Demon Gaze Coming To North America And Europe In Early 2014

By Spencer . July 7, 2013 . 10:13pm

imageDuring their Anime Expo panel, NIS America announced they picked up Demon Gaze. The Demon Gazer can seal demons and summon them in battle, but when you start the game you lost your memory and are indebted to the innkeeper.

Demon Gaze is a dungeon RPG from Students of the Round developer Experience and Kadokawa Games. This should be more accessible than Experience’s other games since they added in mini-maps and "auto pilot" which automatically walks players through areas they visited. Check out artwork of some of the game’s classes here.

Demon Gaze is slated for release as a PlayStation Vita title in North America and Europe in early 2014. The game will retail for $39.99 or €39.99 in Europe.

It’s just so crazy with localizations lately. But it’s a good thing.

    • Notquitesure?

Yeah i was honestly suprised that they announced the localisation. Hopefully their will be more trends of niche games coming over.

    • Mar Mar

And all of this happened within a year. Remember how bad everyone was talking about Vita last year?

Let’s see what’s Sony have for Gamescom 2013.

  • Notquitesure?

    Honestly suprised, hope theres more.

  • Warboss Aohd

    i’m in

  • Spider-Man

All this Vita localization news is crazy. Am I in bizarro world? Regardless, my wallet is ready.

    • Highasthesky

      Mine isn’t, i’m screwed.

      • Solomon_Kano

        Same. orz

        • Testsubject909

My wallet is ready now. Ah… Feels good to have a ready wallet…

        • Spider-Man

You should…let me take care of your wallet for you. You can trust a man in a mask, Solomon.

          • Solomon_Kano

But I don’t have any money, so you’d just be taking care of leather lol.

          • Spider-Man

            Oh, nevermind then. ):

  • dynamic-zx

Really looking forward to this. Maybe we’ll get Mind =/ Zero too then, eventually.

  • Wafflenaut

Just in time to follow up after Etrian Odyssey Untold.

  • Keima88

Early 2014 huh? I dont mind the wait now that I know its actually coming here to the west!

  • Dominic Hunter

Dude, is this generation gonna be some kind of localization renaissance? I’m game!

    • natchu96

All the good things that are gone and we will never get though . . . T_T

      • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

        Such as?

        • Dominic Hunter

          …Senran Kagura…

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

            Naw it’s ok.

  • Raltrios

As long as they don’t censor that suggestive scene with Fran. I have no idea what reason there is for her to be in that position, and I want the opportunity to find out.
    I’m so shallow… >__<

    • It’s very … hot… ^__^

I actually screenshot that when it popped up. Glad that this will be getting a localization, it’s fairly fun as far as dungeon crawlers go.

      • Holylifestar

        Suggestive scene 0-0….?

        • TheExile285
          • In all honesty, who WOULD wear something like that in bed?

          • TheExile285

          • Hinataharem

Seriously. You might as well be nude.

          • artemisthemp

She look legal, so UK shouldn’t have a issue with her

          • Raltrios

Yeah, like I said, I really want to know why the innkeeper who’s after your money would be in this position. Is she sick and needs you to nurse her? Is this one of her ‘rewards’ for prompt payment? Or do her feelings grow naturally over the course of the story?
I must know, but now that it’s been confirmed to be coming over I kind of want to avoid spoilers, too…

  • Ugghhghhh, 40 bucks? I was hoping it’d be a little cheaper…

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Yes, because the sheer amount of work put into localizing copious amounts of text isn’t really something that should factor into the price~.

      • Wow guys, sorry for trying to save a little money. I never said I wasn’t willing to pay, I was hoping it’d be cheaper, is that seriously such a crime? Way to jump on me for trying to save as much of my measly income as I can. Jeez.

    • TheExile285

You were expecting a text heavy, DRPG on Vita to be cheaper than $40? Right….

    • $39.99 is too much for you? I have to pay £39.99/€39.99 ($59.66/$51.42) for the game. Ok lets reflect on something, games are always going to be cheap for you guys.

