This game is actually the first main title in the series with voice acting. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne was a silent movie. Oh hey Jamieson Price!

  • Kanamion

That advertisement was longer than the trailer.

    • StarWarudo

      Lol, no kidding.

  • ragingmerifes

“Has a hint of English”? It almost offered me fish ‘n’ chips with a cup of tea! I’m so amazed that this game got such an exciting teaser/localization announcement!

  • DesmaX

… Was that the guy that dubbed the Time & Eternity trailer?
    Sounds similar

  • That voice was kinda… hammy. Anyways, it was awesome

    • Richard N

You should hear him when he does his Gigantic Tager.

      • Wait what? That guy does Tager? Well aint that snazzy. So when does this scintillating trailer get a downloadable version on the 3DS? Hmm tell me Atlus.

  • AzureRyuujin

…Literally the day after my birthday….

    Wow o.o

    • Jontaku

      Mine too.

    • Its actually is being released on my birthday ha

  • AuraGuyChris

Sounds like the P4A announcer got dragged into this.

    • Richard N

Nah, I think Ragna’s busy with Blaz Blue actually.

    • ForteWily

      It does…

  • Easdf

Please have an option to turn voices off.

    • Hound

I know it’s strange, but I wish this was a wider consensus. I personally really enjoy games where I can set the tone on my own like a novel.

I had a great deal of fun voice-acting Phoenix Wright for my sisters. Nocturne was a bit heavy and would have made some people uncomfortable if some scenes were dictated at everyone in the room. No voice acting means faster scene skips too. Saving time in later play-throughs

  • Barrylocke89

Woah, chill out Mr. Announcer Guy, it’s not like we haven’t been through a demonic apocalypse before. :P

  • Roger N. Dominick

I have this fond dream that someday, Atlus USA will release a trailer that isn’t pixelated all to hell.

  • Junko Enoshima

This game looks beautiful. And that deluxe pack…yes.

  • Brimfyre

    What a beautiful 3DS game.

Also, that VO. Please let there be a Japanese voice option…

    • Hraesvelgr

      There will not be.

      • ForteWily

        Has that been confirmed?

        • Hraesvelgr

Seems pretty unlikely, but it’s not as if I could say it won’t have dual audio for sure. At first thought, I’m not really sure why anyone would think it would, though. It’s not really something Atlus does.

          • ForteWily

True, but something like that… it a matter that I prefer hard evidence over.

  • ワン スャレ

Atlus is one of the few developers that I allow English dubs. Sound awesome as usual.

  • Zharkiel

So, SMT IV is about boxing demons now? Gotcha Atlus

  • $39420547

when i heard that this will come to Europe i had a stupid smile on my face all day:)

  • Spider-Man

    *Licks lips*

  • leadintea

Ugh.. the narrator sounds way too hammy for a mainline SMT game.

    • Ethan_Twain

That was my impression as well. One of my favorite aspects of SMT is how understated it’s always been. This is way on the other side of the spectrum landing squarely in melodramatic.

Which, I mean, maybe they’ll do a good job with that. But that’s not my favorite sort of style, that’s what all the other JRPGs are doing these days, and that’s not what I come to SMT for. Grump grump grump.

  • Fuck you all. I liked it. c:

  • The Vortex and and the Samurai stuff reminds me of Samurai Jack so much.

  • Alberto Maytorena

    Well, if Nier says so…

  • Gaara D.Dragon

    2D battles.

  • Firekitty

Ahh…Wouldn’t a more serious voice suit the tone of the series better?

Still hoping for dual audio myself. Since it seems to be a trend for 3DS games to retain the original audio lately, SMT4 will probably be the deciding factor on whether I break down and get one at last…or wait until some genius finds a way around the region locking so I don’t need multiple systems to play all the games I want.

    • Uhhhhhhhhh the 3DS has a ton of games with dual audio. Including Blazblue and Fire emblem

      • Firekitty

That was kinda my point. It seems like a lot of games are doing it, so I’m more and more tempted to just get an NA 3DS, since it’s looking like I won’t NEED to do a whole lot of importing anyway.

Therefore, if this game has dual audio, I’ll buy a 3DS now. If it doesn’t, I’ll wait a little longer (either until Hakuoki 3DS is released, since I know AKSYS will leave the voices alone, or until undubs and/or playing imports on a domestic system become possible).

        • …..So why dont you have a 3DS?

          • Firekitty

…Because I need a few more games I’m actually interested in before I can justify buying one? I don’t care about Blazblue, though I’m happy for the fans that it has dual audio. Right now I’m only really interested in Project X-zone, Fire Emblem: Awakening and Hakuoki. SMT4 with dual-audio would make four games I want, which is my minimum to make a console purchase ‘worth it’.

          • …. What kind of games do you like? Because there are a ton on the system already….

          • Firekitty

Mainly RPGs, though I do follow a few fighter and actiony series, and occasionally get the bug to play a platformer or obsess over a puzzle game for a while. I’ll also try just about anything someone pitches as having a good story.

Granted, I’ve never been a huge Nintendo fan, so I haven’t been following the releases as closely as I might. What other dual/original audio (or originally English-language) games are kicking around that I’ve missed?

It wouldn’t be as big a deal if the system weren’t region locked and I could import or buy domestic as I pleased :

          • Region lock isnt that big of a problem anymore since they seem keen to release everything over here. (Despite us still not getting EX troopers or Time travelers) Anyway yeah, Project x Zone bravely default, tons of puzzle games are about, there are 4 fighting games on the system, smash brothers is coming to. In general the system has a lot on it .

          • AkuLord3

No it still is…there’s still tons of interesting games that we wish were brought over.

  • Eric Harris

I know some people think that voice was cheesy. But I felt the opposite. It was weird and mysterious and strong, I think it sounded just a little off and creepy which is perfect for SMT.

  • Quinton Cunningham

ITT: People getting mad over a hacked together trailer with dialogue that probably won’t even be in the game.

  • 愛憎

I’m curious what others think of the combat. Am I not hardcore enough since I’m a bit turned off by how different it is from Nocturne? I just don’t think it looks enjoyable :(

Edit: I don’t know if I deserve being downvoted just for asking for the opinion of others. I want to get this game, and I would like people to tell me what they’re excited about…

    • are you smoking on a pipe? Boy go move ye arse and get soul hackers! GET HYPED, THE SMTIV TRAIN IS COMING TO RAM YA!

      • 愛憎

I want to get hyped! Tell me what to get hyped about!!

    • Zarx

Personally I love it, sure others looking for something flashier or animated would be turned off, but for me the simplicity and higher focus on strategy is welcomed.

      • 愛憎

Thank you for your well mannered response.

        • Zarx

No problem mate, while I don’t know if it convinced you at all, I’m just glad to share the honest opinion.

          • 愛憎

I want to try it out. I just may not be hardcore enough for it.

    • AkuLord3

How different…its uses the same battle system as Nocturne…just not in 3D which isn’t a big deal, you can get over it

      • 愛憎

“You can get over it” is not the most polite way to recommend a game to an individual. I do not need to get over it because I can merely avoid purchasing a video game, but I would like to know what you like about it.

  • Ferofax

    Haaa~do Geeee~i!

LOL, the over-the-top voice reminds me of Hard Gay. But yeah, cool beans. :)

  • Alphabet Soup

    Awww yeah! Can’t wait!

  • Leonardo Duarte

Oh gods above… May you be Lawful, Chaotic or Neutral… Enlighten me in a way to make money enough to buy this game…

‘Cause I want it so bad…

Wait, there’s not actually good or bad in this game… Well, I want it so much that I would fight (in game) the Merak of the animation, not of the game.
