Pac-Man Dash, Pac-Man Monsters Look Like Namco Bandai’s Next Pac-Man Games

By Spencer . May 17, 2013 . 1:46am

pac-mang With the upcoming Pac-Man animated series, Namco Bandai is rolling out more Pac-Man games like Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures. Siliconera actually heard about the game a year ago through our usual trademark digging.

Just yesterday, Namco Bandai registered Pac-Man Dash! and Pac-Man Monsters. Both games have been unannounced so far. Since Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures is slated for release this fall on most consoles, Pac-Man Dash! and/or Pac-Man Monsters are probably mobile or downloadable games.

Why… Dear lord why… Why do they continue to milk this bygone franchise? This is money that could be spent localizing Tales games, or on making Klonoa 3. But no, they spend it on games like this that no one asked for…

    Thanks, Namco.

I wouldn’t say nobody asked for these type of games. There are a number of people out there that like playing Pac-man in some shape or form. Personally I wish they’d make a follow up to Championship Edition DX but I’ll live without it.

Just because it isn’t news you wanted to hear doesn’t mean Namco should be criticised.

Yeah, but do they want variants on the original arcade game, or do they want stuff like this that just slaps the character onto some generic title? The success of Pac-Man CE and the failure of Pac-Man Party would suggest the former.

And sorry, but they should be criticized when they do stuff like this. Especially since it shows off their own hypocrisy: Pac-Man hasn’t made big sales numbers for years, and yet they continue to relentlessly milk him even though low sales has been their given reason for not continuing several other franchises they own.
