Level-5’s Massive Fantasy Life Adds Pet Dragons

Level-5 gave their popular simulation game Fantasy Life an overhaul with Fantasy Life Link! The expanded version of adds full online multiplayer where you can link up with friends using the 3DS’ friend code system. Players can chat with each other using a touch screen keyboard on the bottom screen or using canned messages. A new StreetPass feature puts other people’s avatars in your town.

Fantasy Life Link! also has more hairstyle and face parts so you’ll see more avatar variation in Link. Players can also customize their avatar in the middle of the game if they feel they need a makeover. A screenshot function lets players take pictures of their avatar living their fantasy life too.

Gameplay-wise, Level-5 upped all of the level caps. The max character level in Fantasy Life Link! went up from 100 to 200. Skill levels went up to 20 and parameters can be boosted to 100. A new dependability stat for companion characters has been added to Link too and if this stat is high the companion gets a big boost. The best title you can earn in Fantasy Life Link! is "god."

In addition to dogs and cats, Fantasy Life Link! adds a pet bird and pet dragon. If you want to exchange pets you can do so by returning the pet you currently have. Pets also have the dependability stat and if this is high they can use more powerful special attacks.

Want to live a relaxing fantasy life? Level-5 added plenty of new items including furniture for players to collect. You can build a villa to lounge in and explore a brand new island. Fantasy Life Link! will retail for 4,970 yen, but if you already own Fantasy Life you can purchase a Link! Kit as downloadable content for 2,000 yen.

Please bring this to NA, EU, UK and everywhere else you can get a 3DS!

So cute, not my kind of game though :(

I’d wish for this to be localized, but the last time Level-5 brought over an RPG with massive online features they neglected to localize the DLC and then shut down the online servers a year after its release…

    • I personally don’t care about the DLC that much. I wanted this game the moment I heard of what all this game had. I just want the game localized period.

  • 2,000 yen is a bit pricey, but Fantasy Life is just too good to pass on it!

There is both a seperate boxed version and a downloadable update.

      • Ah, okay. I asked because I previously kept hearing that it’s an update, but now it sounds like an updated (re-)release.

I’m pretty certain that Link! will require you have the first version, it’s just that the retail of FL Link will have that “base” game built-in.

  • I’m not quite sure why, but the more I watched this, the more I want it.
