Killer Is Dead TV Shows Off The Gigolo Glasses

By Spencer . April 29, 2013 . 12:18am

When Mondo Zappa isn’t amputating criminals he can take on Gigolo Missions in Killer is Dead. One of the unique tools Grasshopper Manufacture gave him are x-ray glasses called Gigolo Glasses.

This video from Killer is Dead TV has  Mondo Zappa’s boss Vivian Squall and his assistant Mika Takekawa with new gameplay footage. Brian Roses, the cybernetic dude who shows up only in voiceovers, was an executioner like Mondo. He now runs the execution company Mondo works for. Scarlett, the nurse, is a newly revealed character who shows up in stages. For more about Killer is Dead check out our interview with director Goichi Suda.

Aw maaan. This kinda seems a bit shameless. I’m not going to play Killer is Dead (primarily) for the gigolo glasses. I’m going to play it for being a crazy ass assassin in a hard cell-shaded world! There really should be more gameplay clips as opposed to showin’ off the ladies. The video itself gets a little too mammary at times.

That said, this is kind of a cool way of introducing some characters. They kind of remind me Charlie’s Angels, especially with some of the cheesy poses.

    • If the glasses can see through clothing fabrics, then why do they perfectly stop short of the underwear…? I know it’s for intentional gratuitous sex appeal, but still… this is really blatant.

      • JustThisOne

Yeah, I’ve wondered this kinds of things all the time. But it’s best just to leave these unsolved. :I Like… Why does the Hulk always have his pants intact when he’s transformed?

But maybe that’s why they’re called gigolo glasses and not x-ray glasses. :> That’s why you don’t see their bones.

  • Asura

At first I was hyped for this game but now… …call me when Suda51 reverts back to its Killer 7-esque roots.

    • puchinri

Agreed. I feel like all this pandering (in the advertisements of all things) makes me a bit worried for the game itself, justified or no.

  • DemonKingAsura

Lol, people down below are gonna start bitching like Jason Schreier bitched about the sorceress in Dragon’s crown aren’t they. “Sigh”

    • Asura

If it changes shit in the long-run, which enough “bitching” will do, then I hope people “bitch” their goddamn hearts out.

      • There’s nothing that needs to change though bitching about something just because it makes your moral meter goes off is not vaild game criticism and does not do anything to help the industry.

        • puchinri

The industry has problems and they need to called out, realized and addressed out. if you don’t see or understand them, that’s something entirely different.

        • M’iau M’iaut

Making games for one audience only (or the valid perception that we are) is damaging a lot of things. This is not even the Suda of NMH1 where his tongue was planted firmly in cheek. This is the same shit we see in every game video, and yes the time has come to stay ‘wait’.

  • vileBrenman

This was awkward to watch on my phone in public lol.

  • almostautumn

lmao. I love this; I literally feel crazy after watching this— which is exactly the mood I want to be in for Killer Is Dead!

  • Solomon_Kano

What did I just watch? lol

Can’t wait to play this. In a summer packed with games, the only one rivaling my excitement for this is Dragon’s Crown.

    • “KID TV” – What an ironic acronym for a game like this.

      • Solomon_Kano

Ha! I hadn’t thought of that. Ironic indeed.

  • Damarius Wingfield

  • I think I get it now. The world of Killer Is Dead is powered by boobs and glasses lol =P

  • venomz09

anyone know who’ the blonde playing vivian ?

    • z_merquise

You mean the cosplayer for Vivian? That’s Jessica Nigri. The same gal who is the promo-girl/cosplayer for Juliet in Lollipop Chainsaw.

  • Istillduno

I imagine at some point you’ll get killed by someone packing a hidden weapon if you don’t notice it from using these. (Or an alien disguised as a person or something.)

They can’t just exist for gratuitus fanservice surely?

    • Asura

“They can’t just exist for gratuitus fanservice surely?”

The answer to this question will be correlated with whether I take Suda51 off my list of developers who I anticipate good shit from.
