Man reading these articles really make me wanna buy this game! I had the original on gamecube and thought it was pretty cool, but this looks like a huge step up

  • benhofb

SOOOO MUCH HYPE!!! I seriously cannot wait. You damn journalists and your early copies… :P

    • Enzo

VERY early copies, at that. Nearly a month early.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Nice review and side tips (≧ω≦) I can’t wait to till Sunday!! so super hype 64

  • Betrayer

    Sunday needs to come faster…

  • Shane Guidaboni

Can’t wait until I get my copy! If I have one complaint, I was really hoping they would do away with the weeds thing once and for all.

    • Detrimont

they’ll never get rid of weeds, it’s a gameplay mechanic, forcing you to play everyday

      • Arrei

        Beautiful Town ordinance.

        Boom.

        • Detrimont

you still get weeds, just not as many

      • Shane Guidaboni

I feel like there are already better incentives in place that make you want to play every day.

  • Doctor Nebula

June 9th, the day my life ends and the animal crossing begins.

    • SHSL Big Bro

The release of Animal Crossing : New Leaf. Also known as the Worst, Most Despair-Inducing Incident in the History of Mankind.

  • Charles

    Longest two days ever.

  • Chim_era

It looks really good! Everybody has been giving it favorable reviews.

And while I found the former AC a bit boring after a time this one looks like it will last a long time :D

    • Ethan_Twain

I think all Animal Crossing games get boring after a time. That’s the nature of it – since the game never ends itself, the experience only ends when it gets boring and the player moves on.

They say to always leave the audience wanting more, but Animal Crossing by the nature of it’s design can’t do that. It gets run into the ground.

      • http://www.youtube.com/Lyonharvestmoonfan Eduardo Rocha

Agreed. No matter what, you’ll get bored of Animal Crossing sooner or later. I usually play the game for about 1 year and a half and stop playing them.

        • Adrian

It helps greatly if you play online with friends. I played City Folk for two years, which is more than I can say for any other game. I mean, if it takes gamers a year and a half to get bored with a game, Nintendo is doing something right.

  • 3PointDecoupage

    All glory to Animal Crossing!

There’s no grass depletion anymore!? YAY!

  • Christopher Ronald Shipman

I can’t wait to play and I’m def sending you my FC

  • Arrei

Grass depletion does, in fact, still exist – just heavily tweaked so it’s no longer the environment-spoiling disaster it used to be.

Changes include heavily reduced rate of wear (and “heavily” is an understatement, you can see how review players with the game who have been running around their towns for a month now still have all their grass whereas it’d be a disaster zone by now in CF), the ability to speed up regrowth by planting flowers on eroded spots and watering them so that grass grows back from completely dead to lush and vibrant in roughly three weeks, and, most importantly, the grass will regrow even when you don’t play unlike in City Folk, so people who are too lazy or otherwise unwilling to spend the effort can simply set the clock forward a few months, log in, return the time to the proper date, and bada-boom, healthy, happy grass.

And perhaps as importantly, the erosion doesn’t look so dang hideous anymore.

  • ShadowDivz

Damn you make this game sound fun. Itl probably be my first game when i eventually get a 3DS.

I really loved the one Gamecube especially the cover art.

    • Ethan_Twain

This is covered in the article. I would direct you to bullet point 4 beneath “Food for Thought”.

      • ShadowDivz

Yeah sorry, i hadn’t completely read it at the time of post. I edited my post.

    • Arrei

Money trees still exist, players have encountered them in JP dream villages.

I presume you need a golden shovel to plant them, which is now more difficult to obtain than previously.

  • Astraye

I really dont know if i have to buy it.

  • FlameEmperor

    Well…….. I know what I’m buying Next for sure….

  • http://oneweakness.com/ PRIZZA

I feel as though it’s important to re-highlight two points that Arrei made:
In response to “Food for Thought” #2, grass depletion still exists, but to a lesser extent. Also, you can still plant money trees despite point #4 saying you cannot.

  • Adam Hunter

Just like to correct the Food for thought point no.4. You can indeed plant money trees, however to do so you need a golden shovel. Without one the money will appear as a crack as normal. You must also bury a minimum of 1k (so that it appears as a money bag).

  • wahyudil

reading this make me want to buy 3DS ASAP instead of waiting for Ace Attorney 5 ….

  • Detrimont

grass deterioration IS back, it’ just not as bad as it was.
(just put flowers where there’s no grass, and it’ll grow back in a few weeks).
and you can plant money trees, you’re just not at the point where you can get the gold shovel(which you need), because you’ll need to play the game for months to be able to get it(you need the final store upgrade, and buy fertilizer 50 times)

  • komiko12

Is that a reference to Munna and the Dream World?

    • Jibun Rest@rt

Both are actually references to the word “baku,” which are spirits that devour dreams. Baku is also the Japanese word for tapir.

  • Space_Ghost

Representing IL! Nice. I’m from there myself.

  • JWAI

Animal Crossing: New Leaf and The Last of US = The Last of me :D

  • hawk222

So, with that friend code, are you just asking people to visit your town via the Dream Suite, or are you inviting people to be your friend and physically visit your town?

  • http://thekrazygamer.com/ Travis

I’ve had this game since day 1 and I have to confirm this IS the best Animal Crossing ever! ;)

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

a bot with a Good point? wha?!
