Shin Kohime Musou, The All Girls Three Kingdoms Fighting Game, Is Coming To PS3

By Spencer . June 27, 2013 . 10:54pm

shinkShin Kohime Musou is a 2D fighting game with characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms epic with a twist… all of the male warlords are female. I played Shin Kohime Musou in an arcade and Kanu (Guan Yu) felt like my kind of character since her spear extends her reach. I only played a couple of matches, but I will be able to get a better feel for the fighting game soon.

According to online retailer Rakuten, Shin Kohime Musou will be released for PlayStation 3 on September 26. No details about the console version have been revealed other than the fact that there will be a limited edition.

I AM EXCITED ABOUT THIS FOR REASONS I DON’T KNOW

  • XypherCode

I didn’t know they made a fighting game for this. lol
I watched the Anime for the plot. XD Pretty good. :P

    • Vash bane

ironically I only played the pc game was a fan of the turn base system lol

    • Vash bane

    • Mr_SP

I am saluted. But considering how I know about him, that might not be the best thing to be saluted for…

The anime declined in quality every season, the eroge was fantastic. I wouldn’t mind playing a fighter based on the franchise for the novelty but I don’t expect it to be good. I’m probably just jaded because of Twinkle Queen. It had two Koihime Musou characters in it…I think.

I wonder if there will be some exclusive content that will differentiate the PS3 ver. from the PC ver. of Shin Koihime Musou ~Otome Taisen Sangokushi Engi~

Whoa, this is great news! Currently immersed in playing the PC version and I am totally glad that this is getting a console version.

Seemed like one of those fighters that I didn’t remotely expect to be good. BUT I WAS TOTALLY WRONG. It is a great fighter in its own right. It’s a great game of footsies, easily comparable with SF (but doesn’t really head into the hard “link” combos too much) and probably Samurai Showdown games. The Fatal combo system is pretty fun and allows for great creativity despite how it plays on neutral. Great game! Will get it if our local retailers import it.

The anime was a guilty pleasure of mine. I wouldn’t mind if the fighting game came over here. Perhaps Aksys will pick it up?

  • Mr_SP

Tch. Part of me thought this was going to Shin Koihime Musou… Not a fighting game spin off.

Though I’d prefer if Mangagamer got around to it, really.

  • Sim

Yessss i love the anime and the Vn’s can’t wait to have some fun with this.

  • Yan Zhao

Hmm the chances of a game like this making out to the states are pretty low. Might have to import this.

  • Kelohmello

I played the PC version. It’s not bad I guess, very street fighter-ish with footsies and link combos instead of airdashes and chains. Most notable feature is probably the Fatal Counter system, where landing counterhits with certain moves cause a state where you can do combos you can’t normally do for tons of damage and use your ultimate super. Not the deepest or most complex fighting game at all, but it’s not bad.

  • Chardo

This game deserves more praise than your typical doujin fighter, its graphical style is pretty interesting, using 3D models that look almost 2D at first sight, and a focus on spacing and poking instead of aerial combos like melty blood, all I wish for the ps3 version is an online mode, because the pc version lacked it.

    • Tre W

Unless ASW is helping with the port? I wouldn’t put a lot of stock in the netcode being all that good.

But in any case, it’s good to see that games like this and Phantom Break are getting their console ports at long last. This “end of PS3 era” will likely see some very good games, for those willing to stick around!

  • Alexander Marquis Starkey

Hopefully there are more characters. I’d like to see Shutai, Chouryou and Bachou added myself.

  • artemisthemp

So this is a fighting a game or a Injustice type game?

  • evilmajikman

Wait, they’re doing a fighting game based off an eroge game? So, how long until we see Taimanin Asagi fighting games?

    • Slayven19

I love the artist that draws females in your avatar.

  • Testsubject909

    Female Guan Yu huh?

Reminds me of Sayo Tanku. *uploads* Pic relevant.

  • MrTyrant

The game is on pc as well.

  • Testsubject909

Oh… Sorry, a thought just went through my brain.

Skullgirls x Shin Kohime Musou. Crossover fighting game.

  • Canceris

    And Eternal Fighter Zero.

  • ArmoredBoar

That’s kind of an ironic comment considering this game’s engine is actually based on MUGEN’s coding structure; it’s literally built on top of a clone engine.

Upon extraction of the files, the animation format and state file format is very close, also matching state and required animation numbers.
