Super Heroine Chronicle Is Like Super Robot Wars With Anime Heroines

By Spencer . May 30, 2013 . 1:02am

Super Heroine Chronicle brings a bunch of anime heroines together for a strategy RPG kind of like how Super Robot Taisen is a mashup of mecha. The game is being developed by the Queen’s Blade: Spiral Chaos and Queen’s Gate: Spiral Chaos team.

Super Heroine Chronicle has characters from ten anime series so far:

Twin Angel
Di Gi Charat
Swan Song of the Valkyries: Symphogear
Super Sonico
Higurashi When They Cry
Aria the Scarlet Ammo
Infinite Stratos
The Familiar of Zero
Dream Hunter Rem

Super Heroine Chronicle  is in development for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

    Rena! sold.

    • Guest

      Ditto, for me!

    • PreyMantis

I can just see one of her attack. She feeds the enemies with the food she made stuffed with razors in them.

Also an attack where she shouts “Usoda!” with a scary face, then laughs hysterically which places a bind effect on a target.

On the happier side, I can see a move where she shouts “Omochikaeri!” as a buff.

        • PreyMantis

Hmmm…. I guess those who down voted me didn’t get the reference about Rena… Whatever…

Anyway, what if she’s not bluffing, wilI she ever take the enemies home if they’re cute…? (Another reference, in case some of you don’t know).

  • Highasthesky

Just imported senran kagura and kaizoku musou……guess i’m importing again….*sigh*

    • Kevadu

Hey, at least the yen has gotten cheaper. Yay Abenomics!

Seriously, last year was super painful for importing (and it wasn’t much better the year before that…). This is the best things have been in a loooong time.

      • Highasthesky

You’re right. No matter how high the price gets i’m going to import it anyway so, the cheaper the better.

  • yo1234

houki, aria, and louise??? i want this… and heroes phantasia!

  • Anonymous

    Namco Bandai right?
    Never gonna get localized

    • Chris Yuen

People said that about Project X Zone…but…

      • Anonymous

That game had a chance, And OPRainfall, But this game…

      • Except all those characters are under the three video game companies involved. This would have the same issue as SWR. All kinds of licenses outside of Japan. It aint gonna get localized.

      • ronin4life

To add to what others have said, pxz also had Nintendo.

        • Chris Yuen

*shrugs* What I am trying to say is that Namco Bandai’s announcement of the localization surprised many, including myself, as a lot of people had written off the chances of it being localized when it was first announced for Japan, due to the number of licensing issues that potential publishers would have to deal with.

Nintendo platform? Yea, I know that, but things were only starting to be set in motion when Tekken Project’s Harada tweeted ( that he’s proposing the localization of said title, raising the hopes of it coming over.

Namco Bandai’s eventual confirmation of the title makes Anon’s point about Namco being…well…Namco moot, as we had the same reaction when PxZ was initially announced. “It’s Namco. Surely they wouldn’t bring this over. *Title announced* OHMYGOB I LUV YOU NAMCO! Title gets upgraded to limited edition? Namco’s on a roll!”

However, compared to PxZ, this Super Heroine Chronicle seems like it’s much too niche towards Japanese gamers to see it making its way towards others, Namco Bandai being involved or not.

PxZ at least fed off that are instantly recognizable faces that most gamers have seen and loved, such as Ryu/Ken, .Hack characters as well as a host of others from games that they have played before, driving up the nostalgia factor.

Out of this list, how many do the average gamer recognize? I watch a few anime series myself, admittedly not as much as some of the others here, but I only recognize the following titles from the list:

Swan Song of the Valkyries: Symphogear
          Aria the Scarlet Ammo
          Infinite Stratos
          The Familiar of Zero

I agree with Anon (but at least Namco brought PxZ over right?):
The chances that this game will see the light outside of Japan seems very small.

  • Sylveria

Daw it’s so cute.. too bad I don’t know who any of these girls are.

  • I want this soooo bad! I don’t know weather to be happy and proud or sad that I know where each and every girl is from. XD

    • z_merquise

I’m quite the opposite here. I don’t know anyone except for Super Sonico.

    • Kevadu

I knew most of them, for sure, but there were still a couple I missed.

