Ragnarok Tactics Developer Is Making Battle Princess Of Arcadia

apollosoftNippon Ichi Software’s side-scrolling RPG, Battle Princess of Arcadia, is being made by Apollosoft. This studio formed when Summon Night developer Flight Plan closed. Apollosoft’s first game was Blue Roses, which Nippon Ichi published for PSP in Japan. They also developed Ragnarok Tactics and Aksys brought that title overseas.

  • Interesting.

Blue Roses always looked sorta neat so I was always sad it ended up getting released at the worst possible time (I believe when Pokemon Black and White came out?)

Hmmm. Could go either way. This game does look really colourful though. It also looks like their first console release. Perhaps this will be their breakout game!

    • Solomon_Kano

Well, they did do a number of console games back when they were Flight Plan. Though that obviously doesn’t prepare them for current gen development… hm, I wonder if they’ll have assistance from NIS staff.

I really do wonder how this will do though. All of NIS’ recent non-Disgaea games kinda bombed, so I’m hoping this gets more love. It looks interesting enough. The world needs more 2D action-RPGs!

  • Malon

Looks like a Vanillaware game o:

  • Solomon_Kano

Well, back when they were Flight Plan they made several Summon Night action-RPGs (in several different styles, to boot), so this should be interesting. I was interested already, so this is just more good news.

Oh really? RT was totally a sleeper hit for me. Both Blue Roses and RT have excellent soundtracks too, now I’m even more excited. Maybe Acksys will bring it over and I don’t have to import.
Their translation for RT was bloody excellent.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

I thought that NIS’s Prinny team was going to be working on this one. Guess they’re doing something else then. Oh well, I definitely want to see how this one turns out. The world could use more side scrolling JRPGs.

  • puchinri

Oh~. I didn’t realize it was that group and exactly what they had done. That’s pretty intriguing.

  • Vyse Legendaire

That explains why this game isn’t a strategy game of some sort. Then again NIS is busy making that Hundred Knights game which is another action game. Glad to see NIS servicing non-hardcore strategy buffs.

    I wan’t this to be localized…
