Tekken’s Lily Returns In Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode’s New Episode

By Laura . June 2, 2013 . 5:30pm

A trailer compiling all that has been shared about Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode was released recently by Namco Bandai. It can be seen below.

The trailer covers the new animated sequences, Digitter, new enemy Digimon, Decode level, the two new episodes and their related characters (the X-Antibody Royal Knights and Rina Shinomiya and all the Demon Lords), and the DoReMiFa Lodge.

The trailer also shows that you can go to MasterTyrannomon’s bar and hire “bodyguard” DIgimon there to accompany you on your adventures. Click here to see our full coverage of the game in case you need to get caught up with the above features.

In addition, 4-person multiplayer has been confirmed for the Colosseum. Also, Lily (of Tekken fame who also appeared in Digimon World Re:Digitize) appears to have a larger role than before and appears in the Demon Lords scenario.

Many of the new Digimon are also shown, including ones not seen before such as Deramon and Piccolomon. 160 raisable Digimon have been confirmed.

The game is due for release in Japan on June 27, 2013. The first print release comes with a Limited Edition V-mon card. The card has no numbers (so it’s unusable), but it is designed like a first generation Digimon Card, Hyper Coliseum, and has Rina’s picture on it.

Man, I didn’t even know there were Digimon cards. Did those come before or after the TV show? Because I know with Pokemon it’s games -> cards -> TV show, but with Digimon I had thought it was TV show -> games -> toys

    • konsama

IIRC for digimon it was first the D pets-> Tv show->Cards and toys-> non pet video games

      • Renaldi Saputra

nope.. tv shows was first in 1999 meanwhile the very first game was in Sega Saturn in September 1998 but never got localized IIRC.. it’s named Digital Monster Version S: Digimon Tamers
cards were first in 1997 IIRC not long after the digital monster v-pet

        so for the right is:
        v-pet > manga > cards > console v-pet games > tv shows > console non v-pet games..

i don’t really know about the other toys, though

        • konsama

Ohh i see, thanks for clearing that up.

          • Renaldi Saputra

the first digimon world was included in console v-pet game..
it was released in Japan on January 1999 before the anime series started on March 6th

    • Renaldi Saputra

Digimon cards aren’t popular outside Japan so it still stays only in Japan.. there’re still many arcade games in Japan that involve digimon cards..
and yes, they come first in 1997 IIRC

      • There used to be Digimon cards in English, for the first few Starter packs. I believe they stopped before the second round of cards (the Alpha series) came around.

        • Renaldi Saputra

i knew, I had some of them.. made in 1999 (maybe they translated the japanese 1997 version on that year)..

also I didn’t too understand about how to play it until I read some of the gaming rules on wikimon.net..
I thought it was more complicated than pokemon or yugi-oh so that many ppl didn’t enjoy it..

          • The concept of Digimon itself was difficult for most people to understand, after having grown accustomed to Pokemon. The fact that Digimon have several possible evolutions? What? XD

I think the card game relies more on chance because of the rock-paper-scissor element than Pokemon does, so it’s also a bit less “skill” and more “luck.”

          • Renaldi Saputra

digimon card games aren’t consistent too..
it has the version without HP and there’s one with HP (the 2007 version)..
even though it’s confusing, digimon cards have many function.. for example you can “Card Slash” it just like in digimon tamers into your D-Ark, and then using it on arcade games..

less skill?? i don’t think so, depending on the card version.. bcos cards now have vary effects especially the Perfect and Ultimate level.. we have to ask digimon card gamer for it

nevertheless, I still prefer playing digimon cards in digimon digital card arena on PSX or digimon crusader on i-phone

          • The two … now there’s 4 or 5 series … are incompatible. You can’t play the Alpha series (with the HP) with the Hyper Colosseum series (without HP). I think they restarted it partially because they were starting to get too unbalanced with the Digimon. Some of the Child level were starting to get stronger than some Perfect because every set had higher and higher numbers.