  • evilmoogle

3 characters voice by Rie Kugimiya ?! Overkill man.

    • XypherCode

      That’s what I thought. lol :D

    • Brimfyre

Perhaps, but imagine a crossover game made of nothing BUT Rie Kugimiya characters. Now that would be great.

      • I can get behind this.

      • psycho_bandaid

I would endorse this if they included video footage of her having conversations with herself. With like three or four characters at a time.

      • Asuna Ilano

        Tsundere battle. 0////0

w-well i-it’s not like I’m gonna look forward to it. >.<

      • MrTyrant

No, it would be a nightmare and I would suggest to burn it with fire.

    • Kevin Schwarz

Shakugan no Shana is missing. Too bad another game we won’t get over here.

I bet they will have a Rie Kugimiya tsundere combo attack.

  • psycho_bandaid

I know I am falling for the obvious marketing ploy of “throw in many characters and you will attract fans just to see them in action.” I know, but seeing Di Gi Charat in there has broken me. Luckily I actually liked the Spiral Chaos games. Definitely importing.

  • DyLaN

I just want to know of one thing: Can I beat Aria up? XD

    Let see:

    -Watched: AtSA and IS
-Heard be4: Symphogear, TFoZero and Higurashi

    Time for some google-fu then.

  • makubexnas

    SRW game + anime girls + japan + ???? = profit !!!!

    its [email protected]#king genius!!

  • sd28

so queens gate 3d hopefully without the armour break system

  • 5parrowhawk

QB: Spiral Chaos was rather good. Surprisingly good, in fact, considering that they obviously had to spend a lot of dev time on adding fanservice.

Too bad I’m really not that interested in most of these series. They missed a trick by not going in for a couple of other big-name series like Strike Witches or Nanoha; even if the licensing costs had been substantially higher, the expanded fanbase appeal would probably pay for that several times over.

Plus, having Dejiko squabble with Vita would be a riot.

    • MrTyrant

Nanoha should be in a proper SRW too D: I want to pair squad her with Amuro. Double white devil breaker combo.

    • s07195

I actually liked QG:SC more than the first game, even though you had to choose characters instead, meaning that not all characters could be used like in QB:SC.

The Spiral Chaos games are the only games in which I seriously used repair units… orz.

  • Zonic505

So a 3D version of Spiral Chaos, but more focus on crossing over different anime heroines (& maybe no armor break system).

OOOOOHHHHH I cannot wait to see who else gets added.

  • I think Sonico had the best attack there.

  • Keima88

Wow. Genius. Instant win game xD.

  • MrTyrant

If it’s made by Queen’s Blade team, that team was the same who made SRW MX right? I like it. I need more animes here and I would be happy.

    • s07195

Whoa, really? The same team made MX?

  • Brion Valkerion

Not interested, mostly because I have no clue what any of these characters are from lol. Good to see them branching out from SRW though, more games are always a win.

    • Mr_SP

I only know a little under half of them… Which is better than most SRW releases, really.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    This gon b guud!

  • Mr_SP

Still have no idea where many of the protagonists have gone! Though Ichika was arguably the worst part of Infinite Stratos…

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

This game is going to be hot :3

  • Brimfyre

I watch a lot of anime and I haven’t seen any of those shows except Higurashi.

I have played those Queen’s Blade games and they are actually fantastic. So I might have to check some of these shows out.

  • Zonder88

    Would play for IS alone.

  • Why did this have to be in SD!? I’m so much in despair right now. they’ve broken my dream to see Reki in a cel-shaded game *tears* Also it will have to feature more characters. No Reki = no buy!

    • Exkaiser

These are far from the only characters in the game. I’m sure your favorite will be included if they’re relatively important… or popular.

    • Mr_SP

Surely they will be. I mean, this is a Super Robot Wars spinoff. The only characters at risk are the ones that can’t fight… And possibly the men. Reki is, what, the second female “party member” in Aria, after Aria herself? No, wait… third? In any case, Reki is surely on the short list.

  • Shariest

    Read the Queen’s- part…
And am now afraid to watch the video O_o’

    • MrTyrant

Watch the video, there is not much fanservice here. These guys also worked in SRW, they were summoned for Queen’s Blade spiral of chaos because they know how to handle crossover games that’s all.

