve seen them give them out in the past.

        • Armane

I don’t know if it’s worth all the hassle, but try reporting them to the Better Business Bureau.

  • raymk

Well I wasn’t gonna get it anyway. I don’t even have this on ps3 yet so I better get on that. I guess this game being on vita they figured they’d only sell about 100 copies in the U.S if even that.

  • Luis Edgar Flores Gutierrez

Only Americans care about MP games, anyways.

    • Nightmesh

      Hear that Europe?

  • Bah, Online Play can be patched in whenever they want it to be.

  • Aristides

    >> this isn’t fair… I had already bought the game when the store updated. And then.. no online. The trailer on the PS blog did say it! That’s when I found out about it’s release in the first place! … oh well *goes play BRS*

  • Lester Paredes

And just like that, my interest in the game has gone away. It’s not that I only play online, it’s not that i’m any good (I generally suck at fighting games) but there comes a point when I’m done beating up on the computer and want some real people to fight. And since I hate actually interacting with people, online play was the way to go. Oh, well.

  • Foxi Qnet

Laughable. Here’s for hoping that it’ll support AdHoc Party, at least.

  • ArOne

Do we have an ETA on the console version getting patched to +R so we can netplay with the new tweaks?

  • I was wondering why this had so few stars on the psn. Well that explains it.

  • I guess I’ll have to get the PS3 version instead.