Well, I’m not saying it requires no skill. But compared to Pokemon, where you choose what attack to use and you have a bench, and YGO, which also has a bench and way more trap/magic (don’t kill me for improper use of terminology; haven’t seen YGO in a long time!) cards than Digimon, Digimon mainly depends on luck of the draw – what evolution cards you end up having in your hand – and what your opponent has. You can’t even choose your attack. (This is just my opinion; I was thinking about what made the Digimon card game different from other series XD)

          • Renaldi Saputra

hmm about not being able to choose your own attack, well maybe you’re right.. the control of the players are very limited, yea maybe that’s why it’s not that fun so that there’re not many ppl interested in it, then they made the console games: digimon digital card battle and digimon digital card arena, also digimon card battle wonderswan version (haven’t played it though)

          • I haven’t played the card games on any console. You said they used cards in Digimon Crusader, though?

I completely missed that the PS1 version existed. I never saw it / heard of it until just recently ><

          • Renaldi Saputra

well, digimon crusader is a card RPG game, maybe quite different from any digimon card game this time (either console card game or manual card game)..
you can compare Digimon Crusader with other card RPG like Valkyrie Crusade or Puzzles & Dragons bcos the gameplay of the 3 are similar

          • I’ve always wanted to try it, but the iPhone is proving a bit stubborn in region jumping =( So it’s an RPG, compete with charas and story and all? How are you liking it?

          • Renaldi Saputra

since it’s still in Japanese, I can’t really grasp the story.. I quite like the gameplay (although I haven’t discover more), when you have to give 3 same energy cards in order to start attacking.. even you can do chain combo in it.. for more info, see this

      • Steven Higgins

We’ll the recent Bandai Digimon trademark included card games so maybe we’ll start seeing them again

        • Renaldi Saputra

          card games included??
hmm there will be 2 options then..
          1. the xros wars card game
          2. digimon crusader

  • Ni

There’s so much beign included that It’s almost like a new game. Why they released the game on the psp first then?

    • Randy Marsh

This happens with a lot of Namco Bandai games.

      • Ni

yeah. but this one get ported really quick the original re digitize is only one year old on the psp. The game sales was bad or they did the jump to the 3ds because they wanted to reach the kids? Lately I started to think that if the 3ds port have high sales nambai are going to remake the others Digimon world games for the 3DS. (maybe i’m just thinking too much about it).

        • Tylor Boreas Makimoto

They probably didn’t meet sales expectations, saw the great sales for the 3DS, thought they could capitalize on that and decided to port it.

        • Renaldi Saputra

          the sales were very well..
85k in first week and 35k in second week..
they’re rarely psp games that are still sold around 40% from its first week sales

      • Renaldi Saputra

I think this is the first time they do it, following with that One Piece Romance Dawn

  • Linhua

… hold on a minute here… now that she shows up AGAIN… I feel the need to ask.

… did she show up in the Digimon games FROM the Tekken series…?

… or did she show up in the Tekken games FROM the Digimon games…?

… i’d say Digimon SERIES but I used to watch Digimon a long time ago and never once seen her. So i’m just assuming she has only made an appearance in the games versus the TV show… IF that’s where she originated from.

    • D-Rev

Lili and her Butler Sebastian came from the Tekken series into this Digimon game

      • Linhua

… ahh… okay… thanks for clearing that up.

    • ShadowDivz

Fun fact: She’s in the crossover game Queen’s Gate Spiral Chaos.

      • Linhua

… fun fact indeed… was she the only Tekken character there…?

        • ShadowDivz

That im not sure, since i havnt finished the game yet.

          • Linhua

… has it released in America or did you import it…? .. I haven’t kept up with the game very much at all nor do I know what it’s about.

          • ShadowDivz

Its not leaving japan. Ever, nuff said.

          • Linhua

._. Okay WOW… now you’ve got me wondering just what exACTly is the reason for being THAT sure. XD

          • ShadowDivz

Google queen’s gate/queen’s blade. Perfect knockdown. You should have your answer.

        • alixraen

          Yes, she was.

          • Linhua

… I kinda thought so… I wonder what’s so special about Lili of all Tekken characters though. Don’t get me wrong, she’s one of my top characters next to Asuka, but i’ve just become curious is all… lol.