  • Go2hell66

Wow full retail price , this is gonna be a hard sale for NIS

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

No, it won’t. Atelier Totori+ was released at full retail price and ranked in the top 5 PSN games sold that month for the PSV. I paid for it gladly and I’ll do it again for Demon Gaze. I’ve no idea why you people expect games to be dirt cheap when localization itself demands a lot of work from publishers~.

      • Go2hell66

somehow i see atelier totori having an easier time than a first person dungeon crawler like this

        • Ladius

Almost 3000 fans preorderd the extremely niche western UMD edition of Class of Heroes 2 from the Gaijinworks site and some 25k bought Soul Hackers in the US alone, so I think there’s still a market for this kind of games even if they’re far from being mainstream.

  • Sentsuizan_93

    I should buy a Vita soon…..

  • So happy =)

  • While it’s nice to see all the good news as far as localizations for the Vita are going, it does cause me a little bit of frustration.

I have been importing since day one on the Vita, both physical and digital, and I’ve always had to stop myself from getting involved in the “Vita? Lol, no games-ita,” arguments because from a Western perspective it’s really hard to argue the case that the Vita isn’t just a dumping ground for quick ports and lack-luster software.

Meanwhile Japanese developers have been hammering the system with some great software left and right. Now the West gets to start tasting a little of it, nearly a year and half after the system came out, and there still aren’t any Western developers who seem really interested or serious about the Vita.

Glad to see Demongaze coming over, hopefully the localization trend picks up more and can bring some more developers on this side of the Pacific on-board with the Vita.

  • Testsubject909

40$ and in retail huh? I’m down for it. Now to decide where to pre-order it.

  • Nice! I’d pre-order it now if I didn’t have so many pre-orders already (@[email protected] ). I will be buying the game even if I don’t have the vita yet! Must… support!

  • Need a vita, good thing is the next platform I would be buying anyways.

  • So sucks that I have to wait early 2014 to make use of my Vita. Eh at least we’re getting something here.

    • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

I don’t see why you won’t use it until 2k14. Ys: Celceta is coming up in September and so is Valhalla Knights 3. The latter may not be amazing, but it’s a decent JRPG. Toukiden is also looking to be pretty solid so all in all, if you are into JRPGs/ARPGs, you will have new games to play before 2k14~.

      • Just to let you know I live in the United Kingdom. Game doesn’t get released here as soon as you American…assuming you are one. Also I rather support my regions publisher than another region.

As much as I want Celceta, I’m not even sure if there is anyone in Europe that will publish that. Not so interested in Valhalla Knights since I had bad experienced with the one that was released for Wii and Toukiden…well I didn’t like the demo so…i rather not buy it at launch.

        • Zakai

I guess you can buy it from Play-Asia. Vita doesn’t have region lock.

          • Read what I said? I will import it if I have no other choice but otherwise I will wait. Since I got the limited edition of YS seven and YS oath, I might as well import Celceta if it ever has a limited edition.

          • Zakai

Sorry my bad. I understand when you say you want to support your region publisher but if we don’t support US when a japan game is released it won’t encourage a release in Europe or simply oustide of Japan. ( I’m french)

          • I get what you’re saying but I don’t have the luxury to double dip like some rich people here. Even if I did have that much money, I would rather maintain my hobby which is painting model kit and fuck that is one expensive hobby.

  • Aristides

Looks like we got the start of our Vita RPG localization lineup for next year ^^ this year is already packed so I’m happy the stream isn’t letting up :P

  • V. Dokk.

First localization of Tales of Xillia 2, then another RPG that I highly doubted would come to this side of the world…

Last days had been great so far.

  • DarthSithZero

Six or eight months of I can’t I can’t I can’t, Well better later than never

  • Yeahp… not getting a PS4 and/or Wii U anytime soon.

  • Yeahp… not getting a PS4 and/or Wii U anytime soon.

  • Kamakuma

You know I hate when people say they have to wait to use their Vita. There’s games to be played before then without importing. Heck my library is growing everyday. But still guess I’m a hypocrite because I have an import stack as well… v.v