It amuse me how people pre-judge something.

      • Shariest

Heh, i made the comment about 2,3 milliseconds before pressing play :) No need to worry XD

  • Sergio BriceƱo

It has Dejiko and that is all I had to know.

  • echokanon

Good to know the Zero no Tsukaima’s brand can still surface again after the author has passed away. But I wonder does that mean all they need is to gain the right to use the brand from the publisher without the need of author’s permission?

    • IIRC, when as writer dies, his rights go to either the publisher, one of his relatives/close friends or to some kind of estate. Surely, they’ve gained the approval of the current rights-holder to use Zero no Tsukaima… but I do wonder if Zero no Tsukaima will be finished by someone else.

      • Mr_SP

Technically, the rights go to the author’s family. Unless the publisher owned those rights in the first place.

  • William Hsia

ah, so its a no strip mode of queens gate…awwwww.

  • biskmater

Koto from kyosogiga and Sonico, I have to admit I am surprised.

  • BenderIsGreat

I haven’t watched any of those series. I guess I fail at nerd…..

  • Okay, I am so glad that I predominantly play games on Sony systems. Now, I just have to learn Japanese so the experience will be complete. This game looks awesome. I hope they include some more characters from Aria, Zero no and Infinite Stratos. I also hope that we get Shana announced as part of this as well (and possibly Eu… Because I really like Eu). The possibilities here are kind of endless, especially with the classic series that are being included as well.

Note: I want Saber as well. Please include Saber!!! XD

  • kaizin

aria is in has me sold~

  • Migon

Needs more old school heroines then it will be perfect and Saber ofc :3

  • Vash bane

lolz good to see a trailer finally rather than reading about looks interesting sadly I don’t know every character is from except a few

I would be interested, except… they seem to have chosen from a pool of entirely bad anime.

  • ShadowDivz

Super Heroine Chronicle Is Like Super Robot Wars With Anime Heroines

You were expecting it to be like something else? O_O
I thought it was pretty obvious.

Made by the team who made Queen’s Blade/Gate?!
This is gonna be legen-WAIT FOR IT!-…..DARY!

    • Just Tim

At first I thought of this game as the distaff counterpart of Hero Chronicle, since it had Ultraseven, Kamen Rider Black, and Universal Century Gundam.

  • Anime10121

Wasnt really interested because of lack of characters I actually recognize (well barring Louise and the Kyousigagagoogoo chick), but that trailer, actually looked kinda neat. Doubt I’d ever buy, because I refuse to import JRPGs, but It does look interesting.

  • Raltrios

Ha, the only ones I’m overly familiar with are Rena, Aria, Houki, and Louise. The Sonico and DiGiCharat series I’ve heard of before, too.

Game itself doesn’t look to be to my taste, but those names will have me keeping an eye on this just in case.

  • s07195

I’ve heard of half of them, but haven’t watched any of their animes… *_*

    • Kibbitz

It still helps obviously if you’re familiar with the series, of course, but if they do it like SRT, they’ll fuse together their story elements and you’ll learn stuff about it by playing this. OTOH, they could do it like Heroes Phantasia, which would be sad.

  • bamco knows this SRT formula works pretty well, and it does.
but the roster is very shallow, would like to see more characters

  • Jesse

Good thing the PS3 is region free. Now we just need a release date.

  • Theofratus ‘Geese’ Lester

All I care about is Super Sonico. :p

  • Theofratus ‘Geese’ Lester

Since I saw the full detail on who’s gonna be in this game, here are the names for each character in its respective series. The last 3 are original characters.

Red Angel and Blue Angel from Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel
    Koto from Kyousogiga
    Dejiko from Di Gi Charat
Hibiki Tachibana from Senki Zesshou Symphogear
Super Sonico from Nitroplus’ Super Sonico
Rena Ryuuguu from Higurashi: When They Cry
Aria H. Kanzaki from Aria the Scarlet Ammo
    Houki Shinonono from Infinite Stratos
Louise Francoise from The Familiar of Zero F
Ayanokouji from Dream Hunter Rem: Naoko Matsui as Rem Ayanokouji

    Original Characters:

    Meru Ransheru
    Noel Kazamatsuri
