See How The Nintendo 3DS "Morphs" You Into A Power Ranger

By Spencer . May 9, 2013 . 10:38pm

When Namco Bandai announced a Power Rangers Megaforce game for Nintendo 3DS they said it has a feature that morphs players into a Power Ranger using the 3DS camera. No screenshots of the Power Rangers Megaforce game have been released, but we have an idea of how this works thanks to screenshots from Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger Game de Gaburincho.

You take a photo and bam(!) you’re a Power Ranger or Sentai Ranger depending on which game you have. The Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger site has a demo of the morphing too.

Here’s a look at Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger Game de Gaburincho. The game is a beat ’em up with giant robot vs. monster fights. Namco Bandai will probably reskin the Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger game and turn it into Power Rangers Megaforce. The game is slated for release in Japan on August 8.

    That’s pretty neat.

It’s like a dream comes true. You lives in awesome era, kids.

    • I swear to god… if only we’d had this kind of tech back when we were 12.

      • neocatzon

true.. I always want to be a white ranger.

  • SilentMC

I like how confused the kid looks to be there, I wonder if the MegaForce game will run on the engine as this, like Kamen Rider Dragon Knight and Climax Heroes

    Is this serious?

-The camera is focused on you.
    -Press the “Capture” button.
-Picture of a Power Ranger’s mask shows up. The Picture has no relevancy to the camera shot.

It’s a cheap trick, and it reminds me of a plastic mirror in a toddler’s book.

Kids will still go nuts for it.

    • But… that’s all of the power rangers series. Cheap TV magic that kids go nuts over.

      Were you expecting something different?

    • It’s funny that you seem to expect the developers of an over-used licensed game series to spend billions of dollars in researching and developing next generation camera tracking technology for a game that is aimed at 8 year olds, for a feature that is probably used as a “bonus feature” and serves no useful purpose in the actual game itself.

Specifically about Megaforce, I hope they’d bring back Johnny Yong Bosch (hopefully as Zeo Ranger 4 Green), Daniel Southworth (Quantum Ranger), to name a few.

Besides, Jason David Frank already did for Dino Thunder.

The theme song needs to play during the morphing sequence. Otherwise, people won’t feel as cool about it.

Just to Clarify, this game is based on the current Sentai series in Japan. The current Power Rangers series is based off of a Sentai from 2 years ago. So, this will not be brought to the US for at least 2 years or more.