          • alixraen

I would have to assume it’s because she’s a fan favorite – however it’s only these two games she’s appeared in as a crossover by herself. I think she’s sort of become the face of the “new” Tekken, if you know what I mean.

          • Linhua

… I know exACTly what you mean… lol.

          • Slayven19

She’s a fan favorite and the way her character is made she just fits in cross-overs like this that are more light hearted.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      it’s named Crossover..
many characters from another series come in some other games..
and in this case, Tekken and Digimon are still owned by Bamco so it’s reasonable they do crossover with their own characters

  • I hope this game comes out in english!

  • konsama

Man A PUNIMON EGG! I had really missed it from DW1 when i palyed the first Redigitize.

This game looks so much better to vanilla. Now the only thing missing is the obvious question.

    Will it be localized?

  • Keima88

Still praying each day to the game gods for this to come to the west…

  • Bunzi

Maaaan. Can we get some Eddy, or Christie, or…

I dunno. Some one not so typically anime to crossover in all these things every so often. It’d make my year to see Eddy in a Digimon game.

    • DyLaN

Keep in mind this crossover works cuz Tekken and Digimon are owned by the same company…

      • Bunzi

Of course. Which means anyone from Tekken could be in the game, not just the “most obvious” choice. We could have Nina and Miguel beating up Tyrannomon if they wanted.

        • Slayven19

They get the popular characters that will help sell the game and fit in the game Lily is like morrigan they just fit in every cross over game.

          • Chiupon

Truth. Lili is by far one of the most popular Tekken characters.

  • Mixkon

Please… Less trailers, and more confirmations that it’s being localized. : ( It’s only going to get me more jealous.

old news, lily is also on psp version

    • Did you read the rest of the article? I didn’t think so.

Did you played psp version? I didn’t think so. even in DIGIMON ADVENTURE all 7 leaders appeared that was better than lily

        • brian

That’s pretty irrelevant since this article about Lily having an increased role in this game.

is still LILY i prefer someone from GOD EATER will be more interesting

          • MrTyrant

            >Suggest something
            >GOD EATER

            C’mon people.

        • M’iau M’iaut

Read the darn articles folks before announcing ‘old news’ to the world.

    • MrTyrant

One thing is that you hate the character and another thing it’s complaning about old news when clearly the article state that Lily will get new events for 3DS.

    • Renaldi Saputra

i know, but in psp version she only appeared in the colloseum, in this version now she is also got involved in the story line not just becoming your rival..
I think this is bcos she had Lilithmon as partner

    • Guest

yes, we know she’s also present on the psp version, but please read the whole gid-damn article and realize how ‘funny’ your comment is..
or if you’re too lazy, read the title carefully.. (keyword: Lily, RETURNS)

    • >Did you played psp version?
This is where you nulled your opinion.

        Lily is boring

  • Second time a human “applied direct physical force” on Belphemon.

Coincidence too Lili’s style is a refined and graceful form of street fighting.

    How will Savers’ Masaru approve?

  • Seraph

I can’t seem to watch the video. It’s Private.

  • doubleO7

    “This video is private”

    • Just Tim

That’s just a regional IP block, if anything.

      • Renaldi Saputra

no, maybe namco bandai only wants to change the quality, bcos the video was in low quality

    • yo1234

I think i ran into a similar problem before. i just subscribed and it took care of the issue. i’ve yet to try it with this though.
Edit:Nope. it’s probably an IP block like tim said because it doesn’t even show who posted the vid. just the private message.

    • Mecha_the_Hedgehog

someone else posted the trailer so just use this one it worked for me.

  • Tonton Ramos

I want at least Asuka Kazama in this game as well why? Two reasons 1. Lili needs a rival to battle with. Bare fists or with Digimons and 2. I want the those two get pissed off at each other for lulz…

    • Renaldi Saputra

Daimon Masaru: “Did someone call me??”

  • Mecha_the_Hedgehog

Its beyond frustrating that there is no news on this getting localized. They have no reason not to localize this I mean come on its going to be on three separate channels soon and the dvds are selling so well that there releasing all the old series within a year. I swear Namco Bandai Saban and Nintendo would have to be brain dead to not consider this.

