Chibi-Robo Returns With A Photography Game, The Denpa Men 3 Coming In August

By Spencer . July 2, 2013 . 6:55pm

imageNintendo’s most helpful hero, Chibi-Robo isn’t in the graveyard of forgotten Nintendo characters! Photography With Chibi-Robo was just announced for Nintendo 3DS and if you have a Japan region 3DS you can get it now.

Photography With Chibi-Robo is part Pokémon Snap and part Animal Crossing museum manager. Players help Chibi-Robo take pictures of real world objects and match them to silhouettes. You need at least a 60% match to make Chibi-Robo pop out of the object and add it to the Museum of Nostaobjects (that’s a portmanteau of nostalgia and objects). The game takes place in the future and in the present world people want to see objects from the past and Mr. Kancho wants to create a museum for this purpose. Now it’s up to Chibi-Robo, Tonpi (a smartphone-like character), and Chibi-Chibi (an even tinier robot) to find those objects.

Nintendo also announced The Denpa Men 3, a continuation of Genius Sonority’s series, slated for release on August 7. Photography With Chibi-Robo brings back familiar characters like Space Hunter Drake Redcrest and new friends for mini-games. Photography With Chibi-Robo costs 1,500 yen ($15). Both games are Nintendo eShop downloads.

Oh Chibi robo I can only hope you get a full fledged game again. I would really like a chibi Robo game for 3ds

“Nintendo’s most helpful hero, Chibi-Robo isn’t in the graveyard of forgotten Nintendo characters!”

That’s because Nintendo actually takes care of their characters. What, did you get confused and think they were Namco? x3

    • brian

Why do they have such a big graveyard?

    • Tom_Phoenix

If they take such good care of their characters, where the hell then is R.O.B.? Don’t they realise what happens when you mistreat a robot?

Incidentally, the series begun as a collaboration between Nintendo and Namco, the former salvaging a soon-to-be-abandoned prototype developed by the latter.
Aaand the third game wasn’t even localized (the second one was restricted to Gamestop, with no European release)
      …. You get the idea.

Also, Captain Rainbow, GIFTPIA, Starfy, Drill Dozer, Nintendo’s visual novels and BS-X releases, Fire Emblem 2 DS, Kururin, Sutte Hakkun, Custom Robo, ASH, …

      • puchinri

I think the second was resctricted to Wal-Mart actually, and eventually became available elsewhere. It is a shame we never got the third entry though.

What is the list of games for though? Things that we didn’t see? Because we did get Starfy for the DS, unless another one came out that we missed again.

        • GH56734

Another four games in the Stafy series, you mean. All of them in Europe :(

Ah Chibi Robo :D I love the original game~ Too bad it probably won’t be coming to the states though… Oh well, another reason to get a Japanese 3DS I guess.

    • LittleMofreaky

Why wouldn’t it? Its only an eShop title after all and we’ve gotten pretty much all of those in NA so far. If we can get “Liberation Maiden” then we can certainly get this.

      • laurenhiya21

Ah I always forget about Liberation Maiden… Well, that would be awesome if it came over here~ *cross fingers* (but whether it comes over or not, I still plan on getting a Japanese 3DS)

  • puchinri

Yay, Cheebo~! I hope the 3DS will see a proper sequel in the series, though I’d also get this if it were available here.

Also, I have yet to play a Denpa Men game even though I keep meaning to start them. Are they particularly fun?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Denpa Men is a fun, light hearted rpg here. And, the game actually is some what a bit deeper than it looks.

If you love Pokemon mechanics+ Dragon Quest(Like me.^_^) I am sure you will fall in love with this franchise.

      • puchinri

Oh, cool~! I’ll definitely try to invest in them very soon then. Thanks for the info! ^u^

This mini Direct actually carries such huge bomb lol. I even haven’t finish my second Denpa Men here.(Soul Hackers is sucking my time.T_T) And here comes the third.

    Not to mention Chibi Roboooooooo.^_^

  • katamari damacy

I loved Chibi Robo. It’s one of Nintendo’s more under appreciated series.

  • Ferofax

Nostaljunk. I think keeping the original portmanteau is better than Nostaobjects; certainly rolls off the tongue better.

That said, I like the premise of this game. I’ve played previous titles but haven’t really sunk that much time into them.

  • Göran Isacson

Chibi Robo is one of those games that I’ve heard good things about, but never actually played. Anyone here who actually has, and who can tell me if they liked it or not?

    • Mrgrgr and Unacceptable World

Well, i have played all the three games(Yup even the one that Nintendo never bother bringing here.T_T)

I can said the game is quite fun and does it’s job well not being serious and being funny.^_^

You control one small robot with plug as it’s tail and go adventure around like for example in Chibi Robo park patrol, going around a park shooting battery water?(Can’t remember)

Riding bicycle, mini car around that huge area and of course there is also some kind of boss battle.

All in all, get the game if you can find them. It is that fun.^_^

      • Göran Isacson

Sounds pretty neat. Were the games ever released in Europe, or was it JPN/US only?

  • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Love this series, I hope I get to play this one.

  • Strain42

To celebrate this news, I’m gonna go play some Chibi-Robo, because I really loved that game. One of the final gems of my Gamecube. I really hope these games become available in the states.
