Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient Chapter 1 Creeps Onto PCs

By Spencer . June 30, 2013 . 5:28pm

While there have been sequels and follow ups to Corpse Party for PSP, those games were developed internally at 5pb. Meanwhile, the original Corpse Party started work on a brand new title called Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient.

The story begins when Ayame Ito who wakes up in a creepy hospital connected to an EKG and other medical monitoring equipment. Ayame has no idea how she got there, but there’s no time to think about that because this hospital has monsters to worry about. Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient is being released in episodes and the first one is available now in Japanese. No plans have been announced to localize Corpse Party, but Xseed seems fairly committed to the horror game series. Perhaps they will pick Corpse Party 2 up?

    I miss the old style…
That aside, does Xseed even localize games for PC?
In any case, I hope the game would come to handheld consoles (preferably the Vita.)

    • artfv95

They did do the Ys games on Steam.

      • Ashilyn

They didn’t really do much actual localisation work for that – iirc they bought the scripts to both the Ys PC releases they did from the people who fan translated them, spruced them up, and released them.

That said, XSeed lacking an actual programmers always makes PC localisation iffy, but I do hope they tackle this game. They seem to like the series as much as I do.

        • Ferrick

i’m surprised that there is actually someone else who knew about this part too (especially on the part of YSo)

          • Bigabu Beaze

Do people just c/p this as an answer to Xseed’s Y’s and Corpse Party localizations?

          • Ferrick

no idea, because its rare to see anyone mentioning that, especially back when YSo was released on steam, nobody ever mentioned the original translator or even gave him credit to him for his efforts

          • Bigabu Beaze

Thats crazy. Was he paid for it?

          • Ferrick

i don’t know, hope that he does, because he spent a heck load of time on it, and i knew because i followed on the project for a long time too

edit: nevermind, i was proven wrong, sorry Xseed

          • wyrdwad

Hmm? We gave full credit to the translator in the game’s credits, and of course paid him for his work. Where did you hear otherwise?

          • Ferrick

ah, i must’ve been out of the loop for a long time, and the in-game credits ? sorry, i must’ve skipped it ^_^”, i retract all of my words and i do not mean to cause any offense. I’m sorry about that

        • wyrdwad

Actually, we did a lot of work for the PC games — Sara, our contracted Steam programmer, most of all. PC is a perfectly viable platform for us, and we’re definitely happy to work on games for Steam, as the three we’ve released so far have done very well for us, and Valve has been extremely easy to work with.

          • Brian Woods

Please, sir, may I have some more? :D

          • Ashilyn

Ah! I apologise for my assumption then, I’d always been under a different impression. Glad to have it corrected though, I love the work you guys do and I’m always looking forward to more.

      • Bloodios

        I see. I never knew.

  • neocatzon

00:45 Zombie and saw. So, now we can fight back.

    • Rytan

I hope that’s just a one time thing. Being able to kill things ruins the horror element for me. :(

  • FetusZero

I haven’t finished Corpse Party yet, but I still hope Xseed picks this up.

  • ChiffonCake

Nice. I haven’t played the other games yet, but I plan on doing that soon, so I hope Xseed localizes this one too.

By the way, a mistake in the article’s text:”Meanwhile, the original Corpse Party started work […]” should be “Meanwhile, the original Corpse Party’s team started work […]” or something.

  • TheExile285

    so this is a spin-off?

    • Arcana Wiz

Yes and no cause it has no connections to the psp saga, but like final fantasy it borrow various elements from his predecessor so it is numbered with a II, dunno if just a game or a new whole saga.

      • Леонид Родин

You are wroong, it’s connected with psp saga. In fact there is a scene with Ayumi and some guy who looks after her.

    • Barrylocke89

Basically, if Corpse Party was FF10, then Corpse Party Blood Drive would be FF10-2. This game is more like FF12.

    • supervamp

Actually this is a sequel that takes place after blood drive, some of the new character have connection to the original cast and some of the original cast return.
I know it’s weird but yeah so they made the sequel of the sequel to
the ending of book of shadows first.

  • A month late on this news, but at least you mentioned it.

    • Bigabu Beaze

      Good one lol.

    • Go2hell66

just found out last week myself

  • CirnoLakes

I would pre-order this on Steam right now if I could.

You can have my money. It’s yours.

  • I hope they pick it up. The guys at XSEED are huge fans of the series, and this game screams to be played on the Vita screen.

  • Warboss Aohd

well dis iz a interestin’ turn o’ eventz, i bet it’s salez will be higher az a result, especially if it’s localized an’ put on Steam.

  • Crimson_Cloud

Been on a lookout for this for quite a while now. Corpse Party is one of my top favorites for the PSP, and I really hope that I’ll play this as well. Right, Xseed?

  • I never really did like hospitals……….

Yeah, I’m so getting this if it gets localized =)

    • DyLaN

      Who does? Hospital=horror material….

    • $36598391

Have you ever wandered from a hospital at 3am while it’s empty?
      It’s very enjoyable

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

These guys are already working on it.

  • $36598391

Will there be empty wheelchairs chasing you down hallways?

    • DyLaN

      Or murderous nurses?

      • $36598391

        With no faces

  • artemisthemp

I hope Dead Patient will find it’s way to Sony Handheld, since I don’t feel like playing it on PC

  • pantsonadog

It looks soo goood. Hope it gets some sort of portable release after all the chapters come out on PC.(Hopefully 3DS and Vita)

  • Göran Isacson

Now this, I like. This I like very much. We’ll have to see if the 3D models improved movements (hoisting people over our heads and throwing them down floors and such) will end up working in the games favor, or if it will just make it look silly. The Polygon Ceiling can be a very cruel thing, after all… but monsters in a locked down hospital is definitely appealing. Episodes though… well, we’ll see what happens.

    • s07195

If I remember correctly, the original Corpse Party and onwards were also released in episodes. They were compiled from 5 episodes into the 5 chapters in the PSP game.

      • Göran Isacson

Ooh, did not know that. Always thought of it as a “all in one” game since that’s how it was delivered to us.

  • DyLaN

The video is not popping up in the mobile ver while the Drakengard 3 is fine….