    • Renaldi Saputra

there has been news about Bandai filling a digimon gaming trademark in US.. hopefully this is the one they mention along with digimon adventure rpg and some recent digimon games

    • Slayven19

If its on psp that’s reason enough right there not to localize.

  • thelmas

i want this game in europe, i don’t care if they don’t translate this in italian, i don’t care if they will sell this only on the eshop, i just want to go and destroy everything with my Ulforce Veedramon

  • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Is there at least an Olympus 12 reference? Coronamon and Lunamon weren’t playable lines in the last game if I recall, but I didn’t play it. If it were to get localized I’d love to be able to play with Apollomon. Plus the Olympus 12 need more screen time. We still don’t even have all twelve if I recall.

    • Renaldi Saputra

if they include more digimon, they will oversize the game..
re:digitize is different comparing to the digimon story version (sunburn and moonlight also lost evolution) which had around 400 digimon in total..
you can see the differences especially the battle system

      • Vernauth

probably its not the main reason.

maybe the main reason was limited budget and time,

if this one sells well, pretty sure we will see the sequel in the future which add more digimons.

        • Renaldi Saputra

you’re right about the limited budget and time..
but adding more digimon will raise the size of the game that they should aware of..

a pokemon game (main series) with 600++ pokemon is about 256MB in size..

if there’s 600++ digimon in re:digitize, what size it will be??

  • Renaldi Saputra

    So, I was wrong..
I thought that Alphamon’s hissatsu waza would be Digitalize of Soul
but the video shows that it’s Kyuukyoku Senjin Ouryuuken..

Lily used kick to Belphemon.. aaand It’s not very effective

  • Brimfyre

I’m glad I took the Tekken plunge last year and played every Tekken game known to man, because those characters sure as hell pop up in the most random places.

    • Shariest

I’m still waiting for Tekken themed soda’s :P

  • alixraen

Really, no one else pointed out her name is spelled “Lili” and not “Lily”?

    • Slayven19

I think they did that on purpose for the game.

  • Daobs_

We should all contact Namco Bandai and ask for an international release.

Let’s start a petition! Bring your pitchforks and guns.

    • Steven Higgins

It would be more effective to do it on August 1st.

      • Slayven19

        Whats august 1st?

        • Renaldi Saputra

          Odaiba Memorial Day..
the fondest day that every digimon fan remember..

          • Slayven19

            Ah makes sense then.

  • Vash bane

link to vid please its private :/

  • Steven Higgins

    A few things.

    1. Localization announcement=day 1 pre-order.

    2. Did anyone else notice that when the Digimon “die” the particle effect looks EXACTLY like D.N.A./Digi-Soul from Data Squad/Savers?

    3. “I wish” we could get an OFFICIAL Digimon MMO. I know there’s Masters and it’s fun, but it’s fan made and many fans who didn’t like Savers avoid it. Imagine if Namco Bandai/Bandai made one that wasn’t tied to any particular season/series. Think of how many evolution branches would be possible.

P.S. Points if you get why there are quote marks around ‘I wish’

    • Renaldi Saputra

whut? I think Digimon Masters is an official MMO, only it’s not made in Japan..
I heard they had Digimon Xros Wars RPG but only in Japan named Digimon Battle Walker..
for more, here’s a video of it

      • Steven Higgins

No, DMO is made by fans. Digitalic in Korea and Joymax in America. Bandai has nothing to do with it so it isn’t official. Still fun though

        • Renaldi Saputra

so Digitalic is just a company representing fanmade games? I saw Bandai and TOEI logo in DMO.. doesn’t matter, is it?
if that so, then the only official MMO is just Digimon Battle Walker for Japan only..
and for other online games, Digimon Crusader maybe

  • Daobs_

I wonder if there will be any news on this at E3 next week.

  • Is the 4 player mode WiFi multiplayer or only local? This games boxart suggests it has Nintendo Network capabilities but I can’t find anything else about it online. Help!
