I like Yui more than Cryska, especially after Cryska killed a certain someone that was important to Yuya becoming a man…

    • MrTyrant

      ^Spoilers!

Latrova lives and appear after Cryska’s dead. She tells Yuuya that the sister didn’t kill her. Yuuya laters joins with Latrova’s forces before the final battle. He desert the UN and the USA armies from what I know.

      • dis be gud

So is this info actually from the game and novels? Because I don’t remember that happening in the novel. Hell, I don’t even recall Cryska dying. What you’re saying sounds a bit dubious.

        • Pavis

Nope, it actually did happen. There’s spoilers on a forum animesuki.com tells you the ending and such

        • dynamic-zx

The game continues way after the novels end.

          *BIG spoiler*

          you’ve been warned..

          last warning…
          1
          2
          3
          4
          5
          6
          7
          8

Cryska ends up being the love interest, Yui is actually Yuuya’s sister. There’s alot of esper/Newtype shenanigans towards the later half ot the game. Cryska does indeed die because she needs to be bathed in that chemical bath every so often or else she will deterioriate. The end of the game’s climax occurs at the same time as the attack on Kashgar in MLA and Yuuya actually saves Takeru and co from the new laser fort class BETA that would have shot down the Susanoo in orbit.

          • Sardorim

Basically you’re just making stuff up. >_> No way Yui and Yuuya can be brother and sister as you meet their parents through flashbacks or in Yui’s case you meet them when she’s a kid. Yuuya also had a Caucasian Mother and Japanese Father, Yui has Japanese Mother and Father and was born in Japan while Yuya was born in America.

          • dynamic-zx

Take it however you want it but look up the spoilers yourself. Alot of people called shenanigans on it (including myself) but it’s true.

          • landlock

Did Inia die as well that would be sad.

          • landlock

            No,

            http://pastebin.com/hNCBauyw
            spoilers galore, happy days!!

          • MrTyrant

THey are brother, it was confirmed. Some fans laveled Kouki (director) as troll because of that. The triangle was broken because Yui doesn’t want to hold a romantic feeling for his now brother and because Yuuya loves Cryska yet Cryska dies. It was stupid to ruin the romance like that.

Yui’s father, her uncle and Yuuya’s mom were partners, they worked in the same team. Yui’s father loved Yuuya’s mom but he has to left because of duty calls and he return to japan. Later the imperial family arrange a marriage for him where he got married to Yui’s mom.

          • Crimson_Cloud

Well, even though it’s sad that Cryska dies, I would love to see Total Eclipse being translated. But chances of that are next to zero…
Oh and, yeah, late reply but I had to say it. XD

          • ResidentMetroid

            *Spoiler*

            I read a summary of TE and…
I’m still bummed that they killed off Cryska :(

      • Sardorim

Sounds like fanfiction, no way Latrova and co. lived and Cryska dying off out of nowhere as she’s a main character while Latrova was only a side character for one Arc. >_>

I have this just haven’t played it much

  • DesmaX

I swear, I see people buying these types of game just because of the ridiculous easy platinum’s…

    And I kinda want them too… hm…

I assume this is only for those who have a JAPANESE PSN account. If so, I wonder how it would be to play a Visual Novel that’s in a language which you don’t understand.

    • Kevadu

Some of us understand the language…

      • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

My apologies, but you’re still a minority within the gaming scene. However, I’m interested. How many years learning Japanese does it take to being able to play and understand visual novels and such?

        • LynxAmali

Depends on how determined you are and how much you’re willing to put into it. It took me about a year and that was solely by Super Robot Wars games and only minor studying. I can get by MOST VNs. The only ones I have major issues with are nitro+ titles with the exception of the Demonbane games.

          Murasama, man, Murasama.

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

W-wait, you learned how to understand Japanese text by just playing Super Robot Wars games?! I am a Super Robot Wars fan myself, but unfortunately I always miss out on the plot because of the language barrier. I’m willing to learn, but I don’t want to spend half a decade on it. I kinda hope I might notice some solid progress within 2 years..

          • LynxAmali

I had a dictionary beside me when I played. It took a bit but I eventually managed to memorize most words and crossed referenced those I didn’t know with a dictionary/guide.

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

You mean like a Romaji – English one or a Kanji / Katakana – English one? I suppose the latter, but still. Are SRW games for the most part hiragana and katakana, or is there still a lot of Kanji?

          • LynxAmali

Just a general guide. I think the one I had covered most of it as a whole. I think it was split too between the Kanji/ Katakana.

        • Pfantzypantz

Depends on how dedicated/ serious you are about learning. I’m a very lazy guy, and have been learning through playing games and anime/ manga for about 4 years. I can watch ‘low level’ anime like shounens without subs, and I can play games like Kingdom Hearts, and I can read manga if it has furigana.

That said, RPGs and Visual Novels are about the highest level, I would expect a couple more years for me to be able to go through a VN. The hard part is kanji, and I’m far too lazy to get serious about studying it. I learn a new kanji every once in a while when it sticks out to me in a game or manga.

If you take your time and study, I’d imagine that it’d only take a few years.

        • sakiu

After 2 years of studying I am not able to fully understand Visual Novel, depending on genre I can understand from 50% to 80% … I tried White Album 2 for example and it was ok, but Robotic Notes was hell :) but I am very lazy with learning Kanji so…

Anyway I tried the demo and it was kinda meh, didn’t like on how they cut it into few short demo episodes…

  • dis be gud

    >Su-47s are mass produced
    >Covers up to Operation Ouka
    >Finally ends 4 years of hiatus.

    All my money.

    • MrTyrant

Except for new type ghost and cliffhander before hitting a new beta. The novel just cover the beggining of Ouka and ends abruptly.

  • MrTyrant

Total Eclipse novel is horrible, the original Alternative was amazing. Total Eclipse has a really improved graphics and visual compared with the old stories yet the plot is all messed up. The game end with a cliffhanger in the final battle, be aware of that.

    • Crimson_Cloud

I love the original Alternative. Even though it was brutal and I couldn’t get over deaths of certain characters, I still love it. I only watched anime of Total Eclipse and it didn’t sit well with me in some area, but probably cuz it didn’t cover the entire VN. Loved some of the characters though. ^^
How is the novel compared to anime?

  • Aristides

So I’m assuming this is a VN? I’ve played all the other Muv-Luv VNs and watched the anime, my question is how exactly does this game fit into all that?

    • LynxAmali

The anime is promotion for the VN.

Even then, it’s not a straight adaption. They add in things that weren’t in the original light novel, change elements, etc..

Its better to not compare them at all.

      • Aristides

I see, thanks for the reply.

  • http://twitter.com/Nates4Christ Nate

I love Mechs but this is too overly sexualized for me to play and watch.

    • DyLaN

Sure… Its like EVA didn’t have those tight suits too… Or the fact tht the original Alternative suits are see-through…

  • Kelohmello

Can’t say I’ve ever been as interested in Muvluv since I finished Alternative. Story just feels so different since then. Still, I think I might try this.

  • DyLaN

There no way this is getting a TL patch right? ;_; TE is my 1st ML experience so I’m a bit sad tht the most I can get is spoilers… Oh well now to start slowly playing the original trilogy…

    This thread *sigh*

  • Minami Kaze

    Can you tell me

what the’s muvluv alternative TE ( game ver.-ps3- ) ending song name ?
